According to Inafune, Mega Man Universe will be a game where players can play as their favorite Mega Man characters (including the macho, middle-aged Mega Man from the original game's NES boxart) or other Capcom characters. A primary goal for the title is to offer an experience where Mega Man fans can "unite", a possible implication that online multiplayer will play a key aspect.

Inafune then went on to say more details on the game are expected to arrive in the future. There was no gameplay shown, but Inafune assured the crowd he's determined to show us something soon. Concerning a release date, the game "won't be out for a while."

In closing, Inafune let loose that many more Mega Man announcements are coming this year, and confirmed that an "oft-requested thing that we all want" is coming to fruition. The crowd immediately began to shout for "Mega Man Legends 3, to which Inafune replied with a swift "Thank You."

So this means that the thread will be about the secret mega man game as well. Also Capcom of japan has the Mega man universe website up HERE! (http://www.capcom.co.jp/megaman_universe/) just a little warning though. The sites in japanese.

Edit 3: the secret mega man game might not be mega man legends 3 judgeing from this post from kejis blog:Among them were many pulling support for Mega Man (Rockman), which really moved me. I was also happy that there are many desiring a continuation of Rockman DASH(the japanese name for mega man legends). I wanted to yell that I want to make it more than they want me to. I am truly grateful. As long as the fans support me, I’ll do my best. also mega man universe is coming out in the winter.

Capcom has also revamped both the Mega Man Universe website and the official "all series" Rockman website.

The MMU page (http://www.capcom.co.jp/megaman_universe/index.html) sports a new layout and sections that detail various gameplay elements, though nothing we don't already know. Capcom Japan's official Rockman webpage got a major face lift tonight (http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockman/), too. The site is broken down into several new areas: Goods Section (http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockman/goods.html): browse boatloads of Rockman products. Events Section (http://www.capcom.co.jp/rockman/event.html): News on upcoming Rockman-related events goes here. we surmised from the very beginning, is an amalgamation of familiar elements in a new presentation. According to producer Akiko Ito, it'll contain even more familiar elements than we've seen: the levels and bosses of Mega Man 2.

Ito told Joystiq during an interview, "The base story and the base game is taken from Mega Man 2, so players can experience Mega Man 2 through this game." She explained that these "default" stages don't have to remain in their original form, as well: "Basically, we're going to create the stages from Mega Man 2 faithfully in this new style, and you can play them as is, or you can customize different sections of them, or you can customize all of it if you want to, so pretty much you can do whatever you'd like with the stages."

We're calling it right now: the most popular player-created stage will be "Quick Man, but without those laser things."

Gatchapin, dubbed 'Megapin' for the occasion, will be obtainable via a future DLC update. What's more, Megapin won't be the last collaborative character, it seems. Coinciding with his reveal, Capcom opened up a new section on their official Universe website called "Tie-ups (http://www.capcom.co.jp/megaman_universe/tie-up.html)", a space devoted solely to collaborative characters.

a new mega man legends game is in development!
Hideki Kamiya, former director to some of Capcom's biggest games, knows something we don't know about Mega Man Legends. In a series of back-and-forth Tweets, Kamiya is teasing fans of the series that they will pleased with something coming down the pike. The first tweet (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24777258637) is as follows

"Oh, finally, I was introduced to Capcom’s Kawano-san today, who was also the maker of Rockman DASH. But when I told him the wish to “make a sequel to DASH” from a certain person, he gave me some sort of grin… If it’s good it’s good I suppose… Goodnight.”

..and then, in a followup Tweet (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24820780249):

"If you're Dash fan, you'll be happy soon."

and another (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24824444918), in response to the tweet (http://twitter.com/TreSanBan/status/24822275316), "Don't toy with our hearts like that Kamiya-san!":

"...you gotta believe Kawano san!"
Sounds to me like Capcom is working on something Legends related with Yoshinori Kawano (http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,147934/) (director of MML1&2, Tron Bonne) being involved. Kamiya, though no longer associated with Capcom, was likely made aware of it from his meeting with Kawano -- thus ensuing the "If you're [a] Dash fan, you'll be happy soon" tweet. Of course, this is all so ambiguous it could turn out to be anything...or nothing. Nevertheless, couldn't hurt to speculate.

