Emperor Musta Chio demands the safe return of his panda.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18661

Much of his palace has been set on fire by the evil Kung Fu Master.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18664

He's even dropping fireballs down some conveniently placed tracks!

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18665

ZOMG, secrets? See if you can find them all ...

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18663

Darkness falls, and still you haven't found him. Where is he?

Any feedback will be awesome, guys. This level's also going into LBW6, so wish us luck!

PS: Sorry for not mentioning this earlier, but HUGE thanks to Keldur for being such an awesome creator to collaborate with, and HUGE thanks to comphermc for his silky logic skills on the boss! (and for the ducky)

Also, big thanks to Memodrix for recording the level.

I'll play this after my vacation when I can FINALLY get back on instead of going to my friends house. From the pictures and seeing it still in the works I can say that it has great visuals and I know I won't be able to ace it lol.

well... I've said it once, but I gotta say it again. absolutely awesome level! fantastic gameplay, fantastic stickering and visuals, and a fantistic boss! You guys have an excellent shot at the competition! I'd wish you luck, but I really don't think you need it. 2010-07-01 05:03:00

Love, love, love, (love) this level. The visual style is spot on, and the gameplay is fun without being overly difficult. The story is lighthearted, but is motivating enough to keep you going (in the event that the platforming doesn't do that already).

The boss is fantastic. It's so original and works very well. I had a blast (most of the time) making him work like he was supposed to.

Complaints...hm. I guess I would've liked to see some more consistent music. There were, what, five different songs? Yeah, cut it down to 2-3 and you are good. Unless you did that already... I know Keldur mentioned this while on my moon.

I gave it 5 stars and a heart as soon as you published it.

Not even a mention...? Pffft. Ha! I suppose the ducky sticker hiding in there is enough. He's still there, right?

Thank you so much everyone!
Also, thanks for wishing us good look. There are some very, VERY solid entries that we'll have to compete against, so chances are we'll really neeed it!

Oh, and hey, comph, I dunno why Holguin didnt mention you. Hells, he barely mentioned me!
And yup, im definetely tweaking the music, but before I need access to Holg's moon.

Well done guys, a brilliant level here! Right at the beginning, I was a bit indifferent at the familiarity of the theme, but by the time I'd gotten about a third of the way through I was completely won over. Great gameplay ideas, great detail, a ton of fun to play and the boss was very unique and clever. Definitely ranks up there with the best!

1 suggestion - a music change on defeating the boss?

Fantastic work, and good luck in the comp!

Hiya-

This level is very, very, very, very good. Seriously, this is in my top four favorite levels ever! You two make an amazing creating team. I love everything about this level, this is one of the few levels that have unique visuals and new gameplay ideas! And the boss, oh my the boss! He was one of the cleverest bosses in LBP! Spectacular job guys! Good luck in the competition, I think you have a good chance of winning.

I rated the level :star::star::star::star::star:, and <3ed.

Oh, and one more thing, I got the highscore!

Brilliant level KELDUR AND HOLGUIN86! The stickering is immense. The details is just second to none and some very unique and really fun gameplay! Good job on the boss comph! Boss was fun but a bit short. I did love the characters very much.

Sorry you guys - I was so excited about posting this I forgot the important details, and to do the music properly . Next time you're on Keldur we can dive in and get the music spot on, and I'm now posting you two in the OP (I did it on level description but forgot here - sorry!).

BTW, thanks for all the positive comments guys!

Great level. A few minor graphical niggles. But it looks and plays absolutely amazing. Loved the panda 2010-07-01 17:03:00

Music updated. Now more consistent hopefully.

Anyone know why the completion rate on the level is so low?

Ok time to be as brutally honest as i can Ill do a part by part review

Entrance - Great entrance. Good music choice and use of camera angle. First thing with the trees was cool with the buzzing. Fun little secret up on the trees. That's a plus so is the close level posts location. The guy is made really well.
First Obstacles - Really creative with the sliding blocks. A nice change for the grabbing circles too a little hard though. Nice secret there. Might want to lower difficulty on the drop to the second circle. Great idea to put a X2 there, unfortunately i don't have a friend playing with me right now so I'll have to skip it. Nice sliding passage. And nice camera effects
Fireball area - When I saw the snapshot of this I gonna say it looked lame but now that I'm playing the level it looks Really cool! Great job. After that the part where you have to jump down I didnt see at first but i eventually got it the circles below with half fire sides were really hard to jump off of.
Race - Nice little race a little slow with the changing sides though. cool wall slider things
Sliding ball thing - REALLY hard but I got past it. It was cool until i couldnt beat it. The boss was cool but the pattern was easily seen and the end was really cool with the panda!

