How to Upload LBP Photos to the Internet

How to Upload LBP Photos to the Internet There are already a few posts out there about this, but I decided to make a definitive guide with multiple methods for what is probably the most asked question in LBPCentral. Note: In LBP2, pictures automatically upload to your lbp.me account, making the following guide irrelevant. How to Export to HDD To start, take your picture in LBP. In your photos, scroll over the picture and press square. Scroll to "Export to HDD" and press x. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19222 It will take a few seconds to export, and if you don't see a successful export pop-up message, try again. If you have to export multiple pictures, do it slowly and wait for one picture to export before exporting another one. Naming your picture in LBP can help if you want to be organized and find it quickly with other files on your computer. Note that I'm using a second controller because that's the only way to take pictures of menus being used by the first controller. The "Upload" option has nothing to do with "Export to HDD." It uploads pictures to your profile and the level you were at when you uploaded them, if you were in a level. After uploading your pictures, quit LBP. The picture exports to the Photo section of your PS3, after the Users and Settings sections. Method One For method one, you need a memory stick/flash drive. They're very useful and cheap. http://www.instructables.com/image/FVL0CO7FAQDX9CU/Boot-and-Run-Ubuntu-from-a-Flash-Drive.jpg Plug it into the USB port of your PS3 where you'd plug in your controllers. In the Photo column of your PS3, scroll to the bottom where there will be the most recent album, titled with the month. To copy all the album's pictures to your computer, press triangle on the album, scroll and press copy, and copy to the flash drive. To copy individual pictures to your computer, press x on the album to view its contents and copy the individual pictures from there. Unplug the flash drive from your PS3 and plug it into a USB port on your laptop or tower computer. From there, when the flash drive is plugged in, it is in the Computer section of your files. Make an account on a good, free image uploading website like imageshack, tinypic, photobucket, flickr, or even an LBPC album. Upload your picture there and it will have a link on the internet that you can wrap in tags to display your picture. Method Two Method Two is to upload a picture to an image uploading website directly from the PS3's browser. This is not usually recommended because the PS3's browser is not very good and doesn't work with many websites. Go to the Network section of your PS3 and scroll to Internet Search (not Internet Browser.) Find an image uploading website that is compatible with the PS3. Most aren't, such as LBPC albums or Photobucket which are two I tested. A good example of an image uploading site that is compatible with the PS3's Browser is tinypic.com. Upload your picture there and it will have a link on the internet that you can wrap in [IMG] tags to display your picture. Method Three Method Three is to email it to yourself on the PS3's browser so you can check the email on a computer. If you are using a gmail, search for the google homepage and log in. Click on "Compose Mail". Then, retype your own email address in "To:", click on "browse" for attachments, which will bring you to Photo Albums, find your pictures you want to attach, and send the email. Log in to your email on a computer. Again: Make an account on a good, free image uploading website like imageshack, tinypic, photobucket, flickr, or even an LBPC album. Upload your picture there and it will have a link on the internet that you can wrap in [IMG] tags to display your picture. ------------------------ [IMG]http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19223 Eventually, I will end up with this picture. | 2010-07-15 01:41:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |

[B]yea is good but I already know how to do that lol Well.. most do. The point of a tutorial is for the tons of new members that show up asking how to do this. We can point them to this or they can possibly find this before making yet another thread asking the same question. Really well done Incinerator! | 2010-07-15 13:42:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Great tutorial, it explains very well! | 2010-07-15 14:14:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
A good example of an image uploading site that is compatible with the PS3's Browser is tinypic.com. Upload your picture there and it will have a link on the internet that you can wrap in [IMG] tags to display your picture. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think tinypic.com works on the PS3's browser any more, neither do most of the picture uploading sites. However, you did forget another method of uploading pictures (I'm doing this from memory since I'm not on my PS3): Download "Photo Gallery" on your PS3 under pictures. Once it's downloaded go into it and you should see all of your pictures on your PS3, including the one you exported. Click triangle on the picture you wish to upload (Think it's triangle) to bring up a mini menu at the bottom of the screen. Since I'm doing this from memory, I'm not entirely sure, but there should be something like "Upload". Press X on it and choose your proffered site; Picasa Web Albums (http://picasaweb.google.com/home) or Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/). Once it's successfully uploaded, log in using the account you used to upload the pictures, taaa daaa!! | 2010-07-15 17:21:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think tinypic.com works on the PS3's browser any more, neither do most of the picture uploading sites. I asked Silverleon and took his word for it but I'll try it myself. EDIT: Success! I uploaded this picture to TinyPic, copied the link, and pasted it into this post from the PS3 browser. The size and quality is the same as the other picture that was uploaded to one of my LBPC albums. http://i27.tinypic.com/x6d5hx.jpg | 2010-07-16 00:22:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
I just saw that my Flash drive is the same as the example in this thread, even the same GB :o | 2010-07-16 01:01:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
Oh that's why you were asking! Good guide indeed. Sadly, i'm almost certain like pretty much every guide to EVERYTHING people post here, it will be ignore by any moemebers that don't know this and we'll still end up with as many "How do I???" questions, since apparently its soo difficult to look in the tutorials, use the search btton r to simply goole it. Maybe stcky-ing it may help a little, altho i'm pretty sure people tend to ignore everything before asking for some reason. | 2010-07-16 01:16:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

I do the usb stick thing but I'm always disappointed with the poor resolution of the image, especially if I am doing a wide shot. I do not have a capture card on my pc is there anything I can do/set for better res? | 2010-07-21 10:27:00 Author: Strangepom Posts: 445 |

It's nice finally having somewhere to point to whenever they ask about this! | 2010-07-25 08:27:00 Author: koltonaugust Posts: 1382 |
PS It looks like your sackboy's drunk. lol, that's part of why it makes me laugh i used to use the pic uploader here and i just spent all night trying diffrent websites for part 2 and it took me 2 hrs maybe you should post some reliable links I like tinypic and photobucket a lot. They both have giant upload links in the middle of the upload section, and it takes seconds to upload a picture. There are also multi-upload methods to upload many pictures at once. LBPC is actually good too. After the forum's vBulletin 4.0 update a few months ago, it became a lot easier, and you can now upload multiple pictures at once. | 2010-07-25 18:30:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
Nice tutorial. | 2010-07-25 20:07:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
The tutorial was great and I am sure it will help most new people. The one thing that I felt could be expanded upon was after 'It is in Computer" is a little broad and people not that technically inclined might not know where that is. You should list how to get to computer and the different names on different operating systems, because it's not a Windows world. | 2010-07-27 12:40:00 Author: tanrockstan34 Posts: 1076 |
