Outside peripherals?
Archive: 9 posts
Do you guys think it would be possible to use other peripherals while using the controlonator/direct control seat? (which one is the correct name btw? please help me out) For instance, I'm wondering if when you use the rock band drums, does it use the same signal as the 4 buttons on the controller? And does the bass drum use one of the shoulder buttons or something? If so, wouldn't it be possible to map these buttons to different actions? Makes me think of Donkey Konga 2 for the Game Cube. Also, if this is true, you could also use other peripherals such as the guitar, maybe the upcoming keyboard, and other peripherals. I was thinking of keeping this to myself and be the first to do it (if its even possible) but i decided if this IS in fact possible, letting the community brood over it for a while would lead to some absolutely amazing levels. So, if you know if its possible, or any other information/thoughts/ideas about it, please tell!! | 2010-07-09 15:46:00 Author: dr_murk Posts: 239 |
Yeah, I really don't think they will make it compatible with those controllers. I can only see it compatible with the SixAxis/ Dualshock and Move, sorry. Speaking of which... on a semi related topic... Can you make it so you can move in a DCS, so that you can run around as a regular Sackboy with a button mapped to something else... or are you stationary and MUST use a Sackbot? But yeah, I rallly don't think they'd support those. | 2010-07-09 16:46:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
I think you're always stationary. But then again, you can map it to an identical sack-bot and rearrange the controls. I mean, you wouldn't look exactly the same (unless theres a way to spawn a sack bot that is wearing the same stuff that you are). But as seen in some of the videos, you can put sack-boy costumes on sack-bots, and they end up looking like real sack-people!! Back to the original post. I just plugged in my rock band peripheral and booted up LBP just to give it a shot. AND GUESS WHAT!!!! I found that each button on the drums is mapped EXACTLY to one of the usual six-axis buttons!! Heres what I found -green=X -blue=square -red=circle -yellow=triangle -bass=L1 So the answer is YES!!!! You CAN map those five buttons (the shapes and l1) to do different things in a DCS!! This just made the game so much more awesome for me! | 2010-07-09 17:02:00 Author: dr_murk Posts: 239 |

Doesn't work perfectly, but if you manage to say in the level description that it's for Rock Band drums only, and categorize it as such... could really be cool. Wasn't considering that the drums would be assigned to the buttons, I was thinking that MM would have had to actually do something XD Still, sounds cool... although I don't have Rock Band so couldn't play, but I suppose it would work O_o A bit anyway. | 2010-07-09 17:05:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

With the music creation studio and this ability, I'm expecting quite a few rock band/guitar hero clones. Havnt tried out the guitar peripheral to try to figure our the buttons, but i assume they're very similar. My guitar wont sinc right now, so if someone else would mind mapping it out, I'd greatly appreciate it. | 2010-07-09 17:10:00 Author: dr_murk Posts: 239 |
Yes, most extra controllers uses same IO as DS3 since 3rd parties can't make drivers to there controllers but some might be incompatible to each other, but this can be fixed by logic | 2010-07-09 17:49:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
Wow interesting find dr_murk It would be cool to map a DCS to play drum sounds and then freestyle drum with the Rock Band peripheral XD | 2010-07-09 21:55:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |
Well rhythm games needs large accuracy so level will need lot of calibration with pin precision. Thanks to Movers this is lot more possible then then LBP1 if he got DCS | 2010-07-09 22:41:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
