If there's one thing that has the power to briefly tear me away from my beloved LBP, it's the world of Patapon. I've played both parts 1 and 2 endlessly, and simply talking about it here makes me want to fire up Patapon 2 again and spend the afternoon PON PON PATA PON-ing. When I saw on the Playstation Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/07/02/coming-to-psn-patapon-3-multiplayer-demo-for-psp/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PSBlog+%28PlayStation.Blog%29 ) that the Patapon 3 demo would be on the PSN Store this week, I was uber excited. The really awesome news though is that the full game will feature online multiplayer. *head asplode* So, who else is getting this game? I would be a ton of fun to hook up online and whup some monster behind co-op style. Awesome, we definitely need to meet up online sometime then. It's funny, I didn't even like the original game when it came out. I bought it used for $5 on a whim some time later and ended up playing it to basically the max - no more levelling up to be done. I absolutely LOVE Patapon 2 and the whole hero thing, and the evolution system and rares hunting is a total blast. Trying to play online via Xlink Kai was a real pain though and I eventually gave up. Part 3 looks like it might be the best of them all!

I'm definitely getting this! I actually have the Japanese demo on my PSP right now, and let me tell you that the multiplayer experience is amazing! The heroes also look phenomenal, and their hero modes look better than ever. Another interesting thing I saw was that for some levels, you move going to the left rather than the right, which is disorienting at first, but it's actually pretty cool. Gives me a perfectly good excuse to fire up 2 and finish making one of each legendary patapon for each class (forgot the names of them but the look like an angel, demon and dragon) and to stock op on everything. The only thing I am a tad worried about is what items you get from the multiplayer. In 2 if you got a perfect on the beat after the boss you would get a demon drop (Lv 5 material needed to make angel, demon and dragon troops) miss a beat and you get a common item. Now I'm sure you vets know that the Lv5 drops are super rare to get and the bosses grow stronger on each defeat. So i always reset when I don't get the item i'm looking for (single and multiplayer) so the bosses don't get too strong. I don't want to cause dcs to the other player just because I didn't get what I wanted....

I have played a patapon demo, but I'm not getting any one of them. I will end up getting MNR after I get an iPod touch. I understand this isn't thread related but so is the thread to LBP. Who has MNR or will get it? I NEED to know.

I didn't like the first Patapon that much. It was too sensitive to rhythm, too frustrating. But Patapon 2 blew me away, I was addicted for a whole month. One of the best games on the PSP. I can't waint for Patapon 3 either.

Awesome! I loved patapon 1and 2, especially the unique gameplay and the design of the whole game. Those screenshots look epic! I was addicted to patapon for ages, but not as much for patapon 2 as I felt they changed the style too much in a bad way. We should have a thread here to see who's online so everyone from lbp can see how good we are on patapon. Any news on the official release date?

Are UMDs region specific? If not I'm mailing you my old Patapon 1 disc. Seriously. Fortunately for Coxy, I believe they are region free. Get some Pata in your life! Aside from that, having played both Pata 1 + 2 religiously, I can't wait for Patapon 3. Online multiplayer would be a great addition, so I'm super excited for the demo. Now if only they would realise the potential of a Patapons vs. LocoRoco game... I'll expect it in the mail in 2-3 working days

If my avatar on these forums wasn't enough of a clue, I am a HUGE Patapon fan. Have played the first two games to death and am super-psyched for Patapon 3! Multiplayer is great but I really hope the single player mode is as long and fleshed-out as it was in Patapon 2.

Yesss.! Patapon is one of my favorite series ever. I managed to complete one and nearly completed 2 but then I lost my savedata. but since three is coming out I will need to restart I think. @ leonard I found it funny that you found the first game more rythmically challenging because I'm pretty sure they made it so that you had to be more precise in the second game. At least that's what ign.com and I noticed.

Just played the demo, completely blew my mind. So I'm guessing they scrapped the idea of Rarepon? Because it required a horrible amount of grinding to get good Rarepon.

I absolutely loved Patapon 2, and I'm still playing it from time to time...I'm hoping Sony drops the price down on the first Patapon just so I could buy it and play the heck out of it as well. I'm sorry guys but this demo is just not worth it, I think its just awful. The idea of multiplayer may sound great but with poor servers, no saving (since theres quite a bit of grinding its frustrating losing everything when your game freezes or you complete the demo causing it to restart), random joining and a hard to understand in-game description of how to summon (which is a MUST because thats the only way to revive allies, you rarely find someone who knows how to summon) It just becomes awful, and I've been a patapon fan since the start

The demo is fairly vague as far as instructions go, but then again most demos are. I remember having a really terrible time with the MHFU demo but totally enjoyed the full game. Clarity issues aside, I'm really impressed! I'd like to see what the single player campaign is like as well, and how the evolution/rarepon creation process works. This multiplayer demo as far as I can tell takes the place of the special portal in Patapon 2 where you could hunt for eggs. In that regard it is extremely well developed. Anyway, this game is quite clearly a day one buy for me. I'll continue to grind for rares in the demo I think because I don't want to import my Patapon 2 data - makes the game too easy and/or short I found.

I thought the demo was pretty impressive. Although I suck at summoning, so reviving is tough, but that's why there's 4 of you. I definitely think that servers are a must. And also a mic. chat, but they probably couldn't incorporate that in the demo, or is something wrong with mine? I'm with Taffey, day one buy for me. Anyways, this is just the demo, there's always room for improvement.

I really don't understand the summoning part at all. I hit don don-don don-don and start mashing buttons, and it works.

I had to leave for LA on the day the demo came out so the closest i can get to playing the demo is reading other peoples impressions lol. those of you who are complaining about the demo shouldnt give up on the game just because the demo is horrible. They always say that it is not a representative of the final product and im sure thats the case with the demo.

I own one and two. MY COMIBINED SAVEDATA OF BOTH IS 200 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY. I absolutely loved number one. Number two was a little easy for me (especially when I spammed hero tatepon's invincibility perk ) but I never got to try the multiplayer. Patapon three is looking awesome. I love the multiplayer but I wish I could have my own custom sentences like SUMMON ALREADY!!!!! I've never beat the demo (or tried versus ) yet because every game I play I'm the only one who revives . It's also the reason I always play Tatepon and Spam Chaka Chaka Pata Pon every game. So if I ever decide to play again my hero name is Goty (name for one and two so I decided to just stick with it)

Then you need to set your hero to be the shield version (so you can be invincible in fever mode). Then you just fight for what seems like forever until you kill it. Hope that helps!
