How do I take a sticker?

Archive: 14 posts

There is a sticker I want in a community level but it's not from the game, it was made by the level creator. Is there any way for me to add it to my inventory without having to make it myself?2010-07-10 22:50:00

Sometimes people leave custom stickers in prize bubbles, so you can get them. Other than that, no, unless you don't care to steal other peoples work.2010-07-10 22:59:00

I thought you could use the sticker popit tool thing to take the sticker and place it on your sackboy. then you can remove it onto an object in create mode and make copies???2010-07-10 23:33:00

But then THAT would be stealing.

Most authors don't care, anyway... (unless you take something terrific that they made and love and use as your own)

Technically it's not. If you read section 4.2 of the EULA, by publishing any content you pretty much give up all your rights to it.

Your custom title does not lie.

Just send them a message, and ask them for it.

Everybody is just resorting to stealing it lol.

I came up with a way to prevent sticker theft. Once your level is done, cover the whole thing, (or just the stickers that you want to protect) with a layer of thin gas. Even though it's completely invisible, the sticker tool won't go through it and they won't be able to steal the sticker. If the sticker you want to protect is already in the very front thin layer, then you can use the 3d glitch to move the thin gas into the foreground.

Having said that, I don't think I've ever made a sticker that I wanted to protect. Mostly if it's good enough that anybody would want it (which they generally aren't), I'd stick it in a prize bubble. I was working on a Transformers pinball level (which I probably won't work on again until lbp2) with some custom sticker work that I would probably have protected, though.

[edit] Another thing you can do is put an inverted sticker switch on the object with some sort of kill mechanism. I don't think it'll stop them from stealing the sticker (I think the switch doesn't register until the sticker has actually been stuck onto something else) but it would punish them by killing them or something. You could even rig it to emit gas to fill the whole level so they can't continue (that'll get you some low ratings, though).

Stealing is not good, you can do that if your REALLY REALLY want it, but it's just a sticker. Does it matter?

Hey I never once told anyone to steal, look at my prior wording I just said that was possible, also the way everyone is talking about it then taking the R1 sticker would be stealing, no?

As aya said, and listen to him he is clever, the EULA clearly states that it isn't stealing the second it is online, Its play create share not play create steal.

However I do not condone stealing of any form on LBP, other people have took time and effort to make this stuff, if you claim it as your own its not right.
I personally wouldn't be angry if someone took my sticker though, I would be flattered that someone thinks my work is worth stealing. But that is probably just me.

Furthermore I have never stolen anything

(on LBP )
I do not want people thinking i'm that kind of person. I know no one is accusing me of it but I want to make my case clear, the posts are starting to attack me.

So I will finish on the line that I have been saying all day for some reason, I may not be entirely happy with some of the comments however I will risk my life defending your right to say it

I actually use this method to take stickers from the story levels that aren't given to you otherwise - such as the R1 sticker, and the "X marks the spot" sticker - I couldn't get it any other way, and I got all the prize bubbles everywhere, as well as acing and doing all the levels in the tutorials.

I want to make custom stickers to put into prize bubbles but I cant find anything that explains how to do that. I know I can take a picture of something and turn that into a sticker. However, when I go to the options of what I can put into a prize bubble, none of the stickers are available as an optional prize. I'd really like to be able to import original art as stickers and I haven't figured out how to do that either.

I did see a post about how to import my own music. I'm off to read about that as soon as I'm done posting this.
