sly cooper anyone??

Archive: 42 posts

Am i the only one who remembers Sly Cooper. Those games (especially 2 & 3) were great. I loved playing them, they had great characters storylines and dialouge. And the entire game being cell shaded was really cool, (felt like a comic book)

Now i have heard some rumors that a sly 4 was in production. Does anyone know if this is true??? Or am i the only one who cares?

it's probably just a rumour because the sly developers are making a game called Infamous. Infamous looks brilliant.2008-10-12 12:17:00

Same for me, it was with Ratchet and Clank 3 I think.

I liked it, but never bought a game.

Cooper xD

I didn't like the games at all, I think another one would destroy the PS3's good reputation xD That's just what I think though.

sorry about the spelling. that was just a mistake..oops. now i look stoopid.

I know that sucker punch is developing infamous (which does look fantastic) but i still think (and hope) that they will develop a new one.

and i do not believe that this would ruin PS3's good name. This title was a great franchise for the Playstation brand and a new one could only add to the PS3's awesome lineup of games.

Yeah, but games like Sly Cooper come off as childish, and the PS3's kind of settled in to a more mature gameset these days..2008-10-12 15:51:00

i know what you mean by that, but it really isn't a very childish game.

Besides, look at LBP, many would say that it is a little game for kids that is not fun at all. But if you take the time to play it, you find out it is a very good game (although LBP is WAY better )

1. You spelt stupid wrong.
2. Your post after this one makes absolutely no sense.

Anyway, DrunkMiffy: what? I thought the Sly Cooper series was great and a heck of a lot of fun. The comic book style, the stealth, the codec inspired contact... It was amazing.

Never got to Sly Cooper, probably because it's always lingering in the shadow of Jak & Daxter, which is always lingering in the shadow of Ratchet & Clank!!!

In short, Sly Cooper would've been better if it stuck with the frontman & awesome, tiny sidekick theme.

First off, i meant to misspell stupid creative. It was sort of ironic.
And what doesn't make sense? I have heard many people say that LBP looks childish. But once you play it, you find out that it is anything but childish. I think that is similar to the way some people view sly.

And sly really is fun, but it was always behind ratchet & clank. I think it is a better series than the Jak & Daxters. Thats just me.

I think That The Sly series is Better than R&C series and Jack and Dexter series (But Of all The Series, the Best Game was Jak 1), Sly 2 is the best Sly.

Also, Bentley FTW!

Wtf! I swear I thought about this game yesterday on my way to Starbucks lol.. I was because I was looking at God of War trailers and I stumbled upon Prince of Persia and the new one coming out has ' cell shading ' :O

But I never really played it, I just remember the Sly Cooper commercials where ever scene is like a comic when it goes to translations.. pretty cool but It looked like a cheap Bandit Tycoon.. or whatever that green fox guy or w/e's game was called..

How did you spell stupid wrong and Sly Cooper is a good series, not the best but good. One time I stayed up till like four in the morning at my cousins house playing it with him. It was stoopid because the next day, we were all tired2008-10-14 04:28:00

@creative. im not sure how to say it, many people judge LBP harshly for its' childish looking grapichs, the use of little sack puppets give many people false ideas about the complexity of the game. I think this is what some people may do when it comes to the Sly series, judging it just on how it looks from the outside....I really dont know how else to put it.

Im also glad that some people have heard rumors or are at least hoping for another one....and besides, there was a lot more to be continued at the end of 3. So i am optimistic when it comes to the future of the sly franchise.

Some info from wiki

Future titles

Sly Cooper 4 (working title) was announced on May 24, 2007 for a speculative 2008 or 2009 release for the PlayStation 3[1]. The game would have been premiered at E3 2007, and would feature connectivity with the Sly Cooper PSP game for the PlayStation Portable, which will be simultaneously released with the PlayStation 3 version. However, on June 5, 2007, IGN and other sources posted that there has yet to be any confirmation that work on these games exists, and thus this speculation may be incorrect.[2]

Instead, it was announced at E3 2007 that Sucker Punch was working on a PlayStation 3 title called inFamous, a sandbox game based on a futuristic world with more photorealistic graphics. Brian Fleming of Sucker Punch Productions stated in an interview that "We're broadening ourselves a little bit, taking on some new challenges," but also noted that "I think it's extremely likely that you'll see us return to the 'Sly Cooper' franchise at some point in the future."[3]

So if thats accurate they could go back to sly.

That is very very good to hear. I really hope that they do make a new sly. Although i gotta say, infamous looks very cool. I really want to try it out.

But i am glad to hear that they have not forgotten the Sly franchise.

Sorry to get off topic, but I don't think there needs to be another thread for this as Rabid-Coot can answer almost anything in one post, but can anyone give me any information about Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier?2008-10-15 01:30:00

well wikipedia says
Initially, Naughty Dog hadn't specified any future games in the series, with only hints and comments providing clues to their decision. Co-President Evan Wells stated that the new technology in their Uncharted: Drake's Fortune engine may be used for a new Jak and Daxter trilogy, as well as saying that "there is a lot of interest around the office in going back to that franchise (Jak and Daxter) and seeing what we could do with it using the Uncharted engine." Later, more concrete details were leaked when a name for an, apparently, future Jak and Daxter game was registered in the U.S. Patent Office called Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, and much later several prototype game cinematics were also leaked onto the Internet featuring old and new game characters in unfamiliar situations (Jak has short-cut hair and, along with Daxter, is interacting with new allies and battling new foes), and Naughty Dog refused to comment on both.[1] Naughty Dog did not show up at the E3 2008 convention or TGS 2008, leaving many uncertain of what they were doing. But in a recent IGN interview with Naughty Dog's Richard Lemarchand, he explains that "You won't have to wait too long for [the big revelation]." and that "We are working hard on something, and we haven't just been resting on our laurels."

I only hope that that info is true. Although i think the Jak series is the worst of the three (R&C, Sly and J&D) it is still a great game and i would love a new one. especially if it uses the uncharted engine.

I've played all three, didn't really care for the first but I loved the second and third. I'd have to say that Ratchet and Clank is better though. I never much cared for Jak and Daxter.2008-10-15 02:32:00

No, you're completely missing my point. Your statement was partially correct, your wording wasn't. You're basically saying: "LBP is way better than LBP". Unless it's just bad wording, which it probably is. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. I'm just in that sort of mood >_>

In other news, inFamous is looking awesome! Kthxbai.

Its more uncharted next.

Sequel

Shortly after the release of the game, Naughty Dog's co-president, Evan Wells, stated that Uncharted had been developed as a franchise, and so a sequel was likely.[41] It was later confirmed that the development team had put their work on the next installment of Jak and Daxter on-hold to work on Uncharted 2 for release in 2009

And that is good to hear, one that they will make a new uncharted, and two that they do plan to make a 4th Jak & Daxter.
