Note: The crew would like to welcome it's two newest members: Duffluc and Asbestos101. We're really glad to have you on board - welcome!

PS3 Spotlight
Rocket Knight AdventuresGEK83/GEK83
http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4104/rk4f.jpgThis for many will probably be a level like many other, but for who like me as kid played it on Mega Drive this is going to be an huge jump in the past!

I didn't have the pleasure of playing the game this level is based on but if this is any indicator it would have been hilarious! It has very funny pig characters using all kinds of gadgets to try and bring down sackboy, great variety of platforming and a real side scrolling feel to it. GEK83's character design skills are no stranger to the spotlight and these porcine pests really make this a memorable and fun level to play. Go hog wild and check it out!
Having never owned a megadrive myself, I can't speak for how true a homage this is but from an impartial position, I can say that this level has a real sense of character and charm that totally disarms you, right about the time that pigs with swords come along to try and turn you inside out and spill your sacking everywhere! Speedy platforming and great character design make for an entertaining blast even if you aren't familiar with the source material.
A classic game deserves a classic level, and that's exactly what GEK83 has delivered with his latest offering! Don't think you have to have played the original game to enjoy this tribute, it's a blast in in its own right, and will really make you want to check out the original!
Motion Instigation 2Elguerogigante/Elguerogigante
http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz63/xiv_mofo/APhoto_11.jpgNothing moves on its own in this basic puzzle-platformer. Momentum, precision, and quick reflexes are the keys to success in this level.

It's great to see a unique platforming concept crop up every now and then, and this is innovative platforming at his best. You'll need a good sense of balance and an eye for momentum if you're to navigate these free-flowing obstacles. Some cleverly concealed secrets are available too, if you choose to seek them all out. Challenging hardcore players and rookies alike, this level is a perfect balancing act!Momentum driven platforming that's just on the hard side of medium difficulty is what you'll find in this innovative level from Elguerogigante. Careful observation of the blocks and pendulums will help you keep moving forward while precision and timing will get you more bubbles and some fiendishly placed secrets. Really beautifully lit in blues and purples it's easy on the eyes too. Best to tackle this one alone though as your buddy may set things in motion that will make it even more difficult than intended.
For every action there is a reaction, or so the saying goes. Elguerogigante's brilliant level takes this concept and utilizes it masterfully to create fresh, challenging platforming that is as fun as it is satisfying. Subtle lighting accompanied by beautiful visuals create a tranquil atmosphere that fit the gameplay perfectly.
I love it when levels openly embrace the LBP physics engine, as it usually has very satisfying results. Here is such one example, where player momentum and balloons are included as key factors in almost all of the puzzles. Take this one nice and slow and you'll bound through this floaty dreamscape with a big smile on your face. Oh my gosh! I never realised this game had such incredible physics! Here is a cracking level with clean visuals and the most intriguing gameplay that needs your little sackboy scrambling and steadying his way to the scoreboard. Physics has never been so cool.
Lost Ages IVDeftMute/DeftMute
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/elahrairha/la4screen3.jpgOur courageous sackperson seeks yet another Sun Sphere. This time in an age of high technology. Now the towering steel constructs are overgrown and crumbling. Can you renew hope?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh16HHypqAE&feature=player_embedded

There are two kinds of LBP players in this world. Those that see that DeftMute has produced another Lost Ages level and rejoice and those that run screaming the other way. I count myself in the first camp and find these extreme camera platformers a real challenge. This installment has some diabolical combination challenges that even the hardest of the hardcore will need a pass or two to complete. Some of the best use of moving background spots from the Pirates of the Carribean background I've seen too. So if you can't get enough of these levels saddle up - it's gonna be a bumpy ride!
*Runs screaming the other way* ... I guess it's easy to see which camp I fall into, as Morgy puts it, . But seriously though, even just getting as far in as I did, it's easy to see that Deftmute has put the time in to make this a slick and streamlined experience. If you're up for the challenge or have a bit of patience, i'd imagine completing this level would be a lot more than just satisfying! No other level will put you through so much pain and anguish than this. However when you finally stand upon the leaderboard victorious, you will rejoice like never before. It's a feeling of total triumph after you conquer some of the hardest, well-designed camera platforming challenges. A great experience to be sure.
A Patchwork WorldMalhat06/Malhat06
http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/6117/aphoto12.jpgIts a soft and cuddly adventure in a patchwork world. Simple and fun, filled with lots of classic little big planet mechanisms, all dressed up in a patchwork quilt! Have fun and enjoy

