LBPC Trading Cards

After seeing some joking around about getting some LBPC trading cards made, I figured it might be fun to go ahead and make a set.

Here's the one I threw together for the LBPCTG thread.

I used a template from the Pokemon tcg because... I had it.

Wow, the card looks amazing! I love the peanut reference.

This is a great idea. If you have the time, you should definitely do cards for other famous LBPC members like Morgana, the Mods, jww, xkappax, Teebonesy, the list goes on... (oops, I'm going to get into trouble here for missing people out!). I guess it's easiest to do them for people who have some obvious personality trait or image to pick up on. You could always ask for ideas for what do with a particular person,though, if you get stuck

I'd love to work on this to make cards for the well known members!

Each one could have a special attack!

Okay, I added the attack! Anybody wanting someone else to make their card needs to get opinions on what their scores should be. The attack can / should be chosen by the person him/herself!

How about we can buy these cards with EXP in the shop? Once you buy them they show up on your profile, people can view these cards and trade them with each other.

There would be different types of packs you can buy to get hold of these.

You can just buy them individually, and the rarer the more they cost.

Or you can buy a random pack, this would select 5 cards at random and give them to you, although since the price is always the same, you can lose out on EXP or gain EXP, or you could get one you already have.

Then there's trading of course. So anyone like this idea? If someone makes the cards first, then we can speak to CC about adding them to the store...

Obviously love the idea as I've told you before, but I heard something in the thread about randomized "mystery box" items (someone there was trying to get the same thing for his forum) and, while not possible right now (I think), they did say it was on the to do list. Though since the shop is now being done by someone else... :/

How about the attacks are on a different kind of cards. And everytime you use those cards, you use up some of a certain category? If you want to make a game out of it.

Cool stuff that everyone is coming up with. Here's the one I made for anyone who couldn't see it before.

Finally have the picture uploaded somewhere else. I've got templates for just about every card color from the pokemon set. The good thing about these templates is that you can just copy/paste them over whatever image you've got and BAM... you've got a card.

I think it would be super cool to turn this into a game. As for how it'd be determined who gets what cards... The shop system could be cool if we could get that kind of permission from the powers that be. Another option would be to randomly give everyone so many cards and have one person keep track of who has what.

Idea if we want to turn this into a game and everyone's willing to rock with a modified pokemon card rule format....

Make a set of about 50 cards or so. Let's have 25-ish be forum members. Since forum members don't evolve (i think), let's have the next bunch of cards be costumes. We can use some of the cooler pre-made costumes and fill in the rest w/ whatever we want. The costumes would have their own attacks, and add a health boost to whoever uses them.

Items... will be items. Sponge, dark matter, paintinator... whatever, and we can come up with the specifics as we move forward.

Finally, instead of stadium cards, let's have level cards. Once used, these cards affect how the game is played. Some may offer stat boosts to both players, others may enhance certain strategies. We can pick a few of the all-time classic levels for these like Azure palace.

I'm going to make a few more examples when I get home to see what everyone thinks. If anyone wants, I can post the templates online as well.		2010-07-08 19:26:00

I think this idea is really great... there never was much to buy in the store but I still really mis exp. As a collector of so many things in this life I would really support an idea like this... I'm definitely more old school though- stats/facts/amusing quotes- stale stick of gum/ sticker/checklist... You can keep the game aspect for my two cents. Just a random pack of LBPC Creator cards please! Incidentally, I also think, the fame or infamy , of a given creator should not effect 'rareness. of a card. any member who wants in should be allowed in. That would determine the # of the set. One of each creator per set. You could always display them in your profile album.

Of course the game might be good to... but everything is so subjective, and rating creativity and intelligence? No thanks.<3 But I do like the idea... "Hey I got two Midnight Heists and triples of Warlord Evil... anyone wanna trade for a Gravel?"		2010-07-10 05:39:00

Well I'd love to help! Though I'm really a LBPC noob XD
I don't know where this is heading actually, as Dayne started a thread turning this into a game like Trump Card or something... dunno. And in this thread it's heading towards the Pok?mon-ish battle system, wich I would prefer. Anyways, I believe a LOT of members of LBPC are pok?mon fans in some way, may it be the TCG, the NDS games or the tv-series.

Well, right now I'm waiting for mr radical, he's the expert guy and I'm the... other... guy... and yeah.

We were talking about starting off with 50 or so cards. 25 of them would be users (aka Pokemon), and the rest would be a mix of levels (aka Stages) and items (... aka items).

We would probably add more users in as we go.

And also, since we wouldn't have it programmed anywhere, we would have a database of who is playing and who has what card. Some people- right now looking to be radical and me, possibly more- would oversee all this info, and negotiate battles between players. There would also be various challenges and stuff for getting other cards. Ya.

Aargghhhhh, I was typing a huge post, but I pressed some key and now I have to re-write it.

I think that collecting would be better then batteling, unless there is a good automatic system we can use.

ever heard of a program called MSE?
I have some experience with it, i could make a template and make card creation a whole lot easier for the lot of you.
complete with sorting and other nifty options...
but my computer is dead

its meant for making sets for Magic: The Gathering.
Of which i'm working on my second custom block...
or was

you can also make cards for custom games, but that takes some major notebook editing.

Well, I think that playing a game with them is a great idea, so last night I started writing up the rules. Each ability has value, and each status (kindness, intelligence, general talent, creativity) has its uses.

BTW, is Mod5.0 a moderator? Or is that just his/her username?

Edit: Attacks are epic. Right now I'm working on the hardest card to get= ConfusedCartman. 200/100 in all stats, And the ability to destroy any card, but only usable once. I'll post the rulebook on Google Documents when I'm done, and provide a link. 		2010-07-22 16:56:00

Well, OKi, It'll take a bit. Probably a month for the actual game, a two or three weeks to get the online stuff, along with a point/achievement system, and finally another two weeks or so to get it all onto a program that plays it, on a website, and then there's copyright stuff, with MM. If they say we can't use their characters, and I publish it, we're toast. If they say no, I could probably open an online petition, and have people say why they want it up. Then link them and its all cool.

Expect it in maybe two and a half months.
