The Lost Planets: Red Zone XTrophx
Crashed in a planet.. and your partner Nebulon is trying to contact the base.
While Nebulon is trying to contact the base you explore the planet where strange creatures live..

Thanks alot to emoguy for all his help with some details and ideas
also thanks to owtlawjack, Gravel, Morgana25, Inanimacy and thanks to everyone who tested this lvl

Oh btw just.. think that the little lag is low gravity

The lvl background haves pretty colors that changes.. but it wont show up on the pictures

http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww92/Joester1991/TLPRZ3.jpg

Enjoy BTW The boss is kinda hard.. you just have to hit the brains on the sides.. so you could HOLD the center (heart of the boss).. hit the brains as fast as you can to have more time to hold the heart... and kill him ... Get ready for a slimy adventure!

***Thanks are unnecessary... Gravel had nothing to do with this level... he only wishes he did!***

Ok, ahem, If you been following Xtroph at all-- then you'll know there has been a steady progression in the evolution of this very talented creator. I had the pleasure of testing this level so I know it fairly well... of course by the time I played it... it was already flawless. So what'll you find? A great alien landscape. His insane Trademark architecture is perfectly at home on this alien world, forcing the player to perform some fun platforming-- up and up and back and forth across the three planes... stimulating visuals, and a simple plot with begining-middle-end... Oh and a really cool boss! Topnotch effort Joey. I was really impressed with how refined your style has become... it was a re3al joy playing this one... 5 stars and hearted.

wow great level, scenery was awesome and the gameplay was fun, only thing i didn't like was the boss, over half the time it wasnt doing anything, killing it was a little tedious and you get spawn killed a lot especially when it starts puking lol

5 stars

The level captures the feel of a lonely planet with your only companion far far away from that planet, very nicely. The atmosphere is fantastic, from the changing (purple) background to the alien landscape. The landscape truly looks out of this world. As for the gameplay.. Well, the last time I played it, it was so laggy it was unpleasant to play - but later you told me in a PSN message that you fixed the lag a lot more, so i'm assuming it's better now. EDIT: Yep, it is better, and the lag is a lot less now
Other than that, it has solid gameplay parts, but for me the level was a bit boring to play. Don't get me wrong, the overall quality was fantastic.. But the level was a bit boring to play for me. In particular I found the boss quite boring, as I didn't have any idea of my progress as to defeating the boss - there was no indication whatsoever (or I didn't notice it), of how far the critter's lifebar had drained.

Graphics: :star::star::star::star::star:
The alien landscape is lonely and out-of-this-world, and the sky amplifies this effect. The small details, such as the creature jumping into the earth as you approach it, really give this level even more atmosphere. Great job! For this, you get five stars!

Gameplay: :star::star::star:
Three stars for gameplay. Solid, but not that original, and in my opinion the gameplay was a bit boring.

Sound: :star::star::star::star::star:
The music and sounds fit the level very nicely. Five stars here!

:star::star::star::star: for you. In return, could you review my latest levels please? These are:
Avalanche! (Survival Challenge) (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=29621-Avalanche!)
Jungle Rumble Pinball (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=29959-Jungle-Rumble-Pinball)

EDIT: Sorry my review was so negative, if a tad insulting. It's just that I like action-packed, fast levels more than slow but beautifully rendered levels. A review is based on opinion and I gave mine. Don't let my review discourage you guys from playing this however! This level is of a very high quality.

Duude! This looks awesome!

I wish LBP was mostly made of levels like this instead of "bomb / shark / train" survival challenges and all that H4H nonsense...

Alright, i've given the level yet another play. Joey has updated this level a lot and the lag is a lot less, which made the level a lot more fun to play for me. While I was in his pod, he fixed the boss so that slime sprouts out of his.. whatever it is... when the monster is being hit. Here are my updated scores for your level:

Visuals: :star::star::star::star::star:
Still as strong as ever, as i said in my previous review! Five stars, definetly.

Gameplay :star::star::star::star::
The level is a lot more fun to play when the lag isn't so immense. From three stars to four stars!

Sound :star::star::star::star::star::
The sound was already good, but in the last updates you added music and other sounds to the boss and other events in your level, which makes it that much better. Five stars!

:star::star::star::star::star: and a <3.

Absolutely love this level Joey, it's awesome. Visually stunning and loved the storyline and the gameplay. The lighting is beautiful and the scenery is just superb! I loved the atmosphere and the stage is so cleverly constructed. The squelchy clingy onny things on the ceiling were making me shudder! lol. Did get stuck on the boss which is typical since I'm actually rubbish at this game and I was on my own so had nobody to hold my hand through it! Will try again when I have reinforcements! It will be a pleasure to play through it again.