A welcome change to the foray of hectic, frantic, metallic levels out there, this soft and squishy platformer will tickle some different taste buds for a change. A laid-back kind of level that sackboy will feel right at home in!No plasma spewing, complicated, enemy raining electric death action in this charming level from Malhat06, and that's what I love about it. Whimsical and full of bright and friendly fabric patters, cute buttons and sewn together seams will have you smiling as you wander this soft and lovely level. Easy to moderate platforming keeps it stress free and gives you plenty of time to take in the textures of the varied textiles. What better world for a knit sickbay to chill out in?
A well chosen pallette of striking materials come together in this lovely stroll through a squishy and pretty platformer. Pure gameplay in this one, which is nice because everything is well paced and fair, a truely a satisfying gad.
You will have a wonderfully relaxing gad while you adventure through this artistic and colorful level from Malhat06. Superb level design, an abundance of shiny bubbles and adorable visuals make this level a true blast to play through. Great material choices and and some fantastically fun platforming lend themselves to this level to create a world that sackpeople everywhere will adore. Surely sackboy would fit in well to this world of fabric, and yes he does! The most colourful level is a joy to play through. The visuals accompany the gameplay perfectly to allow sackboy to knit his way comfortably through the brilliant gameplay. Joyful and a perfect level if you want to introduce newcomers to the wonderful world of lbp.
Incongruous Adventurefullofwin/Elvenbane
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18138&d=1275852270A freak burst of deadly creative energy has inexplicably fused all the partially filled craters of Elvenbane's moon into a single hideous quivering mass of a level...and it's up to you to tame it.

Just when I think I've seen it all in LBP, I see a cavern made from chicken legs! Incredible use of stickers, lighting, platorming and score combos make it as fun to play through as it is to look at. This level is superbly crafted, right down to the rusted, grinding portcullises.
Ingenious secondary uses of objects abound in this level; chicken wings for rocks? You WHAT? Either way, it all comes together to create a wonderful faux 3d style level that doesn't have to resort to the 3d glitch to be gourgeous. fullofwin uses his aesthetic skills to create a swampy platformer that is both visually pleasing and a joy to play.
Beautifully crafted environments dripping with detail and fun, unique platforming will be your companions while you explore this brilliant level by Fullofwin. As you traverse your way through dank caves, swing through snake infested swamps and light up dark passages, you will come to realize this is one adventure you're glad you didn't miss.Full of magical scenes, fullofwin really knows how to use objects to their full potential. Brilliant caverns and an awesome snake were the highlights for me in this level. Very creative use of materials, stickers and even chicken legs?.. wow. Fullofwin is back again with his signature expertise of how to wow the crowd with his use of objects and unique stickering technique. A joy to behold throughout and surely you won't forget this level!
STAR WARS: Return to the Death Star: err... Etc!julesyjules/julesyjules
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18227&d=1276810191The circle is nearly complete. With your friends doing battle down on Endor, you arrive on the new Death Star, ready to face the Dark Side. The Empire however, is in need of a little helping hand.....

