Ideas For Art Competition?
Archive: 10 posts
Hello all I'm just going to get straight to the point. My city holds a young artists competition for up to and including 18yr olds. being 17 I only have 2 more chances to enter so I decided to give it a shot. I'm hoping on entering 2 sections, which are Drawing and Digital Print. I'm just going to keep them to a simple A4 sheet of paper. This competition is completely open so it has no theme, which leads me to my problem. I can't think of what to draw or what to make for the digital print. So I was wondering if any of you fantastic artists out there could help me decide on something to draw and/or something to make for the digital print. I'm just using lead pencil for the drawing, I'm no good with coloured pencils. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Especially since I can win a cool $300 for the drawing and $200 for the digital print. Cheers Will | 2010-07-14 13:25:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |

Last time I seen something like that the winners were sometimes like portraits of faces, something relevant to the time, war, climate, whatever. Still lifes but these things tended to be done in paint and oils etc. Dunno what kind of standard there is for this comp but the self portraits and other portraits I think always do well, or faces of animals. | 2010-07-14 17:10:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |

Thanks for the help everyone, I've had some time to think it over and I want to head towards something that incorporates cars and the environment. The obvious answer is "ooh, cars are bad for the environment, blah blah blah." But i find that pretty boring. So I'm trying to think of ways to link cars and the environmant in a more interesting way. I quite like the idea of Brutal Legends environment. If you look at the cactus on the right it's actually car's exhaust pipes. http://mmomfg.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/brutal-legend-5.jpg | 2010-07-15 07:40:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |

Best of luck to you in the composition and execution of your piece, as well as placing in the contest. | 2010-07-15 23:56:00 Author: TheZimInvader Posts: 3149 |