I remember when you first started making characters for the Character Competition and they were always brilliant and I so enjoyed seeing them. This level shows how much progress you have made, you are an amazingly talented creator Joey and I feel proud for you! <3

Just had to jump in and say Kudos! (before I go to bed.... ) Really loved this one. Fantastic gameplay, great graphics - and you're right, the lag REALLY works in this level - it seemed like an on-purpose feature!

Nice job! 5 stars and a heart.

This is a really great level, Joey. Definitely your best level yet, which says a lot seeing as Mushroom Mayhem is a favorite of mine. The stickering is brilliant. Everything's very detailed. You managed to capture a kinda deserty feel while maintaining an alien, organic feel. I really like this. Unfortunately, it suffers from Morgana syndrome, where LBP can't handle it and everything's all laggy. I hope LBP2 fixes this, I really do. The boss was really cool and it was one of the first bosses in a long time I felt included things I hadn't seen before. All in all, great level. 5/5 and hearted.2010-07-09 06:02:00

Just played the published version and I have to say I think this is your best work yet Joey.

+ Great use of the new material, really looks excellent under the lights
+ Excellent lights and atmosphere. I especially like the beginning with the purple sky and stars and the intense red lights when you get further into the level. Just lovely.
+ Fun platforming. Nicely varried too. Grabbing those egg thingies is terribly icky but way cool!
+ Love the commuicator that pops up. Nice way to further the story.
+ Boss is so gross! lol but cool.
+ Liked the ending part... I wonder why? lol

So yea, great work and I'm so proud to have seen you grow as a creator and very proud of you that you stuck with this level and knocked it out of the park! 5 stars and hearted as soon as I sign back onto my regular account

First thing I said to me while playing the level was that you never cease to impress me with every new level you publish, I saw this one in its most raw version and now that I look at it all done and polished, I must admit... I loved it
The sound effects are neat, precise and they fit nicely with the level.
The story is simple but still interesting, easy to read and the way you displayed it with radio communication was nice too.
The visuals... man, those were perfect! the reddish feel to the level was great and when I jumped in the water, I felt like it wasn't cool, I HAD TO GET OUT OF THERE!
The boss was hard with one player but as soon as I tried with more it was easy-medium

Overall, a lovely level where we hope a sequel will take place.

This was an amazing level that I just enjoyed so much to play. The colours all looked amazing and everything was just done so perfectly, this level would definatly have to be one of my favourites. You have an amazing talent Joey, well done and an incredible job!! 2010-07-10 00:07:00

- Nice seeing purple plants instead of green ones for once. Not that you left them out haha.
- Skull detail was coolies.
- Would it work to make the R1 box the same colour of the sponge?
- Great atmosphere with all the squishy sounds.
- Nice how you use more than one string for certain pieces.
- Loved that roar/eq effect on the platforms.
- Not sure about those circle sponges on the square tracks that take you up. Perhaps encorporate them into the landscape more? idk is this planet is habitated by intelligent life/settlement. Just looks out of place because everything else seems organic.
- Boss was cool. Took me a while to see the arm weak points haha. Some times a bit hard spawning with lag, as I usually ended up dead. Sometimes the heart only appeared for a short time, is the time that it is exposed dependant on how fast you hit both arms?
- I feel the hero or radio guy needs to have some sort of reaction to the giant alien bug you just killed. Sort of a problem in many video games imo.
- Frickin LAG >=( All the way through. Wow. Kinda ruined it for me sadly.

Great visual level with some gameplay to keep you entertained.
Would be 5 stars, but lag puts it down to 4 and costs you my heart lovin. =(
You lighting people need to learn the hard way! I would love to play a comparative level that's lag free at the cost of lesser lighting.

EDIT: I do have slow net atm. I'll white out my lag comments until I replay it next week.

Yup you have to hit both brains fast to have more time.. to hold the center

Icey, mrv and I played this last night and really enjoyed it and we also finished that insecty boss off, good and proper!

I know Icey and mrv had both not managed to finish off the boss on their own separate play throughs, but obviously, with me helping them, we soon saw him off lol

The gameplay and story are very enjoyable and the scenery and lighting look amazing, I especially liked the moons in the background.

Well done Joey on a great level

Edit : forgot to say, on our first run through the first sponge ball broke off and we had to restart. It's towards the end where a couple of balls hoist you up and then you have to grab and swing across a bit of ceiling, just so you know

I just played the level and here's what I thought.

Positives
------------
1. The boss battle was challenging and unique.
2. The scenery was awesome, from arriving on the colored planet to going in the planet's caverns.
3. I loved using the walky-talky to talk to your partner.
4. A solid amount of gameplay.
5. Awesome sound effects.