Another superb addition to julesyjules' epic saga, this level is just as funny, innovative and visually stunning as its predecessors. I can guarantee that you'll never have balanced on top of stormtroopers painting the floor of a Death Star before! Unique yet true to the movie, this level is an absolute must-play for any Star Wars fan.
Julesyjules has outdone himself on this level. If you've played his previous Star Wars levels you know how good this one is going to be too. I don't need to say another word?. What? Your still here? Seriously, go play it?. now!
Continuing the internet's time honored tradition of non-stop parodying the star wars franchise, Jules has been steadily contributing his unique line of humor in the form of this series- and this addition is no different! But to say this is just more of the same, that would be a massive under-statement. As always, lots of film references are scattered throughout this series, an avid fan can't help but laugh when they see them, and it all comes together in a gourgeously interpreted and executed 'gaddable' version of the death star... the guy is a legend! Get going!
The return of Julesyjules beloved series marks your return to the Death Star, in this hilarious romp through the Star Wars universe. Clever dialogue and humour accompanied by great platforming and visuals means that Whether you're a fan of the movies or not, this is a level you won't waht to miss!
Sack of Persia and the Sands of TimeTOBSn08/TOBSn08
http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_9-2.jpgIt says the one who finds the giant hourglass in the Sultan's temple gets the power to control time. So what are you waiting for...

A lot of levels try and use time-based gameplay, but this one really packs a punch. Don't be distracted by the awesome decorations as you manoeuvre through a wide variety of rollers, shockers and even a giant hourglass! This is one of my all-time favourite levels - don't you dare miss it out!Beautiful and unmerciful are the words that come to mind after playing this level. Lighting that is beautiful and unique meets very innovative and challenging platforming that many times you only get one shot at before meeting an electrifying end. Oh yea, did I mention the limited life checkpoints and the variable speeds as time goes haywire? No? Well it has those too. If you can handle the challenge and you've got the time, this is one of those great levels where you'll think, "why didn't I think of doing that!?"This level is a real treat with wonderfully cunning platforming compounded by the nature of an inconsisent flow of time! But what else would you expect from the level title? The platforming is in a nice synergy with the aesthetics where they compliment each other without infringing and it all comes together for a satisfying finish. This isn't for the weak of heart, if you're up for this trial of time then you should definatly bring some temporally resistant, clean underwear and some determination; but it's totally worth it!Enter a magical land where time is but a plaything and platforming, is not your friend. But superbly designed, fastastic gameplay that will really test your skills isn't the only thing this level has to offer. Gorgeous visuals and hidden secrets that offer a fantastic reward will keep you coming back to this level time and time again. What can tobsn08 not do? His incredible eye for creating charming visuals and wonderfully laid out gameplay is second to none. This level doesn't look much like the Prince of Persia series, but it looks a heck of a lot better! Wonderful time based gameplay and the some of the very best visuals to grace the game make the player extremely satisfied. There is also a bonus for the adventurous that gives you some extra gameplay. The perfect level really.
Dimension 555zynax555/Zynax555
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/511/aphoto1.jpgIn this level you'll explore Dimension 555, which is composed of puzzles and platforming obstacles. Be wary though, for the Dimension is corrupted by a great evil that hides in the shadows.

A strange and compelling visual world for you to explore! Contrasting wood tones keep the visuals clean and modern for the majority of the level then dark erie shapes begin to invade the screen. Many unique and thought provoking puzzle platforming sections that people who enjoy a little challenge will adore. Feels very fresh for an LBP level with it's minimal style and complex challenges.
I do enjoy levels with an air of unexplained mystery to them, and this certainly fits that particular bill, but that's not to say that it isn't full of juicy gameplay! This is a fairly clean-shaven puzzle/platformer that descends wildly into darkness as an brooding evil waits to pounce... for me one of the strangest directions i've ever seen a level take! Definatly worthy of your attention, yes you...
This clean, crisp level will really get you thinking! Dimension 555 is a place of puzzles, simple yet elegant design, and mysterious turns around every corner. But if you want to discover what secrets this level has to share, get ready to jump, swing and think your way to the very end!
The Odyssey: Part II (a) and (b) - The Rise of a ChampionDuffluc/Duffluc
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d43/duffluc/APhoto_49.jpgThe tide of battle has shifted, but the Trojan war is not yet won! Explore the halls of this once great city, crush the last of Troys defenses, and write your name in the pages of history! Then, in part (b) finish the fight once and for all buy chasing down the last of the surviving Trojans, and ensuring their complete downfall!

