Ok there's a scientific debate thread so how about a religious debate. The title is totally my view so if this thread gets closed or locked I will be totally disappointed and insulted for stating my views. I'm starting this as I always seem I'm the only athesist I know. I believe there is no god as there can't be possibly a man sitting on a cloud somewhere. I will continue my thoughts if people reply to this so we can get an interesting discussion going. I am not out to offend any Christians or other beliefs. I respect your views but chose not to believe them. So do you believe there is a god and heaven or do you believe it all another way?? Post your views here.

Personally, I am curious as to why many Christians seem to think the belief in Aliens or the paranormal is somehow less truthful then the Bible, and many say that such things can't exist yet believe in God. Yes. /runs

Ok sooooooooo don't FULL Atheists not celebrate holidays? o.O that's what i've understood because if they don't do anything affiliated with religion, then they don't celebrate holidays right? So if you do celebrate holidays thats like Semi-Atheist right?.....right? ._. That's what your parents tell you when your young, when your older they tell you "life sucks there is no god :|" hehe but if you think of a guy standing on a cloud as good, your sort of wrong there, God is just a name/excuse (IN MY OPINION) to get people to nevar stop bothering you.....I probably didn't do such a hot job explaining right? But to answer the question. I don't really care sometimes but when I start thinking about it, I start thinking, "Why do people think Jesus is god? If he's God then who the heck was he praying to whenever it says Jesus prayed in the bible?" So i don't think Jesus is God and I half and half believe in God.

Ok... Number 1: I have Christmas but don't associate religion into it or think of it to do with religion. So I think of it as XMAS. You can be very religious but be an atheist at the same time. Religion doesn't necessary mean god, heaven or hell. Have your heard of Richard Dawkins? He's possibly the most famous atheist in the world. Number 2: No my parents aren't religious and didn't tell me he sits on a clouds. I said that just to show how gullible and stupid most Christians are to believe this amd the bible. I've been to church about 5 times in my life. I'm only 14. Only went to church for those times for family weddings and funerals. Those members of my family are the religious ones. However I don't go to church, never pray and don't even give the word "god" a capital G. Yes "rocky" christians do say that and you know why that is? It's because they think they have enough faith for it to be real. You will find you will never win an arguement against a Christian as the only answer they give is a highly unintelligant one and that answer is faith. They don't need prove. Oh and inanimacy you are what we call an "agnostic". It's someone who isn't sure what they believe in.

Thats a funny way of showing respect.... and most people use a cap G when saying God because that's how it is in the dictionary Oh and inanimacy you are what we call an "agnostic". It's true. When I mean respect I don't mean not calling them names, I mean I respect their opinions not them. Oh and guy that said case closed. Case isn't closed until I see god in real life. Explain to me how god is real. It may say "God" in the dictionary but "it's" not a thing so therefore no capital G.

When I say "we" it's a phrase when talking. You don't need to take it literally that there's more people there. Well I honestly don't know what we call someone who doesn't give a crap about it at times...

There is a God. Case closed. Impeccable logic. In fact, that is logical beyond all reason. I can not stand how logical that statement is. ... and yeah, I've pretty much gone to the point where I don't care what anyone says, I still won't accept Christianity or almost any religion outside of the slim possibility of some being that made us then left as a legitimate argument. I don't care if the majority of the world thinks so. Just because most people believe so, I still won't be forced to respect it just because they do. When they all accept that UFOs have just as much if not more credence then God, then I will take anything religious somewhat seriously. But yes. I won't accept your beliefs as a legitamete belief system just because there's a large number of you. Sue me. /leaves thread

yah, comphermc made it... and then locked it when he became a mod (i think.... or he just deleted it :/, but he made one...) and plus, we kind of had this debate already in the scientific discussion thread... a little side debate. so... A: you made a thread, that has already been made, and locked/deleted by a mod B: you are debating something that was debated a few days ago anyways. and come to the conclusion, we will never know, but a flying spaghetti monster is as reasonable as a the universe just existing, or coming out f nothing... so i end this thread with the simple word LOCK

Exactly rocky. Christianity in my opinion is a mind control thing that sucks anyone they see into believing it. They have no physical prove that god is real so they can't say anything.

I'm a Christian, but what I call a sensible one. I am not sure if God exists, but hope someone has control of my life. I don't take the bible as reality. I know that humans evolved, that the world is a lot older than 7000 years and that Jesus may never have existed. BUT That is no reason not to take the bible's messages on life as fiction and I try to live by them, such as treating your neighbour as yourself. God, if he exists, created the universe through the big bang.

There have been religious debate threads just like this in the past and so in "prophetic manner" I am locking this, knowing full well how it will end if I don't. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and no-one should feel they have to defend it. 'Debating' is merely a cover word for the chance to knock what others believe. You're welcome to feel offended if you so choose, but you can't debate something that is so personal in a way that does anyone's position justice. Locked.
