Does anyone feel like I do.

Archive: 46 posts

Okay, so I tried playing around in create mode on lbp 1 the other day. It has been a VERRRRYYYY long time since I've tried to create anything at all. I had just watched all the awesome videos in the vid thread, and was super hyped about lbp2.. Unfortunately after all the hype, lbp1 just didn't seem to do it for me.

Trying to find creative ways to fix complex problems is no longer as fun as it used to be, I just think "Man, If this was LBP 1 I could just use (insert amazing new tool here)"

I don't know. School was killing me because I wanted to play lbp so bad. Now I'm out of school again, and lost my interest. LBP 2 is still... what is it... 4 or 5 months away.. I really don't want to extend my lbp sabbatical for 4 more months, but at the same time... well you know... I don't know... whatever.

Dude, I totally understand. I was totally hyped about spending time in create mode. I started a kind of platformer with an indiana jones theme but then I started and I could only think the same way. I'm so excited about LBP2 that the hype is kinda killing my joy for LBP.2010-07-18 06:59:00

Yeah, I want to play LBP1 but, I don't know, I think I'll feel the same way if I do.

I at least have an excuse to play it when I get my new HDTV...

Thankfully, sir, I do not feel like you.
For me, this game has NEVER gotten boring.
Unlike some other games..

Actually the announcement of LBP2 made me get right back into LBP more than ever. Untill I hit a roadblock that stopped my level dead. Then all I could think was, "I know exactly how to fix this in LBP2".2010-07-18 10:07:00

Yes Create mode is such a pain now!
And I cant think of any obsticals or what would go next because I keep thinking "Now I will put a sackbot he... Oh wait thats LBP2 -_-" or "Im gonna make a super sweet airship but its gonna ba a pain if only this was lbp2"

GIVE MEE BATA NAO!

It's a hard because I don't have a ton of free time, and from what I have read, creating is much faster in LBP2.
Like if I wait 5 months I can make this set piece in half the time...
Probably more efficient to keep working on it than to post in threads like this, haha.

I'm working on a level, and I'm trying to keep it a basic platformer, so I rarely think 'This would be better in LBP2.' It's more 'This is good that I'm going to be able to publish before LBP2 because there won't be much call for basic platformers in LBP2.'2010-07-18 15:35:00

Yup. I create a level, its realy good, then I realize..
"I should just probably make this in LBP2." I still create contraptions and what not, but the urge to create levels...isnt there.

I dont understand,
there is still so much original stuff you can/could do in lbp1.
A friend of mine (robotcrash) has something really original in the making, sure it might be easy to create in lbp2..
but the fact that he created it in lbp1 is just stunning.
Ive allways had the urge to create, so it might be that..
but creating is expressing yourself..
Better express yourself instead of botteling it all up.

Yeah, I'm actually trying to push myself into getting the platinum trophy before LBP2 comes out.

It's not really different creating now, than it was before, but yeah...

I've been getting some of my better ideas lately...

I was thinking of them for LBP2, but them I just started doing them in LBP1.

I thought like that as soon as I saw the first videos for LBP2 - but now I'm back into it, and I'm kinda using this to see how much I've advanced as a creator since I first got the game and started creating - for instance, I'm kind of "remaking" one of my first and more successful levels. I'm also using the LBP2 release date as a deadline for any of my existing projects.2010-07-22 18:13:00

I'm still into creating just that sometimes I want to make something happen in the LBP1 create mode, and then when I get into the details of how to make it. I realize that it's either only possible in LBP2 or it IS possible in LBP1 but just very hard to make. I.E. I'm making a remake of the game LIMBO and I want to make the scene where the neon sign saying "HOTEL" Breaks when you land on it. The letters fall off and the lights flicker on and of and die out. I could make all that EXCEPT the flickering neon tubes. I would need the holographic material to do it. I could make glass look like Holo material by placing a white sticker on it. but I wouldnt be able to get the flickering effect : So I'm stuck on that part......
(sorry for the long story)

I've kind of fizzled out in lbp lately. After the lbp2 announcement I hurried to finish my mech since lbp2 would make it obsolete, but since publishing it, I haven't felt like working on anything. My next project is going to be the second part of a trilogy I started, but I'll be able to make it SO much better with sackbots (I've tried and tried to make decent npc enemies but I've never been happy with them) so I've been putting it off until lbp2. I do have another project that's been on the back burner for quite some time that I might start up again if I can muster up the motivation, so maybe I'll have another release before lbp2.2010-07-22 22:20:00

Yeah I know what you mean. Since the new things in LBP2 were revealed LBP1 just hasn't felt the same for me. I'm finding it hard to stay on it for any length of time-partly due to the broken community. I hope in LBP2 people don't find a way to exploit the cool levels like they did in LBP1.2010-07-25 22:29:00

It's a little so-so for me. For one, I haven't published any levels in LBP1 PS3, so I still feel have a fresh start every time I turn the game on. And two, I have been heavy into LBP PSP, which makes creating more simplified and only take a couple of days of hard work.

