Help on creating a new object?
Archive: 14 posts
I need help creating one of those spinning wheels. You see them sometimes in some story mode levels. Those wheels where they keep spinning and you have to grab onto them and jump onto other wheels. They could be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96PQrYFtLes&feature=related at the times 0:59 1:26 and so on. So can someone help me build it? Please and Thank You. | 2010-07-03 18:19:00 Author: Unknown User |
All you do is create a sponge circle and attach a motor bolt to it. | 2010-07-03 18:47:00 Author: koltonaugust Posts: 1382 |
There is a tutorial for it under motor bolts when you're doing the create mode tutorials | 2010-07-03 19:00:00 Author: Weretigr Posts: 2105 |
There is a tutorial for it under motor bolts when you're doing the create mode tutorials It's always best just to do all of these tutorials before creating | 2010-07-03 19:18:00 Author: koltonaugust Posts: 1382 |
I did all the tutorials already. I attached a motor bolt to the center and it doesn't move. I added dark matter to it so it can float but it doesn't move It doesn't even move when I grab onto it. | 2010-07-03 20:42:00 Author: Unknown User |
you added dark matter to what exactly? because if you attached it to the sponge it won't move at all | 2010-07-03 20:44:00 Author: flamingemu Posts: 1872 |

Based off what you said, I assume you attached the DM directly to the sponge. First of all, if you glue anything to DM, it will not move at all. Second, in order to spin, the motor bolt must be attached to an object that is in front of another object. What you need to do is make a square of DM on the thin layer, then place the sponge ball in front of the DM and add the bolt to the center of the sponge so that is in front of both the sponge and the DM. If you did this correctly, it should slowly rotate. | 2010-07-03 21:03:00 Author: Starchy Posts: 353 |

Yeah can you just say that slower? Err...can't you read it slower? Anyways, just make a small thin piece of Dark Matter. Then place your thick circle of sponge in front of that Dark Matter. Then place the motor bolt so that it is over your sponge AND the Dark Matter. Done! | 2010-07-04 00:55:00 Author: RJA00000 Posts: 387 |
You're not glueing the object to the DM behind it are you? I've seen that happen quite a few times. | 2010-07-04 03:41:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
Another thing I found is when you are playing around with bolts and unglued objects, sometimes they fall to the floor when you un-pause after placing them. Do not be put off by this, just listen for the nematic rattle gun noise (the one that sounds like changing tyres at a mechanic) Set the speed/direction of the bolt and your done. If you want you can tie a grab switch from the wheel to it's motor to turn it on/off. | 2010-07-05 09:59:00 Author: Strangepom Posts: 445 |

Then place the motor bolt so that it is over your sponge AND the Dark Matter. Done! I think I got it. So I make a really thing piece of square DM then make my sponge circle. Next I put the sponge circle in front of the DM and glue it together then attach the motor bolt to it? | 2010-07-05 23:39:00 Author: Unknown User |
Eek! No! Don't glue it! You got everything right, 'cept for the gluing part. If you glue anything to Dark Matter, it will not move. Which means: So I make a really thing piece of square DM then make my sponge circle. Next I put the sponge circle in front of the DM then attach the motor bolt to it? Is the right way to do it. | 2010-07-06 00:02:00 Author: Frinklebumper Posts: 941 |
