Level you had most Trouble Creating

I was just reading the abandoned level ideas and thought it would be neat to hear what levels that you DID pull through even if you were so close to quitting out of frustration. To start I will say... Ecco the Dolphin: Perils of the Coral Reef. Technically this shouldn't count because I did give up on it, but when it was beatable. My LBW5 level (Working Overtime). I only JUST got it entered in time I think I had about 5hrs left untill the deadline or something. Looking back at it now there is a huge number of things wrong with it but it was great fun, albeit frustrating, to create and I'm really proud of it. My current project "Steam Paint - Locomotive Leviathan". I'm still building it, but talk about really squeezing every last drop out of the thermo. That plus it's my first level to properly use the extra layers and I've flung myself right into the deep end with huge derailed trains in the backround (a la the one you climb in Uncharted 2). Without a doubt, SackMech Mission 5. I had so many troubles creating that level that I almost quit the project entirely. Not only did everything end up not working the way I imagined it would, in the end I realized that even if it DID work out, the level would have been boring and pointless. I found my latest level 'Cirque de la Nuit' a nightmare to create (excuse the pun ) There are lots of emitters which set off invisible walls, when all of these and accidentally triggered and you don't realise for a couple of days worth of creating you suddenly wonder why your levels broke... it then turns out to take a couple of hours just to delete all invisible walls and emitters and then reapply all emitters and set to 1 emitted etc etc.... When creating Edna's Testing Facility I had loads of issues. There was the thermo, which was so bad that activating the survival challenge would overheat the level, and the challenge wouldn't start. After a while I found that emitters within emitters are not a good idea, and after getting rid of those the thermo dropped massively. Then there was the conveyor belt. I tried so many different combinations trying to get the platforms to move across without breaking or leaving gaps. At one point I was so lost that my brain just stopped working! I had to lie down on the bed for a while! After that I was able to solve it quite quickly, but I really just couldn't figure out a way of fixing it. | 2010-07-11 22:26:00 Author: Otune Posts: 131 |
I remember having a lot of trouble making the ramp in my Calvin & Hobbes level. It wouldn't match togther properly, and those LBP tree logo objects have a terrible rounded base for gluing. Unhearted: Drakes Misfortune 2. I fixed a few problems after publishing and it hit the 160 hour bug. I had so many problems making it as well, ideas that didnt work,crashes, crisis of confidence, or it just being plain bad etc. After the bug I had to go back to an early backup and copy and paste the new sections back in. It took me 6 weeks to create, and another 1.5 weeks to fix it. I thought about just deleting it and giving up, but pleased I didn't, I think it's my best level tbh. Also, when doing Mars Attacks II,I used the trigger the intro and move on creating, once it was triggered it played and had to be rebuilt, I must have re done that 10 sec intro at least 10 times | 2010-07-11 22:42:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
An unnamed level Im/was making. Everything messed up, like the kind of mess up that seems simple but requires you to do alot more other stuff to get it work right. Not to mention, the glitches literally almost ate the level to death. Pistons and platforms randomly dissapeared, and various kinds of sticker glitches (even a new one!!). Well, my first level Spongie Quest (as you see in my sig) I had LOTS of issues with the portal and soon I gave up on the portal Idea (Vortex part) Ijust added more story. this doesnt really count because im still in the middle of making this but only the dead remain 6 has been an apsolute nightmare to create. i finished 5 and it was my most polished zombie survival wasnt too hard or too easy the level design work great for it and all was swell. so i was like that turned out great lets make another bigger and better with way more features than befor. OMG! every time ive tried to make it and finished making it im like this is crap why did i do this! DELETE try again and same old crap ive just hit a creators block no gd ideas the balancing of it all rubbish DELETE! its happend like 5 times now and work started way back summer last year i just gave up. but now im gonner start again my heads buzzing with ideas it i tell myself "IT WILL BE MADE AND IT WILL BE GOOD" so hopefully it will be gd in the end. | 2010-07-12 20:26:00 Author: artise Posts: 353 |