There's two more tweets of interest to keep you on edge. The first tweet (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24840708521) is in response to "Kamiya-san Why must you toy with our emotions? We NEED Dash 3", to which Kamiya said:


"All I can tell is just wait!"
and the second (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24840561528), a response to "No Dash 3 at all, huh?"


"Just wait and see."

but thats not all thats proof!

The Shadow (he leaked mega man 9 info so you should trust him) has come forth to confirm that a Mega Man Legends sequel is indeed currently in development at Capcom. The project is "very tight lipped" at the moment and as such, he cannot reveal further details at this time. However, official news on the project is expected to surface after Capcom shifts their focus away from Mega Man Universe. No time frame was disclosed.

Further, The Shadow could not confirm if the title of the game is actually "Mega Man Legends 3" because the project has no working name at this point. Nevertheless, it is considered to be the next entry in the series.

Despite The Shadow's track record, it's best to take this with a grain of salt. "Hope for the best, expect the worst", as they say. I'll be keeping you posted on any new developments should they arise.

Ah I see. Yeah, it's definitely Quick Man and not Bass. Still plenty of unidentified robots/characters though.

Also, the stage design seems pretty hardcore at parts. I wonder if this will be a game with a level editor and level sharing? That could be pretty awesome. 		2010-09-04 14:45:00

anything but confirmed also some details have been revealed at pax

•Subtle implication that there's more than one type of play style; trailers only showed the "tip of the iceberg."
•Customization is a big part of the game. Capcom rep. strongly hinted at a stage editor of sorts.
• Ryu, as well as the three Mega Man variants, are confirmed as playable characters. Hints of a large roster of playable characters.
•Not only do the three Mega Men differ in appearance (Mega Man, Bad Box Art Mega Man and Rockman), they each have their own play styles and abilities. Bad Box Art Mega Man, for instance, can fire two shots at a time.
•The "angry" Mega Man was designed by Masafumi Kimoto. Why is he so angry? That's just Kimoto's style, apparently.
•Although the trailers made it seem like MMU is largely influenced by Mega Man 2, there's a "very good possibility" we'll be seeing content from other Mega Man games.
•Mega Man Universe not making it to Wii has to do with the file size limitations of Nintendo's WiiWare service. Capcom noted they would like to be able to support a Wii version, but couldn't at this time.
•Target release date of Spring 2011.
•"Everything we've shown will make more sense" come Tokyo Game Show, according to the rep.

I am now looking foward to this game! I wonder if Mega Man Volnutt will be playable. I haven't played any of the Mega Man Legends games, I just felt attached to him when he appeared in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Also, I wonder if the Mecha Dragon will make an encore appearence.

(I also wonder if you can make your own Mega Man game where, as in, you fight against Robot Masters but then shake it all up when it turns out that the villian is acually Sigma from the X series (where boss enemies are usualy referred to as 'Mavericks&apos instead of Dr. Wily )		2010-09-06 22:49:00

At least we have a character creator and a stage editor. Will we be able to make entire games? Can we make our own bosses? What about Dr. Wily? Will we be able to customise the machines he uses?

we surmised from the very beginning, is an amalgamation of familiar elements in a new presentation. According to producer Akiko Ito, it'll contain even more familiar elements than we've seen: the levels and bosses of Mega Man 2.

Ito told Joystiq during an interview, "The base story and the base game is taken from Mega Man 2, so players can experience Mega Man 2 through this game." She explained that these "default" stages don't have to remain in their original form, as well: "Basically, we're going to create the stages from Mega Man 2 faithfully in this new style, and you can play them as is, or you can customize different sections of them, or you can customize all of it if you want to, so pretty much you can do whatever you'd like with the stages."

