Is there too much hype?
Archive: 46 posts
With Lbp2 just on the horizon, I can't help but wonder because everybody is saying 'It's going to be so great.. etc.. etc..' that it might not live up to our expectations and we all, might be massivelly dissapointed. For example, anyone here watching the World Cup? Didn't England do terrible? But everyone said (English people, anyway) that they were going to be brilliant. No such luck. It probably won't be, but I'm just a little frightened LBP2 will fall flat on its good-intended bum. Discuss? | 2010-06-28 00:17:00 Author: AgentBanana Posts: 511 |
If Mm stick true to all the features they plan for it, then it should do well. | 2010-06-28 00:21:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I think I need reassurance more than anything. | 2010-06-28 00:29:00 Author: AgentBanana Posts: 511 |
Bother the people who were at the community game jam, they know the most about the game anyways. | 2010-06-28 01:08:00 Author: Prince Pixelton Posts: 286 |
Actually, it's just like the World Cup. Only the English people think it's going to be good. But seriously, people have already played it, in an early, glitchy state, and still said it was amazing. So unless MM somehow makes it worse, it'll be great. | 2010-06-28 01:39:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
We have had threads like this before. I think it will do well considering that LBP was a blast (even though never "completely done"). | 2010-06-28 02:07:00 Author: AbstractFlesh Posts: 837 |
LBP2 takes the idea that LBP had and perfects it- everything that didn't make it into the first game made it here, and every limitation the first game had is now gone. Now walk up to my face and tell me that doesn't sound awesome. | 2010-06-28 03:00:00 Author: Tyler Posts: 663 |
Pretty much every game ever made never lives up to the hype. LittleBigPlanet did, and even proved way better than hoped. For LittleBigPlanet 2, they're keeping the same great game, just adding WAY WAY more. So yes, it WILL live up to the hype, or pretty close anyways. | 2010-06-28 03:15:00 Author: Testudini Posts: 3262 |
Actually, LBP1 failed in how complicated it could be to create certain things. Anyway, there actually isn't that much hype for the game. They've really only just shown stuff that's in the game and working. Right now, the excitement is really just from us players who are seeing all the possibilities, and fulfillment of those unfulfilled wishes from LBP1. | 2010-06-28 05:45:00 Author: Vertrucio Posts: 119 |
Some people over hype it some don't, as simple as that. Look, people over-hype anything new with "new features" and stuff, its normal to hype stuff like that. BUt of course its not a "must" to hype it, you can just feel "meh" about it too. So yeah varies from person to person. | 2010-06-28 06:17:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Actually there is a significant buzz around here but in the grand scheme of things, LBP2 did not impact the E3 as much as LBP1 did. People in general simply aren't talking as much about LBP2 than they were about LBP1. Of course there's the novelty that is not there this time around but I don't think there is "too much hype". It's like the game would need a little more actually. It will probably get more as we approach release. . | 2010-06-28 06:23:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

I don't think so. Just look at the response from the Creator Jam. They all loved it! If any of those guys would have come back disappointed, then I'd be worried. Thankfully, that was not the case. | 2010-06-28 13:10:00 Author: mrsupercomputer Posts: 1335 |
People get really excited when a new costume comes out. When over 50 MM levels, hundreds of new stickers, music, materials and decorations to build with, loads of new tools and logic is announced, I think people get appropriately excited.... | 2010-06-28 13:19:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
Well, apart from some people who read things in the spoilers that aren't there, who might feel disappointed when their hopes are destroyed later, I'd say the hype is justified. A lot of stuff is going to be much easier to do. For instance, I struggle making characters, and sackbots will save me some time. On the other hand, people shouldn't expect making a good level will be a simple affair, taking just a few hours. The biggest chunk of time spent on realizing a level is on getting it look the I want, and apart from some new materials, I don't see myself saving a lot of time there. | 2010-06-28 13:28:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
The fact that it is 100% compatible with everything we already have is going to make this bigger better and better and better and better than LBP. I cant wait for it (well I can but I don't want too ) | 2010-06-28 13:45:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
I'm absolutely certain that LBP2 will be all that it's cracked up to be. England lost the football because instead of having a team of sportsmen we have a team of overpaid divas who are more concerned with gang raping women in hotels, hit and run driving and getting their wags featured in Hello magazine than they are with striking a victory for our country. Mm aren't the England team...they are passionate, dedicated and sincere in what they do...so don't fret, because LBP2 will be amazing. | 2010-06-28 15:43:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
I think the stuff we've already seen, pretty much guarantees it's going to be mindblowing! | 2010-06-28 16:03:00 Author: Kiminski Posts: 545 |
Everything they've told us up to this point is only half the cookie, the really amazing stuff will be what we see a few months after release. | 2010-06-28 16:08:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |

