Jungle Rumble Pinball

Jungle Rumble Pinball is a pinball level with a jungle theme. You have 7 lives, and the longer you stay alive, the higher your score will get. You can hit the bumpers and special paths to get even more points. Try to get the highest score

Dangit - I turn off my PS3 for the day, then see a level like this in the showcase *goes to fire up PS3*

Back in 2 secs with feedback.

EDIT: OK, just played your pinball level. It was much better than many pinball levels I played before, not least because you had a theme, and the noises you used to signal point bonuses were very cool. The life meter was also good - I like how the final life flashes when you've lost the rest. Having seven lives was a nice change - usually pinball games are too short with 3 balls.

Just a couple of improvements - first, try putting the flippers closer together. There were a couple of points where I had no chance to save the ball from dropping out of play, which I thought was a bit unfair. Also, the ball broke a couple of times, losing me a life.

I still rated :star::star::star::star::star: however, one of the better pinball levels I've played. Nice job!

PS: If you want more feedback, try opting in for F4F - there are plenty of threads around to explain how it works.

Thanks for your feedback, and i'll bring the paddles closer together. It was supposed to be challenging, but not unfair. And for the ball breaking.. I think it's the speed of the flippers that causes it. But setting it any slower makes the gameplay quite boring. They were made of a metal material before, but that made the ball break even more - and I tried making it cardboard but the ball was too heavy for that. I could make the ball cardboard as well, but that would make the ball very vulnerable.. It used to be even worse, if your ball broke, then the game stopped as the game didn't detect that your ball was gone - i fixed that however 2010-07-08 21:40:00

Make the ball our of sponge maybe? Sponge is good at not breaking on impact (unless crushed)2010-07-08 22:03:00

Try having two different detections - one for when the ball disappears randomly inside the game area (breaking) and one for when the ball drops out of play between the flippers. Breaking could be detected by a directional magnetic switch set to cover the whole table above the flippers, while life lost could be detected by a magnetic switch beneath the flippers. The break mag switch could be attached to a second emitter that produces exactly the same ball, but this one would appear without losing a life.

However, make sure you use an AND gate on the broken-ball-respawn trigger, else you'll get a free ball every time the ball goes out of play. The AND gate should be linked to the broken-ball mag switch and to the out-of-play mag switch. If you want a hand sorting this out, add me on PSN and I'll come and help you out.

Hope this helps!

PS: An alternative method is to use a fairy light as your ball. As far as I know, they don't break as easily as other materials.

I've made the gap in the middle smaller and changed the ball to sponge. I hope it fixes all these issues

EDIT: If this doesn't fix the ball-breaking issue, i'll try your two-way detection set-up, sounds good

The pinball machine looks very jungle like I like the way you put that together along with the sound effects of other animals
that was pretty neat...

Positives:
- Level was fun
- Animal sounds

Sugguestions:
- I think you can go even more beyond what you did with it there.. What you did was awesome but I think it needs more excitement
to it that makes you wanna keep playing it not saying it was boring but the only excitement was pretty much the sounds.

Overall Good Job: :star::star::star::star:

Thanks Sabre_. Yes, I agree, the pinball level has a bit too little activities to do - I'll extend the gameplay when I find the time 2010-07-18 07:25:00
