Doctor Who Project?

Archive: 59 posts

I've been on and off for this project. I've got a few concepts in my head, but not fully developed into a story.

I started a level but deleted it due to it not having that "Dr Who flair".

If anyone is interested in helping, please speak up.

The Doctor definately isn't an action hero. He uses his wits to get out of tight situations. But, he does do a lot of jumping about. So that's why I think, in terms of gameplay, this list does the project-to-be's justice.

1. Platforming
2. Stealth
3. Brain bubble enemies
4. No paintinator. No guns for the Doctor.
5. Races
6. Puzzles. Puzzles. Puzzles.
I also think maybe multiple choice bits and different endings would be cool.

I need a few people very familiar with the Dr Who universe to first of all develop a story for the project.

Any takers?

I have also made a TARDIS... I'll try and get a pic to see what you think. It's only the exterior, But I'm really proud of it!!

(I've actually put it in a small level just so you can get it... You win the TARDIS front, side and back at the end)

Yeah, I actually deleted it. Although it had an awesome story, if I do say so myself, the gameplay was crap. Hope I do pick it up again though, and be prepared for it.

I'd love to see it. Mine is terribly rushed with minor detail. I'd guess yours is much better...

So, is this going to be a series of levels?
i.e.
1st level = first episode
...
Last level = Finale

If so, then we can have different stories for each, but containing hints at the finale (maybe they should be more subtle than the large glowing cracks).

I'd like to apply as a "Logickeer" and as a Aesthetics Technician.

and i could be a script write but if someone else wants to do that?

I don't think there should be Brain Bubble Enemies, the Doctor doesn't kill intentionally

Maybe we could use your tap grab for the sonic screwdriver? (Maybe also jump_button's torch carrying logic (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=21731-Make-Anything-you-want-wightless-only-when-you-are-grabing-it)? )
How about, we assign people to write a short plot for an episode once the story finale has been sorted. This way we can incorporate the subtle hints.
Speaking of which, what are we using?
Time, dimensions, space, invasion, unknown phenomenomenon?

Well, here's the thing. I don't want this project to carry into LBP2. In other words, if we do quite a few levels we'll have to work fast.

I think a group is in order for discussions. What do ya think?

Oh yeah, here's my TARDIS...

I think we should have daleks with brain bubbles that are set to follow and shoot stuff so that the player has to kill it. what do you guys think?

I think we should do some accidental deaths like a wall falls on them or something, so we can show the doctor does get angry.

Yes, My TARDIS is a little more detailed... Search my username and look for the TARDIS level (I haven't spent time on making the inside yet, maybe we could work on that together?)

Also, add me and next time I'm online, I'll accept and I can show you some of my creations if you like! =)

Oh, and as KernelM said, you should be able to deactivate enemies rather than destroying them!

I can run through the level as progress goes on to fix small details too if you like - I'm not great at making a base level, but I can make lots of adjustments!!

I've just thought of a mini puzzle you could have in one of the levels: You could have some sort of code / puzzle to sort out in order to fix the sonic screwdriver. Once you've done that, you can unlock almost any door - except wooden ones of course The screwdriver doesn't do wood!

Wow this sounds quite fun.

I've also made a TARDIS (both the 10th and 11th Doctors with exterior and interior). The 10th doctors is pretty rubbish but I'm quite proud of my 11th Doctors if anyone wants to take a look

I've also made a carriable sonic screwdriver (10th doctors) that can actually open doors and whatnot, a version of the time vortex and a TARDIS materialising rig.

I think I'll join!

Edit: Heres some pictures so you can decide whether I'm good enough to join or not

Sonic Screwdriver (not a portable one just a full sized one)

My version of the 10th Doctor ( not that he'll come in handy or anything )

The 10th Doctors TARDIS

@theamilien

Those are some pretty cool things you've made! The tardis' shapes are a little off, but apart from that!!
Also, do you have a picture of your interior?

@talbot-trembler

I'm going to start trying to make the inside of the TARDIS soon... (probably at the weekend) So If you add me, and you're online we can work on that together!

If the Daleks are set to be making an appearance in the story somewhere, you can use my Paradigm Dalek Emperor if you like:
18678
Don't let the lighting fool you, btw, he's white/gold in colour. (White = Supreme, Gold = Emperor - the two together make for a proper regal mix for a Paradigm Dalek Emperor.) You can make him whatever colours you like, though. I can also make some Dalek enemies should you need them, too. Feel free to send me a message on PSN if you need them and I'll whip 'em up for you.

Wow! A Dr Who thread and it took #35 posts before Daleks were mentioned!

Now for something more constructive...

Put a time limit on your puzzles. The Dr is always working against the clock.

The threat more often than not is the destruction of the human race from alien invasion/interference. Hmmm time vortex.... you could watch a senario play out around you. Hop in the T.A.R.D.I.S go back in time and then attempt to change the senario as it happens again nearly the same way. Not quite hide behind the couch material but I'm sure you can spice it up a bit.

Oh almost forgot.... someone has to make a stupid mistake that makes everything worse before the Dr saves the day.

Make it bigger on the inside... lethal gas teleport with prox switch to other checkpoint. 0.1s global lighting change (fade to black) optional

Trust me, by the time you play these levels you'll want to learn more about it.

We have fantastic ideas and stories. Here's a little snippet of what we might use as the main story.

The Drensk used to dwell on the planet Drenz their technology grew more advanced so the planet could no longer sustain them they built giant harvesters powered by sunlight, but the sunlight was too weak. So they built a Fusion Accelerator to speed up their suns burn rate, it collapsed in on itself within months the solar harvesters absorbed the strong sunlight and stored it, one ship that was particularly close absorbed a form of energy known as Time Potential Energy (What the weeping angels eat) so they began harvesting that too, they stripped their solar system of minerals leaving an empty husk surrounding the remnants of a star; A Black Hole.

The Drensk moved from Solar System to Solar System first stealing their sun then going into the planets and stripping it of everything (including meat ie the indigenous species) they were unknown throughout the galaxy as every species assumed it was the work of the black hole. The Tempral Generator harvested the remaining potential lifetimes of the stars and slowly built up reserves. Their Aim: to gather enough to produce a gateway to before the Dark Ages (where the Racnoss come from) and harvest the stars lifetimes...*