You know what, interesting story, every single game that I've ever been looking forward to has always disappointed me, (not to say they weren't good, just not as good as expected) except one game, LittleBigPlanet, that was better than I expected, so I expect LBP2 will be the same and will be better than we all expect. | 2010-06-28 17:26:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
I think it will suck. That is why I go to this website everyday just to see more info about it and then **** my pants. | 2010-06-28 17:55:00 Author: CYBERSNAKE Posts: 280 |

Hmmmm.. thanks for the responses. But I honestly don't think it will have the same volume of 'that feeling' when I first played LittleBigPlanet. It will be good though, im not slanting that. I just don't expect it to be 'teh greatest game evar!!1!'. | 2010-06-29 14:02:00 Author: AgentBanana Posts: 511 |

In my opinion it's always good to not buy into any hype becuase then if it is good you get blown away vs having massive expectations and then the thing turns out nothing like what you expected and your mind resembles something like a deflated balloon. I do think this will be an epic game, I love collecting prize bubbles from story levels so I can't wait for that part alone. All the new tools etc are the icing on the cake. I think a lot more will be possible so for me that's enough to get really excited. Can't wait to try my hand at different genres etc. | 2010-06-29 21:48:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |
I am excited, but also a little bit anxious. lbp update 1.07 is still a number that almost haunts me.. Losing allmost all my work and even corrupting my acc. But most of all, I hope MM will take better care of us, with that I mean keep the news page updates on a regular basis, MM picks that get updated more often and most of all a stable editor that doesnt crash when you rewind in co-op editing. I allready got a page full of idea's I want to create in lbp2 and also busy with rewritting most of Sack, The legendary to intergrate a lot of the new technology.. So I am hyped.. but.. a little.. sceptic as well.. healthy sceptisism. | 2010-06-29 22:02:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |

Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. So true. Quite pathetic, but true... Aim low and avoid disappointment Anyway, LBP2 will be great. Hype or not, this will be a wonderful game. Everything plus some | 2010-06-30 02:40:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
People are only getting hyped on the features they know are in, so I don't foresee disappointment. | 2010-07-06 13:14:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
The thing is guys... You cant really stop being exited. Trust me, if people could do that... I believe they would probably do it anyway. I am exited quite a bit and i cant just say im not exited and i will predict it to be poo. I have full trust in media molecule that they will please everyone of us. | 2010-07-06 13:50:00 Author: fruitmanlolli Posts: 151 |
Cool, you know i was just being cynical. I'm actually really excited about this game. But it's better to sometimes look at in a unbiased way and ask questions. Just to see what people think and stuff. | 2010-07-06 15:31:00 Author: AgentBanana Posts: 511 |
I don't know if the best place to voice your concerns is a fan community dedicated to the game in question. One of the last things you're going to get is an unbiased opinion. Personally, I don't know if I really want "that feeling" when I first played the game. The feeling that I would prefer is more of a "it's about time," or a "this is what the first game should have been." Seriously, it's taken them two years to finally get fast scrolling into the game. I just hope that , this time around, the players won't be in constant fear of losing their entire profile, because the isn't stable enough to handle one simple mistake. | 2010-07-07 17:25:00 Author: DarkDedede Posts: 672 |
Meh, I wouldn't worry too much about the profile. At least now we can back it up safely and conveniently. Unless they accidentally break that, too... | 2010-07-07 18:41:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |

I meant unbiased question! Me saying an unbiased question! Maybe it's the way I phrased it, but please don't assume. I always manage to dig myself a hole.. Arrghhh! I meant unbiased question! Me saying an unbiased question! Maybe it's the way I phrased it, but please don't assume. I always manage to dig myself a hole.. I wonder if that's the centre of the Earth.. Don't worry I was just making a bit of a funny. Nothing wrong with being somewhat skeptical. I tend to question things as well. If everyone is thinking the same, then someone isn't thinking. Just don't be discouraged if majority of the replies that you get are of the "BEST.GAME.EVAR!!111" variety. Those types usually end up singing a different tune once things go south. Meh, I wouldn't worry too much about the profile. At least now we can back it up safely and conveniently. Unless they accidentally break that, too... Two words: Murphy's Law. | 2010-07-07 20:51:00 Author: DarkDedede Posts: 672 |
Hey, all I have to say is that I am wetting myself to get into the beta, if only to see the new features that the community game jam didn't see. Also, if you find Murphy's law in effect, just Murphy's Oil Soap | 2010-07-07 22:28:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