Awesome level.

Brilliant visuals are great but it's the gameplay that blew me away. Going to play it I thought it would be another "The Islands" clone but I was totally wrong. The flow of the level design, the unique graphics and the most original gameplay for a while makes this the best level I've played in weeks.

I also saw the little conflict going on in the comments. What a load of crap. People are very jealous, especially these days on LBP. Hopefully this noob-ish talk ends with LBP2...

I really love the way on which you are brutally honest, haha! Im really glad that you liked the level and that you also came here to say so! Also, I'm sorry that you found the boss that easy, but I was afraid that it could be to hard, so when designing it I tried to keep it simple.

Thanks! Though i'd advice not to decide the rating of a lvl just because the screenshoots. I actually draw those by hand, you see.

Now that feedback did hurt me. Are you sure you dont want to play the lvl again and realize that the visuals are WAY better (please, note the caps on the word "way") than the gameplay? Seriously, I was pretty much the visuals guy here, so hey, that comment hurts D:

And yeah, the comment section has quite some debate going one. It saddens me, though on the other hand, from a humoristic point of view, what is written there is pure gold.

Thanks for the continual feedback guys. And as for the childish comments in the online level comments section, we'd just like to say that as far as we know, we have not broken any rules with our entry into LBW6. The level was published on time, well before the deadline, and is legitimately based on holidays/vacations (Chinese New Year being a public holiday in China, obviously! ). I, for one, have been hearing rumours that this level was published three hours AFTER the deadline - I will say here that we have impartial witnesses to the original publication of the level. Not to sound petty, but I would like to quash these rumours - I think we'd much rather be disqualified because the judges deemed our level inadequate than because of an alleged rule break.

Also, thank you for all the positive comments! We're glad you enjoy the level - we did, after all, spend about three weeks of hard graft on it

Well, I don't think your level can get disqualified by inadequacy.

I'm just gonna say one thing right off the bat here: It was kinda tense.
I'm gonna try to be absolutely bat-you-into-the-ground honest, and say everything that peeves me about this level.

- Fire. There is too much lethality in this level, and that takes away from how good it is, BECAUSE it feels much less like a vacation.
- Repetitiveness. There was too much of the same thing in this level, and that's another thing that I don't like. I kept swinging on orange sponge circles, and going on coveyor belts. That gameplay was cool, but it really was just too much of the same thing. I don't like that in a level, as it just takes away from it's enjoyability. I got bored of going through same old same old after about 2 and a half minutes. By the end of it I was aching for a change, and it just didn't come. =/
- Originality. Not too much of it. I saw those fire rollers, and I thought that that bit must've been almost entirely done by compher. It was less complicated than Roller Inc., but it still looked a bit like a clone.
- As I read from the contest details, it said holiday/vacation. Everyone thought "Oh. A holiday like new year or easter or christmas?" StevenI replied with the answer that he meant holiday as in vacation. You seem to have focused on Chinese New Year, less than a vacation. The panda was still cool. Also, fire doesn't really embody a vacation to me.
- Argh. The story. The story was pretty bad actually. I had no idea why everything was on fire, even though the guy had said something about chinese new year being ruined, I couldn't notice anything about a kung fu master or anything. It was very rough, and why was the panda saying something about a bamboo cage? I couldn't see anything in the first speech bubble about that.

Other than that it was pretty okay. Boss was cool, but I didn't get how the flying dragons were linked to the kungfu master coming down and a gun appearing.
I gave it 1 star and a tag of horrible.
Just kidding. 4 stars, and I'm not sure about a heart.

Thanks. It's goot to hear some constructive criticism once in a while, because it gives us an idea of improvements in the future (obviously none too drastic here as that's against the rules! ). That "public holiday" thing above was a joke, that was not what we were aiming for at all. As for the repeating obstacles, we never repeated the same type of platforming more than three times, and even then we changed it slightly as we progressed. And the story we tried to keep simple, purely because stories in LBP are usually pretty simple anyway. As for the fire rollers, Roller INC was not the first implementation of them (*cough* OH NO world 7 *cough*). I feel they are integrated in a completely different way in this level, more in the style of Serpent Shrine, which was where we got the idea. I'm surprised you made this comparison, as no-one else seems to have thought about it this way. Interesting.

Admittedly, there's a lot of fire, but that's just to make it exciting.

