I LOL'd how WE didn't NEED a LBP2 Before....
Archive: 29 posts
We were like..."We don't need a 2nd game..." We thought we had a enough tools to create levels in lbp1. But when LBP 2's anouncement,tools,and info/details were revealed,everyone NEED LBP2... isn't that funny??? DISCUSS. | 2010-06-28 21:19:00 Author: SackBoy98 Posts: 588 |
Well... before lightbulbs and refrigerators were invented, nobody needed them... | 2010-06-28 22:23:00 Author: Tyler Posts: 663 |
That's because people are hesitant to change. Many people think they have everything they need until they see more of what they like. Its like buying a 2008 Camaro and thinking to yourself that you have everything you want in a car until next years model comes out and you find out it has heated cup holders and you're like OMG, I must have it. People will not want change right away until it is slapped right in the front of their face. "Enlong's philosophy" | 2010-06-28 22:25:00 Author: Enlong3 Posts: 357 |
Heated cup holders?! Brb | 2010-06-28 22:39:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
I hinestly never thought they would do a sequal. I was even sceptical when the first lost of info leaked. but mm have done amazing, so many great new ideas i didnt even know i needed. | 2010-06-28 23:12:00 Author: samalot Posts: 591 |
In fairness, everything in LBP2 could have been provided as DLC / updates, so in actual fact we never did need a sequel and still don't - the reason people were so against LBP2, conceptually, was that they thought it implied a reset on the engine and tools, rather than an extension. I still think that a full sequel was the right way for Sony to go, rather than numerous DLC packs, but it was not a necessity | 2010-06-28 23:16:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
I didn't know it would be so great. At first I thought it would just be a few tools and stuff, and it would have been better if they just had it as an LBP addon, but then when I saw teh epicness that will be included, that changed. Now I can't WAITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT | 2010-06-28 23:57:00 Author: tjb0607 Posts: 1054 |
I lold how there's yet another thread like this. | 2010-06-29 01:18:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Yep, and I was perceived as crazy when I was saying they'd do a sequel anyways... . | 2010-06-29 02:29:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Mm could have have put LBP2 as DLC updates, but Mm stated that they wanted to reach new people with a new game, if it were done with only DLC, they would only reach people with LBP1. So that's a good reason why Mm decided so... | 2010-06-29 03:40:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

I hope lbp2 has heated cupholders.... Haha, you made me crack up two times in the same thread with the same joke..! I also though it would be a crazy move from Mm, because I somehow made the assumption -and I believe many people, even before realizing, did- that it wouldnt be backwards compatible. Videogames arent normally backwards compatible, so we couldnt think of LBP being one of those who broke this "law". I guess that we forgot that, hey, it was Mm who we were talking about! Still, I was expecting LBP2 to be -rather an engine overhaul and more of everything- something much more different than LBP2 is from LBP. Something like this (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=12646-My-big-ideas-for-Little-Big-Planet-2). Yup, I just linked one of the oldest LBP2 speculation threads. EDIT: I just actually re-read the thread I linked. JonMartin got it nearly all right! | 2010-06-30 00:55:00 Author: Keldur Posts: 628 |

So that's a good reason why Mm decided so... Exactly what was "written in the sky" imo. This is simply how it makes sense to do business in this industry. . | 2010-06-30 03:50:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
I dunno, when I look at LBP2 it's less of a sequel and more like Dlc that's too big to download, no one else agree? It's like buying a disk-based expansion pack of awesomeness. | 2010-06-30 04:28:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
I dunno, when I look at LBP2 it's less of a sequel and more like Dlc that's too big to download, no one else agree? It's like buying a disk-based expansion pack of awesomeness. true. but its well worth it | 2010-06-30 06:29:00 Author: 767 Posts: 123 |
Well there main reason for a sequel was you'd have to download a 4gb patch if they didn't. Also I suspect that some core elements of the game engine were fundamentally incompatible with the things they wanted to add, and so they were better off to rewrite a lot of it and make it a separate entity rather than trying to merge it with the existing game. Also this way brings in more players...and monies. | 2010-06-30 14:20:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
true. but its well worth it Wha? Do you think I'm not buying this after I said ' it's like buying a disk-based expansion pack of awesomeness '?! | 2010-06-30 17:41:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
Exactly what was "written in the sky" imo. This is simply how it makes sense to do business in this industry. I should have quoted rtm there, but then I re-read his post (When you posted later on) and I realized it wasn't quite what I thought it was. So once again I just said something really obvious. | 2010-06-30 17:49:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

I notice on suggestion section how people like to say that they don't need that and that, they can use what is now today, but some people actually have nice ideas worth discussing I notice the same thing with game called Quake Live htat is like upgrade to Quake 3, people didn't want to have changes, but they forgot that whole game menu and system got replaced by website and hosting method changed so game it self needed changes. Humans simply don't like to think about changes. | 2010-06-30 22:51:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
I love how in almost every early interview with Media Molecule, the interviewer would always ask of an "LBP2". I called shenanigans, predicting the standard Mm reply (a slight chuckle followed by a glance at the person next to them, soon followed by some type of hand motion and a firm statement by an Mmer expressing that an LBP2 is unnecessary). I for one believed LittleBigPlanet made anything possible, and a sequel would be complete blasphemy...However, LittleBigPlanet 2 makes making anything possible EASIER. And after a moment of euphoria when looking at the Announcement Trailer, I gladly accepted this change. Thx for reading all of this. kthxbye | 2010-07-01 05:01:00 Author: Night Angel Posts: 1214 |

If that came with an explanation of who was who, I might get it, but as it is, it's just gibberish to me. Also, the spoiler in the post above me has rude words within it - if you wish to keep your sanity, do not click. | 2010-07-09 18:22:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
