Getting first PSP + LBP few questions:

Archive: 27 posts

Heya, im getting a PSP tommorow!!! Getting three games, LBP, GT PSP, and Modnation very excited but im a bit of a newb when it comes to PSP tech and LBP in comparison to the PS3 (don't own one but i've played and grown to love LBP on the PS3, hint my buying a PSP xD.

Ok confusing stuff done.

What kind of memory cards do the PSP's take? Will a sandisk SDHC 4gb card fit/work?
Does LBP PSP have fog effects?
Is it possible to recreate a PSP version of crazy train and dead space from LBP PS3 in the PSP version?
Do I actually NEED to buy a seperate memory card, as i've heard the PSP has 64mb space right off anyway.
What about lighting effects does PSP have globals like this? If not would it still be possible to make levels appear "dark"...
Is the music good? (Loved My Patch from PS3 version, and Battle Atlas.)

Thanks for reading and answering!

Well, you should probably buy a memory stick if your getting the 3000. Cause you can't do much with only 64 MB.2010-07-06 22:40:00

ok ill tell you about lbp psp there is no fog or lighting global effects BUT it might add a global effect later with the next update you never know, the last update they added the Micro bomb and the magic eye this game is awsome because you can take it anywhere you want so if you were always on the go and dont want to unplug a ps3 every time and plug it in again where ever your going you can just bring your charger and psp instead and alot of people prefer to create on the psp version rather than the ps3.2010-07-06 23:01:00

Ahhh cool thanks, well untill I get a PS3 this will be the only LBP I play, but i've heard apart from a few obvious difficulties it can do almost everything the PS3 can do!
What "types" of memory card are excepted please?

Thanks.

Heh no problem. Is it possible to make dark (i.e pitch black) and atmospheric levels, to give the impression of it being "scary"... Also I don't know if you've played crazy train on the PS3 (youtube lbp crazy train if you like), but is it possible to make that kind of level in the PSP version?

Thanks again.

Hey timecatcher! Glad to hear you'll be part of our little world soon. Now, to answer your questions:

What kind of memory cards do the PSP's take? Will a sandisk SDHC 4gb card fit/work?The PSP Go uses a Micro M2 card, while all other models use Memory Stick Pro Duo cards.

Does LBP PSP have fog effects?Nope.

Is it possible to recreate a PSP version of crazy train and dead space from LBP PS3 in the PSP version? You can do anything you want with a little patience and some imagination.

Do I actually NEED to buy a seperate memory card, as i've heard the PSP has 64mb space right off anyway.Yes, you absolutely need a MINIMUM of 2gb memory, but more is better. Just buy the biggest memory card you can afford and you won't regret it.

What about lighting effects does PSP have globals like this? If not would it still be possible to make levels appear "dark"...No lighting effects, but there are alternatives such as gas (that you can make any color you want) and stickered clear glass.

Is the music good? (Loved My Patch from PS3 version, and Battle Atlas.)The music is epic. Much better than the PS3's music in my opinion.

youll need a memory stick pro duo
no fog effects
im not sure, i havent played lbp ps3
i reccommend u buy a mem stick. though pspgo! comes with alot of internal memory i think
no lighting effects, though u can make it dark by using the back thin layer
music has variety and i like it

You MUST buy a memory stick, because the PSP hasn't got any memory or hard drive by itself. Unfortunately, hat 64mb space you mentioned doesn't exist (and even if it existed, it wouldn't be much useful, you'd fill it up in no time).

The PSP Go model has internal memory of 16gb, but this model is for digital games only, it doesn't support UMDs (and it's way more expensive than a standard PSP).

Ahh cool! Thanks guys, can't wait to get it now!

Im hoping I will enjoy the levels, as youtube doesn't "seem" to have many of the LBP PSP levels in comparison to the PS3 version on it. Some of the levels i've seen look very good though.

Also in the PS3 version you can get prize bubbles (ones that give you stickers/stuff for doing things in a level)...do these or an alternative exist in the PSP version?

Thanks .

Yes there are plenty of prize bubbles hidden in the story mode and community levels. You don't necessarily have to complete the level to get the prizes. But, you still get extra prizes for completing the level, acing the level, and getting all the prizes in the level.

Acing a level means that you must complete the level without dieing, if you didn't know that already

Oh cool! Thanks! Whoot just went to Argos and i've now got the PSP and its loading updates, its so "sleek" as a console, and looks very modern. How cool! Sorry about my excitement.

Oh yah and I got Modnation, and LBP two games with creative aspects and both awesome (LBP better ofc heh).

When the updates have loaded I will play around with LBP for a bit before, trying to get online and unlocking the rest of the world .

OMG I CAN'T WAIT! (If your wandering why im on these forums and not actually playing, its because the update needs to work first, and for it to work the console needs to charge a little.

Oh one last thing, I went ahead and bought a 4GB memory stick, im hoping it should be enough as I have an ipod for music, and can use youtube etc (I read that flash works with the console).

Yey!

Ok bai!

Ooops one last question can you add friends and favorites etc?

Ok thanks.

! TC.

The flash reader on the PSP isn't very "strong."

Oh, and you can only add friends via PS3 and they will show up on the "Friends" section only if they play LBP PSP.

As for favorites - you can add levels to your hearted list, which acts as your faves. You could also heart other creators, so they will show up on your "Hearted Creators" list. Then you could simply view and add their levels there.

This might be a lot to take in, but once you play....it will make sense creepy huh?

Of course: stickers, materials, backgrounds and music from the PS3 version are available for the PSP, making it the most complete.2010-07-08 13:09:00

If I use these objects in levels will it not show up for others? Also do you mean I can get Jim Noir My patch?2010-07-08 14:40:00

Yes, even if others do not have content in those DLC packs, they are able to see it. If the level is copyable and contains DLC that people don't have, they won't be able to edit it. Trust me, it'll all come clear in a few days. Just get use to it.2010-07-09 06:18:00

Sadly no. They may include in it a future pack, but I'm still not sure. It's a catchy tune though

If you haven't found the answer yet all you need to do is instead of pressing X to start the game, press triangle, and in that sub-menu choose update. Then simply just accept the prompts.

You will also need the latest PSP firmware too, That can be updated in the Settings menu of the XMB, it'll be the top option

Alright thanks both. Ima go play around with it a bit more now. Having a lot of fun.

Do you know if update 2.5 is the last one since LBP2 has been announced on PS3..., or will there be a 2.6 with new features (hopefully lighting xD).

There will most likely be a lot more after 2.5, but for now we have no idea when the next update is or what will be in it.