-About fire: I do agree. It sure looks very hazardous. I guess that that's what we get for tying to do a challenging level. Fire was necessary, I guess.
-We tried to stick to more or less the same gameplay elements in the level, and keep elaborating on them. I personally (personally!) like it that way, since I think it gives some consistency to the level; I always liked levels that take a few gameplay elements and build its whole gameplay by adding twists and changes to them.
-Oh, hey, I hadnt thought of the Roller Inc comparision either. And no, that wasnt done by compher. What compher did was barge into the level like a madman (I swear that the "kick out" feature doesnt work on him somehow), take a look at my original, unprecedented and mischevious logic and shout "That is not as efficient as it could be!" while spitting saliva all around. Then, he proceeded to re-invent the logic while also burying my already low self-esteem into the darkest metaphorical pit.
-I can see why you dont like the fire in the vacation context, but I'm afraid that neither plasma or electricity didnt work, let the gas alone. Spike would have been interesting, but they just arent versatile enough. And c'mon, LBP is about randomness! Do things really need to make sense??
-Oh, well, we sticked to the typical LBP story. "Hey, you, random sackperson, help us and risk your life for no reward at all by getting certain thing back/defeating evil guy" I believe that even Mm did that. I believe, though, that the speech bubbles are clumsily written, though. I guess that that's the result of having two creators flying around and changing the text whenever they felt like without telling the other one. I admit it, I did it!

Glad to see you liked the boss, though. And they were supposed to be Chinese rockets (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MryQii-dvu8/SKYDCjGTBXI/AAAAAAAADjk/9phXir6mmtA/s400/Mulan+Dragon+Head+Avalanch.PNG) (lol at the linked picture), and so was that "gun" you mentioned. And, c'mon, how can you not see the links between kung fu and chinse rockets that look like chinsese dragons? In my twisted mind it all makes sense! Now, where is my medication..?

Thanks for thee comprehensive feedback!

A very nicely created level. Some great gameplay ideas stuck in there and beautiful design. I played with 3 others and I have to say the moving roller part was very very challenging. Also I thought the boss was a little hectic and finished slightly early.

Still 5 stars and hearted based on design and some unique gameplay elements.

Okay, it's getting a bit late in France, I'm very tired and I can barely keep my eyes open...but I had to post something in this thread !

Honestly, I've played a lot of asian levels, and I wasn't too eager to play it when I saw the pictures for the first time.

My bad. This is one of the most enjoyable level I've ever played. I'm not keen on asian story mode levels, but I was very delighted to see how much your level was different. Your sceneries are way more detailed, realistic and pleasant.
Let's talk about gameplay. I think that's what I loved the most. Such clever and ingenious obstacles... ! I didn't think I'd find another level as smart as this one after playing Aperture Science. I had given up. It's way different than those Jump-Grab-Jump levels I am to play sometimes...

And the boss battle... Wow, one of my favorite boss in this game. I don't really know why, defeating him isn't that hard, but it's really enjoyable. I liked it a lot ^^

Well... That's all

I'm afraid I also fell in love! Though I wouldnt be sure of the shoe-in thing, I'd give it a toe-in at most; there are some incredibly amazing entries there, one of them being yours, definetely.

Thanks for the feedback! And yup, the roller section can be very challenging, specially if combined with a slap fight. And yes, I'm talking out of experience here. Also, good point. The boss is both hectic and CAN be short; keep in mind that you can miss him when shooting that rocket. Anyways, when working on my next boss, those are issues I'll try to avoid, thanks for pointing them out. Glad to see that overall great creators are liking this!

You know, after nice comments like this one, I cant help it but to remember that the actual reason why we built this lvl wasn't the contest at all; it was to just have fun (Hol prefers building gameplay over scenery and I'm just the other way round, so we formed a nice team) and to recieve comments that make you feel al fuzzy and warm inside. Glad to hear that you liked the visuals, since that was kinda my thing, along with the boss (on which comph decided to help). About the gameplay, I'm afraid you'll have to congratulate Hol, though!
Really happy that you liked it that much.

Also, I can't wait for beyond good and evil 2.

Fantastic level! I loved pretty much everything about it. The character design was great and the gameplay... oh my the gameplay! Incredible!

One thing that I did find a bit odd was the life meter on the final boss. While it was nice to know that I was doing damage, it looked out of place to me. Maybe something like Chinese lanterns that go out as you inflict damage would fit the theme better.

That's a small nitpick though for an otherwise outstanding level! Marry me!

Brilliant level here! I am kinda obsessed with pandas in my LBP at the moment so you can say I enjoyed the premise here.. a lot! I thought visually it was superb and fit the theme perfectly. It felt exactly like something I might expect to come on the disc the quality was that good. Lots of great platforming and with a couple of friends it was crazy fun. We all had a blast and for that :star::star::star::star::star: + <3

Best of luck in the comp guys!

