Platform that only falls when someone steps on it
Archive: 7 posts
Hey everyone, I have a question: How would I go about creating a platform that ONLY falls when someone steps on it, and then rises back into place when they're gone? I would use a sensor switch, but that goes for all three layers and I don't want that. Neither do I want to use a MGS spotlight, since that senses above and/or below the platform. Thanks, Ryhas | 2010-07-16 19:23:00 Author: Ryhas ![]() Posts: 179 |
The MGS spotlight is currently the only switch that is layer dependent. | 2010-07-16 19:57:00 Author: Trader Sam ![]() Posts: 92 |
MS can still work and not fall from bottom. | 2010-07-16 19:59:00 Author: JspOt ![]() Posts: 3607 |
Well, if you did decide on the proximity switch, you'd simply attatch it to the piston, set it to directional (possibly inverted). That's the same for the MGS spotlight, which is layer sensitive and your best option. Another idea would be to use springs VERY CAREFULLY so that when someone lands on the top of the platform, the top sinks down to meet the bottom and triggers a magnetic key switch to control the piston (the whole platform is split into two pieces; the bottom, which has a magnetic key switch and is attatched to the piston, and the top, which is connected to the bottom by stiff springs and has a magnetic key on it). In theory, this should work, but you'd need to mess around with the stiffness and length of the springs a lot. It can also be 1-layer only. | 2010-07-16 20:04:00 Author: Heckboy88 ![]() Posts: 179 |
Use button? Or could you use two MGS lights: if first and not second then activate? | 2010-07-16 20:09:00 Author: waD_Delma ![]() Posts: 282 |
Hidden, home-made button would work perfectly. A little material, a few springs, a piston, mag key, a mag switch, a little elbow grease and... viola! ![]() | 2010-07-16 20:12:00 Author: piggabling ![]() Posts: 2979 |
Use button? That surprisingly simple answer... might work ![]() ![]() | 2010-07-16 20:12:00 Author: Heckboy88 ![]() Posts: 179 |
