switch and the piston

i am making a fast paced mission , i already made the emitter that shoots the bombs around, but i have a big problem which should be easy to fix but im not sure how to.

i attach a piston to the machine so that it moves however it has to be activated by a switch ( button, motion sensor or lever thing) the problem is once i let go of the switch the machine stops moving and working, can u tell me what settings to have on either one of the switches.

Ok I am not entirely sure of the question but i think what you need is a perm switch. This is assuming you want the player to trigger the machine to turn on and after that it stays on regardless of whether they are in the switch zone?

Simply make the switch a one shot, attach it to a block of dissolve. Attach a magnetic key to that block of dissolve. Then put a magnetic key switch(same colour) set to inverted on/off next to it. Hook that up to your machine.

So when the player triggers the switch, it dissolves the magnetic key, thus turning on the magnetic key switch and leaving your machine on permanently.
