A retro space shooter!

Help defend the Imagination of the LittleBig Universe from a group of sackboys gone bad using your SW-X (SackWing-X)
to destroy their evil army of nasty space crafts!

Travel the galaxy to distant areas as you try to find their hideout and put an end to the (insert evil sackboy group name here)
evil ways before they steal all the imagination from the Little Big Universe!


Hello all!

This is my current project that I am planning for LBP2.

My hopes for this project are pretty big, as I hope to create an awesome new experience of the old retro shooter classics like Raiden, Aero-fighters and Space Mega-force to name a few.

I would like to make the game pretty lengthy, but I am unsure how long it will be, nor if I will ever actually finish what I start. My plan is to create a system that will allow me to create these levels fast, and with ease. Once I figure out some sort of system, I should be able to do it quite easily. However, I also want to make these levels challenging.


So, my thoughts for the levels set-up would be like:

Beginning
Flying/Enemies/shooting/stuff/you know. . . the game stuff
Possible mini-boss (depending on level)
More flying/Enemies/Powerups/shooting/Explosions/trying not to die etc. . .
Boss (Depending on level)

Now the way I see it there could be possibly be 1-2 levels or more (depending how I plan the part) in each section, planet, area etc. Hence the possible mini-boss/Boss for each level.

The main plot is:

You, as Captain Sack, live happily as creator, and have just finished your latest invention! A high-tech aircraft capeable of traveling through space and taking down evil with ease!(The SackWing X!!) However, a group of sackboys that feel neglected as part of the little big planet community, have vowed to steal all the imagination of the Littlebigplanet universe, leaving only their creations for people to play. Using their perfect and unoticed creating skillz, the sackboys united and have created a massive force of evil flying creations with lazers and other deadly hazards that would make a sack person soil their stuffing if they were to ever run into them in a dark alley! D: With this massive army, the Sack boys have traveled from craft planet to craft planet stealing all the creations and naying every level they pass. Its up to Captain Sack (thats You!) to chase these dasterdly sackboys down, and restore the LittleBigPlanet Universe's imagination back to its former golden glory!<3

(Epic, I know xD . . . .just kidding)


The Ship

So for the ship, im thinking a small, yet futuristic type of design
so it is easy to dodge plasma/bullets/projectiles and allow
for possible multiplayer situations without it getting too too cramped on screen.
The ship im thinking should be pretty fast, but not too fast so it
flies off in one direction with a small nudge of the directional stick
or directional pad.

Controlls-

Movement:

Directional pad - I personally think that the directional pad would be much better suited for this game because its a whole lot
more accurate movement wise and that will be essential when trying to dodge giant waves of projectiles

Shoot: R1
Bomb: Circle
Special: Square

The special is something im thinking of implementing. It could just end up being like a type of shield that emits around the ship and only lasts for a certain amount of time, or a gigantic laser beam that destroys anything in its path. Not exactly sure.

Okay so thats my Idea on this whole thing.

Later, when we actually get the game, i'll update this thread with progress,
the game set-up, ask for help or idea, etc.

Hey man, I'll give u some feedback. Sounds like your project will be pretty awesome if you know what your doing and the visuals are top notch.(btw is it top down or side-scrolling? O.o) The story sounds very fun and to the point like something of this genre should be If u need help with voice acting or anything I can try to help u out dude. As for the controls and what-not I think that you should add alot more offensive/ defensive movements. e.g. disintegrator cannon, nuke... All in all seems pretty awesome. Thanks! Yeah I plan on making some pretty top notch visuals for this project because after all, those games have some pretty gnarly visuals xD lol.

Also, I'm thinking of adding a special move for each strain of weapon power-up, instead of just one generic special.
I still have to decide on what kind of weapon power ups I want, but it would be like, if your using the missile power-up, then you'd
have a carpet bomb or airstrike special - lazer power-up equals a gigantic laser special, and so on and so forth.

And yeah maybe if I decide to do voice-overs and stuff for small things I might ask for some help because I don't even own anything to record a voice with xD!
