Wasteland Bunker (My best level yet)
Archive: 24 posts
Wasteland BunkerFancy_Zombie Delve deep into the bunker to discover the secrets held beneath. [div=padding-top:10px;]I spent a lot of time on this level and had a little bit of help from OneEyedBanshee. This is definitely my best level yet and I can't wait to show everyone here at LBPC [EDIT 1] I just fixed all issues (hopefully) and republished I also changed a few things about two of the Intels, but nothing major. [EDIT 2] I added a checkpoint right before the robot at the end and made the scoreboard activate by sensor switch, added a magic mouth explaining that the gray parts on the cogs are grabbable, and made the last bit a little brighter. (if you still have problems with brightness pause, go to settings, visual settings and turn the gamma up). [EDIT 3] Cool Pages!!! Awesome!!! Thanks everyone who played/or posted on this thread Features: Great (difficult) varied platforming *warning this level is very difficult at parts* Large machinery reminiscent of the Collector levels An interesting generator gameplay mechanic Roughly 10-15 minutes of gameplay 6 hidden 'gems' called "Intel" that I'd say are pretty darn hard to find An unlockable "Time Trial Mode" Explosive/Corrosive Chug lite A simple puzzle involving explosive Chug lite on a conveyor belt A Chug lite 'waterfall' you just have to see it in-game A spinny thing to play on at the scoreboard Screenies: http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto_1-1.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto-1.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto_2-1.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto_4-1.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto_6.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto_5-1.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto_7.jpg http://i1012.photobucket.com/albums/af249/Fancy_Zombie/Little%20Big%20Planet%20Levels/APhoto_8.jpg Let me know what you think | 2010-07-09 10:22:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |
Ah so I finally got to play it. I really enjoyed it, but then again I would, wouldn't I? Some things I noticed. The snow on top of crates at start isn't glued, that's ok though but then the snow on top of the roof next to it isn't either. I'd glue that down if I were you. The bit where it's says Fancy_Zombie presents etc. The platform raises but if you run to the left you can escape and get stuck then because you can't get up the top any other way. Either invisible barrier it or somehow make it so a sensor switch raises it. But goes back down if you run off it. The intel, every time you find one it tells you what they are etc, the same speech bubble. I'd say pop them all on dissolve and put a sensor switch next to them. Have this emit a mag key at a particular location, the mag key triggers them to dissolve, but at a delay. So each sensor emits a mag key to the same location. Now I dunno how easy that might be over distance. So a funnel system even beneath the level might do it. The arms that swing you, 6th pic. I found the last one could grab you again if you were on the bouncer thing. Solution in my mind is to put a 1 layer sensor on the bouncer that triggers thin gas on a piston to come down from above, blocking you from getting back out. But if you die it retracts making it possible to repeat. Finally, after the pipes that spew paint, you fall down a tunnel. I died at the bottom for some reason and you spawn back before the pipes. I'd advise a checkpoint down the bottom of the tunnel before the robot. Other than that I thought it was well done. I didn't find all the intel, specifically the ones i don't know about lol. Will have to give it another try. But yeah, :star::star::star::star::star: + <3 | 2010-07-09 17:07:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |

I wasn't even aware of that lol I'll glue those when I get on LBP. 2. Darn how did I not take that into consideration?! I'll just make an invisible barrier along with the require all sensor. 3. I did that so you would get the same message no matter which one you found first, but yeah I'm sure it gets annoying and I'll fix it with a combination or/perm switch or something. 4. I was actually aware of that, but couldn't think of a way to fix it Thank you for a solution 5. That's interesting... I never died at that part, but I will definitely put a checkpoint in the tunnel now. lol So... the intel, I told you they'd be hard to find lol. They aren't too hard to find are they? Do the hints help much? Thanks again, also try the Time Trial Mode - having a timer just makes the level that much more fun Yay!!! | 2010-07-09 18:51:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |
For no 3. the way I said would mean if you miss one the second one would still give you the intel message. But once you get one of them it deletes all the other iterations. To be honest I wasn't really looking for intel lol. Some people joined and I got a bit distracted because I passed the close level gate so I just wanted to finish it quickly. The hints were pretty obvious though so I'm sure if i took note I could find them. I will give race mode a go but I have to turn on object collection XD. | 2010-07-09 19:15:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |

