Made a level, but no ones playing it!

Archive: 9 posts

hi guys im new to both this site and Little bigplanet so go easy on me.

i spent two days last week making a level and put lots of work into making it, but when i checked a few days later,
only 8 people had played and 2 completed (together). they only gave it 2 star, which is fair enough but didnt leave any comments so i dont know what i can do to improve it. now it has vanished from the 'newest levels' section, i doubt anyone will play it because it only has two stars.

i was hopping a few of you will see this thread and maybe play my level and give me some feedback as to wether its any good and how i can improve it.

it is my first published level, but i have made more and havent published because they arnt great. its aprox 5 mins long and is fairly easy, has arrows showing you were to go, and boubles to reward the player.

Level Name: Climbing Death Mountain
My PSN: Scuzz_Parkour

I hope you take the time to play my level and leave some feedback

Hey there, welcome to the forums!

You won't get any constructive feedback on LBP. The majority of players don't bother to leave comments, and those who do might not have anything useful to say.

If you want to get some better feedback and more plays, you should post your level in the Level Showcase here :
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-Level-Showcase

You should also participate in F4F to get more feedback for your levels :
https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=7962-Feedback-For-Feedback

Hope that helps.

Put you level in the level showcase (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?40-Level-Showcase). Maybe take a couple of in-game pictures, too. 2010-07-01 19:57:00

Why not just republish every 5 minutes for a week? This keeps your level visible on the top pages and you'll soon get hundreds if not thousands of plays. You'll also get a crappy level rating, since there are factions out there who have a mission to keep their own crappy levels in the top slot for eternity, and they do this by gathering like a wolf pack to down rate new, up and coming levels with 1-stars and rubbish tags. There are also many impatient kids out there who will die a few times and then quit, rating your level badly.

I've experimented with this myself. I published a level and publicised it here, then left it alone for a few days. It maintained a steady 5-star rating for 4 days. Then I spent three days republishing over and over to see what would happen if I kept the level easily accessible to the casual masses. By the end of the week it had dropped to a 3-star rating, although it also had many more plays.

So, the conclusion I have reached from my experiment is this...

For more plays: republish over and over as often as you can for a week.

For better ratings: publish once, publicise here and never, ever hit the "publish level" button again.

Hope that helps