We're calling it right now: the most popular player-created stage will be "Quick Man, but without those laser things."

Gatchapin, dubbed 'Megapin' for the occasion, will be obtainable via a future DLC update. What's more, Megapin won't be the last collaborative character, it seems. Coinciding with his reveal, Capcom opened up a new section on their official Universe website called "Tie-ups (http://www.capcom.co.jp/megaman_universe/tie-up.html)", a space devoted solely to collaborative characters.

a new mega man legends game is in development!
Hideki Kamiya, former director to some of Capcom's biggest games, knows something we don't know about Mega Man Legends. In a series of back-and-forth Tweets, Kamiya is teasing fans of the series that they will pleased with something coming down the pike. The first tweet (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24777258637) is as follows

"Oh, finally, I was introduced to Capcom?s Kawano-san today, who was also the maker of Rockman DASH. But when I told him the wish to ?make a sequel to DASH? from a certain person, he gave me some sort of grin? If it's good it's good I suppose? Goodnight.?

..and then, in a followup Tweet (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24820780249):

"If you're Dash fan, you'll be happy soon."

and another (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24824444918), in response to the tweet (http://twitter.com/TreSanBan/status/24822275316), "Don't toy with our hearts like that Kamiya-san!":

Sounds to me like Capcom is working on something Legends related with Yoshinori Kawano (http://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,147934/) (director of MML1&2, Tron Bonne) being involved. Kamiya, though no longer associated with Capcom, was likely made aware of it from his meeting with Kawano -- thus ensuing the "If you're [a] Dash fan, you'll be happy soon" tweet. Of course, this is all so ambiguous it could turn out to be anything...or nothing. Nevertheless, couldn't hurt to speculate.

There's two more tweets of interest to keep you on edge. The first tweet (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24840708521) is in response to "Kamiya-san Why must you toy with our emotions? We NEED Dash 3", to which Kamiya said:


"All I can tell is just wait!"
and the second (http://twitter.com/PG_kamiya/status/24840561528), a response to "No Dash 3 at all, huh?"


"Just wait and see."

but thats not all thats proof!

The Shadow (he leaked mega man 9 info so you should trust him) has come forth to confirm that a Mega Man Legends sequel is indeed currently in development at Capcom. The project is "very tight lipped" at the moment and as such, he cannot reveal further details at this time. However, official news on the project is expected to surface after Capcom shifts their focus away from Mega Man Universe. No time frame was disclosed.

Further, The Shadow could not confirm if the title of the game is actually "Mega Man Legends 3" because the project has no working name at this point. Nevertheless, it is considered to be the next entry in the series.

Despite The Shadow's track record, it's best to take this with a grain of salt. "Hope for the best, expect the worst", as they say. I'll be keeping you posted on any new developments should they arise.

wow, the game looks really cool, but at first i thought it was ALL the megaman personifications in one game : (i.e. megaman X, megaman battle network, megaman zero, legends megaman, classic megaman, and the newest one that came for the DS or even the cartoon series megaman), well at least is not too bad, i really liked megaman X-X3, i would like to see a megaman X revamp (or at-least see sigma being finally killed after like 8 tries), oh and the hadouken megaman is not that new, on megaman X you can get the hadouken (1 shot kill for bosses! but req full life bar energy), and in megaman X3 you can get the dragon punch.

And pretty cool for the megaman legends 3, i never played megaman legends 2, but 1 was pretty cool, even tho the story was kind of shady.		2010-09-29 18:23:00

consider the game cancelled.

1. the site was hacked
2. the site just says they stopped development not cancelled it meaning they might continue working on it after the earthquakes calmed down.

Can't believe this game was cancelled. It looked so promising. I'm starting to think Capcom hates Mega Man. First they cut him from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and now they cancel this game. I say we equip are mega busters and head over to Capcom's headquarters. Show them our rage.2011-04-01 02:20:00
