White or Black Guitar?
Archive: 20 posts
Hi everyone, i'm in need of opinions! I'm looking to buy a cheap-ish new guitar, and i've got my eye on the Vintage V100. But I just can't decide which colour I like best! http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/2b76aa9997c7f54e14c7eb4e2aed6157.jpg (Ignore the Amp) I like the white, but I think it'd look so much better with Chrome Hardware. http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/fc65203fca5299e651a1f0c19a1cd235.jpg Really liking the look, but i'm not too keen on buying another black guitar, and black seems so... normal... Gaah!, I can't decide! Help! | 2010-07-16 14:24:00 Author: BlahYourHamster Posts: 177 |
Black looks classic and cool, white doesn't look ... so cool... lol I'm not much as help /runs | 2010-07-16 14:29:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
it depends what sort of music you wanna play, if it's relaxed sorta music when I would go white, but if it was rock and stuff like that I would go black. They both look pretty awesome. | 2010-07-16 14:57:00 Author: Ainsl3y_xo Posts: 478 |
What matches the clothes you wear better? I always vote black over a white guitar, but if you already have a black one... then white might be a great choice since it has your interest more at the moment. Looks to me aren't as important as how it sounds or plays. To me, even copies of the same guitar have different personalities. | 2010-07-16 15:39:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
My guitar's pink with shiny bits all over it, so you don't want to ask me. | 2010-07-16 22:24:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
I have a blue ukulele, a kazoo, and a harmonica... I guess that makes me qualified. I'd choose the guitar that matches your personality and tastes best. If you're more calm & collected (laid-back and stuff), I'd go with white. If you're more energetic & lively (maybe a bit of a head banger), then I'd go with black. But if you can't decide on either two, I'd try and find the same guitar in a more different color (if the pricing reasonable), like a Sunburst (http://www.gmm.com.pl/duze_zdjecia/Vintage_v100_mrhb_icon.jpg) design or even just a Wooden (http://www.elmusic.co.uk/images/products/large/large1440.jpg) finish. | 2010-07-16 23:45:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
Well, I'll give you food for thought and you form your own opinion. Chrome hardware can be nicer than gold plated since the gold plating corrodes and can look yucky. (From sweat and what not) You wouldn't see scratches and fingerprints as easily on a white finish as on a black finish. Reflections are more pronounced on black than on white. Style really has nothing to do with color Plenty metal guitarists use white guitars, plenty blues, country, jazz, etc. players use black guitars. Ironically I think gold hardware looks better on black Especially on a Les Paul knockoff. But if it were me I'd go with the black and chrome given the two options. Then again, my Jem is white with gold hardware... | 2010-07-16 23:51:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
The white one looks really cool with the gold bits!!! | 2010-07-16 23:57:00 Author: Weretigr Posts: 2105 |
White and black aren't colours, they're shades/ Anyway, I would usually say black because I love black and I like silver more than gold, it's more understated. But these are my opinions. However I still vote for the black guitar, I just think it suits that style of guitar. | 2010-07-17 04:27:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
My guitar's pink with shiny bits all over it, so you don't want to ask me. http://www.ibanezregister.com/images/images-jems/JEM77FPeric.jpg mine is worst perhaps Anyway, I would suggest the white one, it's a lot more classy | 2010-07-17 07:04:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I have to admit I like the look of the black guitar but that's just personal preference. Also the image of the white one isn't particularly brilliant so it's difficult to make a good evaluation of it. My son has a black bass and it looks gorgeous. He also has another black guitar and a black electric violin so you can never have too much black in my opinion. Or pink! My guitar's pink with shiny bits all over it Like the sound of that! I have a blue ukulele I have a pink ukulele! Icey | 2010-07-17 09:48:00 Author: IceMaiden Posts: 1057 |
Why not get something else? Flamed/quilted maple FTW. I have a black ESP with a gold binding though, that's cool. Totally br00talz. And a sunburst Les Paul... and a natural finished Washburn Maverick that i got free. But i'm getting a white Schecter next... I think the white one looks better, just buy the chrome hardware later if you really want it. Is this your first guitar though? Do you already have an amp or do you need one of those as well? If you do, i'd recommend paying more for the amp than the guitar, as it will have more of an effect on the sound. But whatever, guitarist thread | 2010-07-17 15:50:00 Author: Unknown User |
I like white But that doesn't mean much, I like white everything better. | 2010-07-17 15:54:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
They're both pretty **** smexy. Regardless of your choice I'm sure you'll regret it and want the other one instead. It's just the nature of things. | 2010-07-17 16:13:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
White. Looks better with your signature on it once you are famous and want to donate your first guitar. ;p | 2010-07-17 16:18:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |

Well, I prefer white guitars generally, I have a white guitar that could have been black and I don't regret it! Just go with whatever you feel looks best, but if it were up to me, I'd pick white. | 2010-07-18 17:31:00 Author: resistance1 Posts: 812 |
If you wear a lot of black clothes on stage then opt for while, else choose the black. Black is classier nearly all of the time. | 2010-07-18 23:48:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