Duffluc is just crazy good at manipulating the 3d/bakscratch glitch! You've got to see these deeply detailed backgrounds to believe them. Wonderfully rendered architecture, solid and amusing platforming and enemies, a compelling story and fantastic use of the physics engine and decorations? this level series really does have it all. So much awesome it had to be broken into two parts - don't miss either one!
What a great way for Duffluc to start his community spotlighting career, with an astounding level such as this...it's a shame I couldn't join him with a stunning level to present as well, but theres always next time Anyway, enough about me, this level...god, theres no way the first part of this series passed you guys by without recognition! Theres really not much I can put here because you guys already know what i'm gonna' say! For the few of you that have been living in cardboard boxes on pluto, things to look forward to include; Monumentally awesome use of the 3d glitch, Cunning physics based platforming and puzzles with supremely crafted characters and enemies all tied to a strong narrative. So yeah, I like this level
Tye Dye 2!Jaeyden/Jaeyden
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18457&thumb=1&d=1277350703Buuuubbllleeesss! Here it is. Tye Dye 2! In the spirit of it's predecessor, Tye Dye 2! is all about combos. It plays differently for the amount of players you have but if you play it a few times you'll start to get the strategy for the # number of players.

He's Baaaaack! After what seems like an eternity, Jaeyden's back in the spotlight with the sequel to his epic level Tye Dye. You'll be hard pressed to find another creator who's as gifted as he is in terms of building bubble combo levels that require practice, strategy and skill to master. Take the time to really figure out this beautifully made and crazily lit bubble burner and you'll fully appreciate what a master level creator Jaeyden is.
No, theres not a gas leak in you're house giving you a hallucination, the level actually looks like that! Points combo's are non-stop and multi directional, if you want that top spot then you'll be sure to go for some repeat playthroughs. Visually a little confusing at first but once you let it take you in you'll be bounding seamlessly from section to section with very little awareness of the world around you, that is until you reach the scoreboard to find out an 8 year old from Texas got over double your score!
Bouncy bubble combos galore is what this level has to offer, and boy does it ever deliver! With dazzling lighting and colours reminiscent of a Rush concert, great level design and a fantastically fun bumps and jumps, you're sure to have a blast shooting for that high score! And shoot for it you will, because be back, playing this classic over and over again!

I just about Poo'd myself when I saw I was spotlighted! And then I saw you guys made a video for it too... well, let's just say I had to go shower soon there after, haha.2010-06-27 11:12:00

Congratulations to all the spotlighted creators! I’ve played all but one of these levels (no prizes for guessing which one I haven’t played...hhmm that must have been Asbestos101 I passed when I was running off screaming (jk)! Anyway, all of them were brilliant in their own very different ways. There were some great continuations of some great series; some clever and innovative gameplay from less well known creators and some awesome visuals along the way. As Rhys152 said, it’s fantastic that creators are still producing such great levels in LBP1.

Thanks again to the Spotlight Team. Your hard work and dedication are really appreciated (88 levels!!!). Welcome to the new members of the team. I enjoyed reading your reviews.

Whats the deal with spotlighteers? You guys install a revolving door the last 6 months? Remember, the ol' ghost-knight said to, "Choose wisely...", silly old Templar, whadoesheknowanyway? Perhaps, and you heard it here first... Mogana25 consumes sack-souls to keep her thread alabastore white & eyes shinning bright... I'd be very wary Absestos and Duffuluc!

A real highlight for me in this one was the character designs in the rocket knight level. Using the thin layer for detail without making an object look too crowded is a tough skill to master.

Especially on character's faces.

In order to be eligible for spotlight consideration all you have to do is:

1. Be a member of LBPC
2. Post a thread for your level in the level showcase

That's all it takes. Play through some of the past spotligted levels and you'll get an idea of what it takes to have one featured.

This came while I was (still am) in Italy, though I played TOBSn08's Prince of Persia level before I went, so here's the poem:

Wow, this is shiny and blue
Leaves me almost without a clue
Super platforming for the win
Gives me a wide big grin
I come to the hourglass and off I am
I go down a slide, then hits the bottom (BAM)
TOBSn08 has shown what he can do
And there is more, since there comes a part 2!!!

Can't wait to come home to all these oh so tasty looking levels. I am hungry.
