beta officially expired and works for me!!

Archive: 35 posts

my time from the beta is officially expired, and i left the beta on, so maybe i could keep playing... and it worked!!!!

i'm still in the game, but when i press the ps button, i see the beta and i press triangle and click info, it sais expired!!! So i'm 100% sure that as long as i keep the beta on 24/7, i can keep playing it... but i can't move or turn off my ps3 or touch it... or else i lose...

can anybody possibly conform the ability to restart it after the expiration?

Dude. If someone invites you to play with them, do NOT accept the request. Happened to me and now I can't play anymore. 2008-10-13 01:37:00

so what should i do?

give in to the peer preassure, or keep my ps3 on?

it's well ventilated all around, not closed on any side... maybe i should just keep letting it run?

shut it down. for the sake of everyone. the reason it still works is because there saveing all of the levels people made.. but when they get them saved.
lbp beta goes by by. the experation is wacked cause of the new beta levels being saved.
as they were not going to do that.

so... if your ps3 is on lbp when they clsoe it down. who knows what could happen.
but i wouldent leave it on to find out.

i would shut it down as well. One because it may cause problems. Two because it is only 9 days before the real thing

and three because i dont wanna get far behind anyone in ability

kidding

i don't think anything could possibly happen. i mean, worst case scanario the game crashes... i'm 99 percent sure, that the game could never have any affect on the ps3 xross mu... like i sad worst case scenario my ps3 crashes and i'd need a nice restart...

but we all saw that if we can't connect to the lbp servers it just times out.. and sais it can't connect...

sorry to double post but i wanted to post an update...

i got tired so i shut it down... like i expected i couldent get back in, it was a one way street

oh well, i can look at the pretty wallpaper the execution file brings up till the game comes out...

thnks for all the input...

Well there are like three game videos in the PSN store. It's only a little more than a week away, go read a book =P Or download some demos from the PSN store.

It seems as if you're leaning more towards keeping it on, but do what your heart desires.

Also, there has been a bunch of newly released demos recently.

I tried using xlink kai on the already broken beta(expired) and nothing happened.
Only other way I can think to get it back would be to open up your ps3 and get the battery out to reset the internal clock.

Er no. You'd need to go to media molecule and change the internal clock of there servers. Even then I doubt it wold work.

Have some patience people.

Yea I was playing with another guy and we figured we'd keep playing till the beta crashed on us, I had a feeling it wouldn't be that long and in fact it wasn't. Think we squezed an extra hour or so while getting messages from people lamenting they could not get back in and then it was our turn But funny I didn't mind. About a week to go until we have the full thing! I just got back to reading my Star Wars 'Unleashed book xD

I feel your pain, a buddy of mine that I was hoping to play throught he game with is off on the first two days from work, and I'm just starting my new job so chances are I can't get the 21st off Oh well, come 5h I'ma rushin' home to play some LBP!

yea, i turned it off, but it didi'nt crash for me for many hours after expiration... it dident crash at all infact...

mine kept running till i turned it off around 2 a.m ( considering it expired 6:59 p.m i'd say i'm lucky... )
and everything worked fine, i could still see all the levels on the internet and i could still search for all levels and play them... i even uploaded another level at around 9 p.m 2 hours after the beta closed, and i had no issues... i now wish i kept it on all night w/e ill have the full game in a week, i can deal...

so does anybody know if there are more tools or matierials or switches and stuff in the full game?

Do whatever you want... Just make sure you don't spend the next 9 days in front of the PS3. Go get some sun... meet some women... etc.2008-10-14 05:43:00

There is no way to validate when the software should end server side, and I dont think it could be determined by a connection to the media molecule servers.

How do you essentially start and set a timer if a ps3 is not connected to the internet, especially when the software is only just being installed.
You could base it off the download date of the file, which would be the only way to validate a stop date from 'server side'.

Im not worried too much about not playing the beta, means i can finally catch up on work, but its just an idea for those who want to try/potentially screw up their PS3's.
=D
I dont think the flash/nand chip boots without the clock battery inside it btw - so caution to the guys who try it =)
