The Honey Hive 2

The Honey Hive 2SX_shookie99
The sequel to my most popular level is now published. More gameplay mechanics, enhanced visuals, platforming, honeypot cannons, honeycomb boosters, paint gunnin' and jet packin' your way through the honey hive. story, boss fights, and bees too.
Hey its me again and you probably think i am crazy but the first Honey Hive level was recently advertised here and spotlighted but i made that level over a month ago. since then i have been hard at work on the sequel and it is finally published.

The Queen Bee has been bee-napped, or has she? Find out as you explore the honey hive. The honey pots are back along with new gameplay mechanics, platforming goodness and better visuals than the first one, 3 mini boss fights and one final boss, paintgun is back and two areas for the jetpack.

Apologies: first for not having pictures for you, second because the thermo for this level is maxed out and i cant make changes even though i need too, third because towards the end of the level the visuals suffered because of thermo.

you will notice how hard i focused on the visuals early in the level. this is not an F4F thread but feel free to give it a go and give feedback if you wish.

Well, we definitely enjoyed your first Honey Hive level very much - I'll be sure to give this a go as soon as possible. Although if you want more feedback, you should try and sort out those images, and perhaps put a link to this level in your spotlighted level showcase threaad.2010-07-13 06:18:00

Not as good as the last due to some issues imo.

- Bee NPC magic mouth stops the bubble combo
- Green plasma shooters (+ queen) have no real danger. I just stood at the checkpoints and fired.
- Worst part: The part where the paint gun is guarded by spikes in the back layer, with honey hexagon obsuring them. You can't tell where the spikes start. The best solution I found was jumping over the spikes, then quickly grabbing the sponge. It can be hard to grab the right layer.
- Story. The first bee says "something is wrong with the queen", the second says "she's up ahead", then you just shoot her. :/ Since you're having fun in the hive, wouldn't you want to help the queen instead of killing her?

I did like that part where you could "tap r1" jump up to the paint gun, shoot a few, land back on the platform, then do it again.

Ok I played it, and yes I liked it! Its just as good as the first, though sadly not as many plays. All of the new gameply types were very fun and kept it from feeling like a repeat of the first. The bees were well made and fit with the level design, although the story was a bit confusing, the first speech bubble said you would:
Fight 'him' the evil monster, then later it changes to 'the queen bee is going to kill you!' and then you fight her, I didn't get it. Oh well.

Over all a very good level, 5 stars and a heart!

Oh and congrats on the spotlight of the first one!

This was the 1st Honey hive I played and it was pretty fun. Liked the way you detail the level and how you did the platforming
was very good.

Positives:
- Very well designed specially with the Bee's and level
- Platforming
-Length

Negatives:
- Boss fight was a little to easy. should try making it a tab bit harder because I could stand in one spot and kill it.. Might wanna
put it so that it shoots everywhere so you can sit in one spot and kill it.

Overall the level was fun. :star::star::star::star:

Hey, you've made a thread on the sequel. Well here's what I thought.

Positives
-----------
1. Great scenery, as usual
2. Nice platforming and amount even though there was less gameplay than in the first, at least I think.

3. Story was okay, could've been a little better.
2. I agree that the boss battle wasn't that difficult but it was still pretty fun.

Overall, I think by seeing your levels, yo do a great job with scenery and gameplay. For stories and characters, it's okay but it could be a little better not to be mean. 4 stars and a heart.

@midnight_heist: thanks for the great feedback...i re-worked the area with the spikes and my initial thoughts were to allow the player to swing on the back layer of honeycombs or to do what you did which is jump over and grab the front layer. the boss fights are propably not as good as they should be but i had to be alert of thermo and it is more fun to get in close to the fight and dodge anyway. also i tweaked the story a bit differently since you played it. and finally you liked the part with the paintgun where you boost up shoot, boost/shoot etc. which is one way to do it but if you look in the second picture i posted you will see me blasting those honeycombs with the paintgun from a platform on the left which is fun to do and a little hard to pull off. thanks again.

@sackracer: as i stated above i have tweak the story. thanks for the great feedback and the heart and 5 stars.

@sabre: thanks for the insights and feedback. yep the boss fights are a bit easy but again, it is always more fun to jump in the fight close up, dodge and counter, dodge and counter, err wait i sound like doc brown from punchout, lol

@arnaldo: well i cant complain at all with your post. i am very glad you liked it/loved it. part 3 will be a while as i am working on 2 different levels. thanks again

@dragonvarsity: i completely agree with you. i am not a story teller for sure and i really do stink at characters. if you read the above info you will notice i have changed the story a bit that lends itself a little more for another sequel. thanks for the great feedback yet again.