That's what I meant doing with the or switch and the perm switch lol Go ahead then, find all of them And yeah, I might make the hints more vague or remove them altogether at that. Great! lol Perhaps I should add to turn on object collection to the speech on the bubble with the time trial sticker... | 2010-07-09 20:46:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |

ok man I just played your level and let me tell you it is wonderful I really enjoy it everything was perfect but I did found some problems with the level but it is only 1 please change all the checkpoint with infinitive life checkpoints I died a lot and I had to restart the level but that is the only problem. Overall score. I'd change the spawn point before the rotating gears to infinite. Its fairly tough, and may turn a lot of people off. | 2010-07-10 04:10:00 Author: dr_murk Posts: 239 |

I might change some of the checkpoints to infinite though, just so people don't have to start over the whole level. Or I'll change them all to infinite and add a prize for acing the level to appeal to those up for the challenge In regards to the scoring, Wow! I am really flattered  Thank you so much for the great score and the heart Arnaldo | 2010-07-10 04:10:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |

I had a lot of fun playing this great great level, just a couple of things, the robot fell over at the very end & killed me, I had to go back a bit to the last checkpoint & when I got back, since the robot had fallen over I had no way of getting to the scoreboard. | 2010-07-10 16:34:00 Author: ApeCheese Posts: 369 |
I think this level has potential to be the next spotlight? You really think so?!!! Oh, that would be sooo awesome | 2010-07-10 21:48:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |

I went ahead and played your level. I could not, however, finish it due to a TV with bad brightness, and your level being very dark. However, the visuals were top notch. The difficulty was....very hard. I died many times. MANY MANY times. I had one point where I died so much I literally said,"Okay, if I die one more time I'm giving up." And that ironically would be the try I made it past that part XD There isn't a lot I can say due to not finishing the level (Stupid TV ) But I can say it was very fun. I enjoyed myself for the time I spent in the level. (Even if I did want to hurl my controller at the TV once XD ) | 2010-07-10 22:17:00 Author: Laharl Posts: 152 |

(Even if I did want to hurl my controller at the TV once XD ) It's a shame you couldn't finish it Thank you for trying though lol yes, it is indeed a very difficult level, if you remember what part exactly did that happen to you? lol at the irony though XD Well that's okay if you can't say a whole lot about it, I'm sorry you weren't able to finish it Thank you very much for enjoying yourself playing my level | 2010-07-10 22:30:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |
The part where I died over and over was where you pull a switch to make the huge cogs move. And you then have to travel on the cogs. Well, the 2 gas traps are so close to each other, that I would jump -just- a bit too much. Which happened often (I was frustrated so I wasnt thinking straight I guess XD) And I kept dying on the cog part, until my idiocy realized: The edges are grab able XD Although, I then had trouble getting to the top >_< *Huuu...* I stopped playing shortly after you are on the conveyor belt, and the conveyor belt is running into a cardboard object. I didn't know where to go from there, since I couldn't see anything. | 2010-07-10 22:36:00 Author: Laharl Posts: 152 |

I didn't know where to go from there, since I couldn't see anything. Oh yeah, that part gets a little difficult... perhaps I will make them just a bit farther apart... And I should probably point out the the edges of the cogs are grabbable too, shouldn't I? At that part: You have to push the button on the right (if you can't see the buttons at all, sorry ) and then it will spawn a Chug lite bottle, then you push the left button to push the chug lite bottle down, then you go over to the right and move the bottle towards the cardboard wall and BOOM! It explodes the wall. Obviously you have to repeat this three times. I hope this helps, but if you can't see anything... maybe I could make it a bit brighter? Thank you for replying so quickly BTW [EDIT] read the OP, I fixed some recent issues and recommended turning the gamma up if it's too dark. | 2010-07-10 22:49:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |
You have a great point about the gamma, and I did. But this TV is still too dark. I have the brightness, color, etc. turned up all the way. Its not your level, I assure you. It's my TV XD I've died in my own level due to darkness, but on my other TV at my other home, I can see just fine. I'll try your level again later, and see if I cant finish it this time. | 2010-07-11 02:10:00 Author: Laharl Posts: 152 |

Fun level. It was definitely a little tough at parts (such as the pipes that spewed toxic...paint lol), and I had trouble getting the Chug bottles to stay upright (so I could carry them over to the other conveyor belt), but beating the level was rewarding. I didn't manage to find any of the secrets. I'll have to play through again and look for them. Not much I can suggest improving upon. Seems like a top notch level. ^o^ :star::star::star::star::star: | 2010-07-11 22:30:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |
