Movie dedicated levels

Archive: 18 posts

Looking on E3 presentation you can see levels with clapboard instead of standard zap patches

Look like movie/cut-scene dedicated levels I think LBP2 will be heaven for Machinema.com people, it will have features that Halo, WoW and GaryMod movie makers can only dream about.

Now if they just add video recording and YouTube uploading features.... plz ;]

Hustle Kings also has a video recording and YouTube uploading feature. LBP could really benefit greatly from a feature like this. And by the way, don't you mean MACHINIMA.com?2010-07-04 17:23:00

Yea fixed

Well since 3.40 developers just need to allow video saving, then you could use newest video editing tools in PS3 to finish touches and upload your video

Yeah, I really hope Media Molecule thinks about this. I really would love a video saving feature.

Actually, LBP2 will still have a pretty bad Machinima system compared to most games. I mean both Garrys Mod and Halo 3 were both in full 3D, and Halo 3 had a built in theater mode, and garrysmod had an easy to place camera, along with the millions of other tools that could help you machinimate.

But nonetheless, I am still going to make machinimas with it. I already have 2 in mind.

Non of those gamaes allow you to place voice acting on the fly, you don't need any actors (only voice actors) or skills of placeing dead bodies in the air (garry mod ), you don't need hacks (Halo gun pointing of player models), you got set of post-processing effects and you can create scene sequences (something that makes Halo's theater mode useless), you can fully build your own stenography and if you can record you don't need recording hardware (maybe for HD), and we still don't know 100% of feature list, still this makes LBP2 great machinima creation tool and most likely easiest to work with. Yea LBP is half-2D, but this not restrict that much to make great scenes.

See how some pro level makes make scenes they are perfext for movies, watch Johny cut-scene for level to release sackbots (don't remember the name) and all of that you can do mostly just on creator mode without need much involving of PC, i didn't seen game that allows to such many things for machinima just in console

I think you are not realize yet how powerful LBP2 cut-scene creation will be

I heard they were going to. They also said in the podcast last year that they'd have to add that!

@Shadowriver Well I don't really know any machinimas that are made ENTIRELY in the game itself. Also, placing and programming sackbots probably takes the same amount of time as it takes to pose a ragdoll. You don't need hacks in garrysmod, as it has enough tools already. (Also, Halo 3 uses GLITCHES, not hacks)

Now, about this scene sequence thing, you're talking as if you can only make the machinima inside the game, when most well-made machinimas are made using the game, and then editing software to tie together scenes, and add in voice acting. To make a machinima, you will almost always need recording software, and if a youtube upload thing was added to the game, it would probably be low quality.

I'm not saying that LBP2 can't be a good machinima tool, I'm just saying it probably won't be the best OR easiest to use. The game has tools for making good cutscenes, Garrysmod has tools for easily making machinimas, and Halo 3 has a theater mode to share awesome clips easily with friends.

Sackboy and sackbots have a pretty limited move set, made worse by having to use the PS controller to puppeteer them. I'm kind of hoping they have some kind of animation tool.

One really nice thing is that sackboy automatically lip syncs, well, at least it tries to, so that takes care of one headache.

I'm hoping that you can take the video and place it in a level as a cutscene. It seems you can fake a cutscene with the camera, but it doesn't look like you can actually take a video and make it play, so to speak. Maybe I'm wrong 2010-07-07 06:14:00

There is a cutscene camera tool. Which is made for making cutscenes.

...so make cutscenes with that. It's not "faking".

Well, I think its a called a cutscene camera because it can do things needed in cutscenes, (transitions, angles, etc) but I think its faking in the sense that its not recorded and played, its a live feed of what is happening somewhere else in the level. I hope you can record things, but I doubt it.2010-07-07 09:53:00

In Halo you can only jump, walk, ride and shoot, still it's mechnima-fested
