Sticker Quicker: A how-to mini guide

Archive: 14 posts

Hey everyone-

As a bonafide sticker-holic, I spend a huge amount of time scrolling through my popit menu in search of the perfect sticker. Because I'm lazy, I've come up with a couple of simple tricks that help me save time, and I figured I should share those tricks with all of you.*

Sticker Palettes

Don't you wish there was a way to move all your favorite stickers somewhere that was easy to find? Well... there is! Just create a big chunk of any material you like and stick your favorite stickers on it. Capture this as an object and presto! You've just made your first "sticker palette". Now, anytime you need any of those stickers, just go into My Objects and select your palette. You can use the sticker edit tool to grab the stickers you need and place them where you want, and simply delete the palette when you're done.

This technique is useful for a variety of other things as well, such as creating characters or themed environments. Need to make a jungle? Put all your favorite "foliage" stickers on a palette and capture it. Construction zone? No problem. Assemble all those yellow-and-black striped stickers and any other signs you might need and make a palette out of that. The possibilities are endless but the searching for stickers isn't. Ah, bliss.

Faster Access to the Sticker Edit Tool

Because I am never satisfied with how something turns out the first time, I am constantly using the sticker edit tool to make tiny little adjustments to my stickers that probably only I will notice. Scrolling ALL the way to the top of the sticker menu over and over gets very old, so here's an easy way to access the sticker edit tool more quickly.

Once inside the sticker menu, press the 'square' button and change how your stickers are sorted (either "category" or "theme"). This will return you to the very top of the sticker menu, right where the sticker edit tool lives. Until someone invents bread that slices itself, this is the best thing ever.

Enjoy!

*These little tricks of mine are hardly ground-breaking or original and you've probably heard me mention them before, but I still think it's worthwhile to post them somewhere easy to locate. This way you don't have to spend as much time scrolling through posts as I do scrolling through stickers, and thus retain what little sanity you may have left that I, by the way, no longer do. At this point I have realized that I am creating what has become one of my signature long-winded and pointless disclaimers which I promised myself I would not do but have ended up with anyway. Should you still be reading this, you are probably waiting for some sort of off-the wall random statement from me involving shaving your head and singing Miley Cyrus songs at the top of your lungs while wearing tissue boxes for shoes and doing the Macarena, but I don't think I'll say anything about that. Instead I'll issue a broad statement about the horrifying nature of avocados and how only the dark forces of evil could have concocted such a disgusting and squishy object that people claim to be delicious. I now congratulate you for your patience, partial insanity, and unimaginable boredom for slogging through this nonsense. You may now redeem the word "asparagus" for a tray of virtual brownies.

*Om Nom Nom Nom*

I don't have a big problem with the giant amount of stickers, scrolling through them gives me a chance to discover stickers that I forgot about or could use. The brownies were delicious though!

Excellent little mini guide Taffey.

I don't use as many stickers as most creators, but I own all of the DL packs, and that is a ton of stickers, so going to the top to get the edit tool takes like twenty minutes.

Thanks for the tip.

Ah, but you didn't use the magic word! You'll have to ask Tummbleb33 for some.

Read the disclaimer. Nice!! Too bad I'm not hungry for virtual food.
As for the sticker shortcuts, I don't think I'll ever do the palette method. Mainly because I usually create an object/decoration with stickers already implented or I usually start adding stickers on the landscape at the end.
Thr second method, I'm glad you mentioned this. I've been using this method for about quite a while. Maybe 3-5 months... not sure. (During my Metroid levels for sure) I just became annoyed going up, then I realized changing the organization of stickers causes to bring you to the sticker cursor.
Anyways, I'm sure this thread will help others.