If you feel LBP1 just isn't doing it for you, play LBP PSP.

Yeah, I sometimes feel the same way-If I have an idea, but can't create it, then I feel bummed and I'm just like "Uuuuuggh....I wish I had some of those tools from LBP2". But then again, the anticipation for LBP2 has given me more ideas than ever, and I've already had numerous ideas on what to make levels on, for instance, a level I plan on making called Airship Adventures, a basic platformer/puzzle adventure in which you navigate a kingdom in an airship to get to different areas. I build random stuff when I feel like it, but not very often do I make full-scale levels, unless I'm really enjoying what I'm making and am loving seeing the world I've pieced together in my mind coming to life.2010-07-25 23:31:00

Once you beat the whole game without dieing, it's just not the same. "Oh, this part, I had to restart like 70 times here..."
I do get the feeling like LBP1 just isn't doing it sometimes, but then I just randomly go back on and create something, so I guess I'm just weird...

I think that creating is going to be much simpler in lbp2. I have a buttload of great level ideas, but 1 thing always got in my way. Logic. Al the magnetic key doohickeys, encased in dark matter, floating a couple feet away from where you could be playing about, I just didn't like it. Also, I never could get the hang of it. With circuitboards and DCS, I think I speak for many of us creators who are "logically impaired" when I say that with LBP2, you can expect a lot more from us.2010-08-03 22:11:00

I kinda feel that way. Not much cuz I still play and create games. It`s just I take longer breaks in between games in LBP

Has anybody else thought of re-creating Super Smash Brothers on LBP2???

Cuz I'm already starting the stages right now! C-ya!

To bump this..

does anybody feel like I do?
I dont want to read about the latest new thingy in lbp2,
I dont want to know who the final boss will be,
I dont want to see all the levels available,
I dont want to know what music will be available,
I dont want to know how the new lighting or emitters work,
I dont want to know which power-ups will be aquired.
And most of all, I dont want to watch all the ingame footage.

I want to find out myself when I get lbp2 in my hands (may it be beta (I doubt it), may it be full release).

lol... I like that answer!

Seriously.. guys. Unhook the hype. Waiting several months and let your pop-it skills go soft? I'm too stunned for words. It's still an awesome game and so much yet to discover. You could make characters, objects, sets, and all sorts of things and not even concern yourself with logic bits. I am taking every moment that I am not doing my LBPC duties to work on my next level. I finally got time to finish my current one and now picking up where I left off on a wacky room design for Space Escape III.

No, I'm still motivated for creating. But one tip I have if you don't have any ideas or can't be bothered to create, just take a break for a few weeks. You end up thinking about loads of new ideas and start doodling, and get your creativity back..2010-08-16 16:51:00

I don't really class the two games as LBP1 and LBP2. It's just LittleBigPlanet to me. I'm kinda thinking of the new game as a Blu-ray disc with a hell of a lot of awesome DLC and updates. I'm happy playing LittleBigPlanet until all the DLC and updates come out lol.2010-08-16 16:58:00

I actually hadn't played LBP for a long, long time (like, I hadn't beaten story mode yet). But I saw the announcment trailer for LBP2, and thought to myself "Self, I don't want to have gotten LBP 1 if I'm only going to use the sequel, so I got off my butt, and went right to it.2010-08-16 17:14:00

Hmm As much as i want LBP2, believe me
its a crazy lot, i got work to do on LBP1
im going try to get as many of the main set
of levels in my head done before 2 is out as
possible, i want to get better so i won't feel like
im left behind the skill levels as others ;3 *mew
besides LBP1 is good enough for loads of great
level ideas. =^-^=

I've just kind of been in a rut. I got to one point in my level, and all of a sudden I've got too many directions to go in. Not to mention I feel like the beginning is rather slow: who's going to get to the cool stuff I've got three floors up, when the first floor is barren? Half of me wants to tear most of it down, copy what Is salvageable, and start anew. The other half just wants lbp2 to come out so all those cool things will be mad easy. I've been wanting to try and pair up with someone, hopefully get some insight into this level, but at the same time, I just want lbp2.2010-08-19 01:33:00

For me it has nothing to do with what I could make, but me thinking "This would look a lot better with LBP2's rendering and lighting". When I got spoiled with that eye candy, everything else looks plain and plasticy. I don't know, maybe it's the default templates that's eeehhhhh. Suddenly it's "I'm making yet another forest level with glass waterfalls and prize bubbles I'd never want".2010-08-19 02:10:00

I stopped playing for a while because the cool pages is full of the same survival games just with some stupid gimmick such as a new background that makes people release it.
I only play little big planet when lbpc comes out with the community spotlight. I write down all of the levels and sit at my ps3 for an hour or two everyday until I've completed all of the levels from the community spotlight.

Oh yes, I can't wait till lbp.me is out so I can track all my favorite levels. I hate having to sift through all the survivals and search by .. rather useless tags. "cool" "rubbish" "weird" "zombie" it's all blurred and I can't see them 'at a glance' unless I check each one for a screen cap (that's usually.. y'know).