6. I thought it was a great story, myself
7. The boss was amazing

- Great colour choices. Some of the best I have seen.
- Visuals were nice, I liked the little tower/checkpoints and stuff like that.
- I liked the conveyor belts and zipline the best. Second playthrough, I found it quite difficult to get onto the first right angle piece. Perhaps that is where the kids quit?
- Good thing you put the life meter on the boss, as I didn't know I was doing the right thing until I noticed it. Took me a few attempts to hit him.
- I felt the ending was rather weak based on the greatness of what came previous.
- Looks as good as a MM level, but I felt there were too many point bubbles compared to the story levels, if you were going for that.
- I'm also a big believer in clear direction, but I think you can get rid of those arrows.
- Oh and the heart tattoo on the panda at the end ruined it. Well, not really, I just don't think it matched the tone of the level.

I was tough and gave it 4 stars.
Good luck in the comp.

Yeah, I had doubts about that. I might go in pretty soon and lower the speed of those right angle pieces. It's very tricky in that place with two players as well, you have to get a run-up.

Wow!! What a great level you have made here. It simply is gorgeous. The paltforming is some of the best I have ever played, and I have played them all. I have always enjoyed your levels, and I think this is your best yet.

Congrats on the spotlight, I gave you five stars and a heart. <3

My ps3 psn is not VelcroJonze, it's samiamiamsam.

Remember it wasn't just me who worked on this though, Keldur was a co-creator too, putting in some awesome visuals (and one of the best NPCs I've seen in LBP ), although I'm sure you knew that already

EDIT: I decided not to change the speed of those right-angled pieces in the zipline section as it actually made it harder to move between them, as the rotation is slower and doesn't give the zipper-thing that much momentum.

Ive played through this level atleast 3-4 times straight and couldn't find a problem with it. Everything was just unique. My favorite obstacles were the ones with the ceiling was moving. That was just genius by you and keldur. I mean everything was well constructed. The only problem I saw was in the room where there are 5 platforms moving in different directions. When you trying to exit the room theres a wall sticking down from the ceiling. Sometimes that gets in the way of the jump to the layer to move forward. But its minor. Probably me being picky . Also I thought the boss was a little easy. I think it wouldve been better with a random sequence but thats me being picky again. Overall I think this level is perfect the way it is. You two make a very good team. Hope Y'all make more together.

Well if you two aren't busy and is still doing F4F, could you check out my level Kinetic Crisis? The link is in my sig.

Outstanding level. The level design is jaw-dropping the way the stickers are well decorated and the gameplay is top notch. The boss battle is great but for some reason his arm fell off when I miss-fired the rocket. Overall this level deserves 5 stars and a heart.

Play and F4F "The Hero Chronicles LV4 The Lost Lagoon" if you can.

The flaming pieces that follow the tracks was a nice touch, loved how you changed their direction.
All the platforming is brilliant.
Holy crap the part after the turning wheels is super hard, I am murdering my score!
Nice boss, it was fun getting Lu-Kanged in the head!

Congratulations on the crown Holguin! Although, perhaps "1 creator only" should be added as a contest guideline, as having two or three doesn't seem fair to me, or anyone else for that matter. Tis' simple reasoning!2010-07-31 16:58:00

Thanks. To tell the truth, I didn't want to enter the level in the first place, but Keldur insisted. Suffice it to say that we will doubtless work together again and next time Keldur will win a crown!

Thanks to Steveni and the team at LBW, too.

Would've been better if you didn't anyway! Now StevenI has decided to postpone the contests and I am in the dreariest mood possible out of all possible moods. 2010-08-01 17:43:00

A really great level with fantastic visuals and wonderfully creative gameplay. I got a bit stuck at the part where you grab the sponge and slide across the platforms, but managed it eventually and reminded me of completing a hard part of the story level's way back when.

Overall I gave :star::star::star::star::star: and a big fat <3. Tag: Braaaaaains!

honestly i didnt even think to look for a thread here but here is what i thought

this level was amazing, not just the detail but you also had some of the most creative bits a gameplay I have seen in a long time. It's multiplayer friendly, the story was simple but it flowed very nicely. I don't have any negative feedback for you at the moment, but all I can say is that it is well worthy of the spotlight and the winner of LBW6, congratulations and I can't wait to see more from you. 5 stars and a heart

hoo boy, l1ghtmare showed me this level today... i just kept saying 'man, i love this level' every couple minutes. seriously flawless, and THE best dojo theme level i've played, by a huge margin. this is one of the top 5 levels i've played since i've been back; one of the one's that's made me clean off all the subpar older stuff from my hearted list.

everything with gorgeous, the material set and stickering was wonderful, and the way it was etched and layered in symmetrical lines... man... great mechanics and boss platforming too. i would pay for a game full of levels like this.