Negatives
--------------
1. The only negative was that I got sad because there's not a sequel and there should be.

Overall, this level deserves :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. Great job everyone who worked on this project and I'll try mentioning this level later today or tomorrow.

Definately my "LBP Highlight of the Week" (if I actually have highlights. Naw, too busy playing shark survivals)

The Thing's skin material was lovely. It blended in so nicely to the other wonderfully stickered materials. The boss was a bit too long, though I must admit I was impressed by it's appearance (something about massive bosses with me...)

This definately should be a series. When you see the name you just think immediately that it could be. "The Lost Planets: Moon Zone?"

Hey man I played it again and it was still brilliant XD. I liked you theory that the lag makes it feel more like weak gravity so that made it easier to endure lol. Beautiful scenery and colours. The gameplay is really nice too. The only thing, I was playing there multiplayer and it broke on us. The part where you grab some bolted sponges that raise upwards. I know it's after the roped platforms, maybe straight after, not sure. We fell from above(where you have to grab the ceiling and shimmy across) and well, holding grab was our instinct for that area. We both grabbed the bottom sponge while falling and it snapped off. Not sure if you can fix that without cutting away at the rock behind, unless you can bolt thick to thick and then put a thin in the middle to cover it up. The thing the sponge is bolted to must not be strong enough at the minute. Some thick stone or metal hidden behind a thin would work I think if it is possible. If not try gluing thin gas to thick rock and see if you can bolt sponge to that thin gas and pass through another thin in between the sponge and rock if that makes sense lol

:star::star::star::star::star: + <3

Noticed, I think MrsV suggested the same level breaking spot. Hopefully my suggestion gave you an idea on how to go about fixing it.

Hiya-

I'm glad that I chose to play this, because it's an awesome level! The visuals were fantastic, I loved all of the lighting, alien plantlife, and the low gravity was a very nice touch (). It was also really cool how you manged to use the new Marvel material in the level for the rocky areas, I think this is the first level that I've played yet that uses that material in a good way. The gameplay was a lot of fun, the sponge-circle things on two strings was one of my favorite classic gameplay elements. Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. Great job Joey!

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star:.

I just played this with Chuck. I didn't know he'd already played it! That's why he beat me <_<

Anyway, great level. Loved the visuals, gameplay, and the boss. The blue water lining the bottom of the level was a great touch. No complaints other than getting spawn-killed by the boss a few times. But if I hadn't died, I wouldn't have gotten trapped!

Amazing job!

Incredible looking alien world! Very polished gameplay also and epic boss. Too bad about that anti-gravity problem though, the level would've been so much more enjoyable at full frame rate. 5/5!2010-07-25 23:57:00

Great level Joey, I enjoyed it a lot.
I enjoyed the platforming, the visuals but not the boss.

The boss fight was too long and the it'is a bit cheap and forces the player to a lot of inactivity.
The spit was unavoidable, you can only stay at one side, the claws are a bit too quick, and the heart exposes for a silly second most of the time since the brains respawn too soon.
Then when you respawn from cp, if the monster is puking towards the left and you go to the right of the screen while falling, the sackboy switches layer and falls.
Generally is a good looking cool boss, but I think you (like Luos in his Switch Tribe) over did them, and the risk is to annoy the player.
A boss must be challenging but not cheap.
A hard challenge for 2 minutes is cool, a hard challenge for 10 minutes can become boring.

Anyway, the level as I said is great, and there are some sections that have very cool lighting effects, so 5 stars anyway, even if the boss should have made me rate the level lower.

Great level Joey. The scenery looks fantastic and the gameplay is good too. The boss battle takes way too long but it was an interesting one and that insect for some reason reminded me of "Jet Force Gemini". The background is really cool too. Hey Joey, played this level a couple of weeks ago and completely forgot to leave my feedback, so here it is!

Gameplay
I loved this style of gameplay. It was a platformer, mixed with elements of action and it was fantastic. I love how Joey always manages to bring us back to the simple platformer (for which LBP1 was intended) in the midst of all these new RPGs and shooters etc. The gameplay was 'typical Joey'. And by that I mean it was fun, but both difficult at times and simple all at once.
The obstacles were creative and orginal and very enjoyable. The boss was also challenging and orginal. However the overall experience of the level was, yes, hindered by a little lag. :/

Visuals
I love your style. It is colourful and cartoony, but still has a sense of realism (despite the theme of the level ). I really liked how you created the different plants and creatures that inhabit the planet, they all looked very alien, but still reatined their 'Joey style'

Rating
I really enjoyed this level, and it's only fault were the lag problems, which you can't do much about. Therefore I gave the level :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3
