Logic Pack PSP

Does anybody think that it would be possible to have something similiar to the logic pack come out for the PSP? I think that would come in handy at times.2010-06-26 00:24:00

Not quite, but close. It's more like a starter template with some pre-made logic items and other stuff that will help you make a better overall level.

A full-blown logic pack for the PSP would be great. Of course, we just need to get someone to make it.

I thought that this topic had already come up and the general consensus is that the PS3 logic pack basically applies to LBP PSP as well since we have most of the same tools.

The logic pack came out after I had already parted with my beloved PS3, so I have no idea if this is true, but if it is then you could probably just catch a video of it on YouTube, right? Or were there a bunch of items given out in the pack and that is what people liked so much?

Well, actually I watched the logic pack videos on youtube a while back. And I guess most of it pretty much applies to LBP PSP. I was just wondering if some one would come out with it for the PSP.2010-06-29 17:07:00

I say we get together, make a simple level (think Ace Creator's tuts) that showcases some of the really hardcore stuff, randomizer, etc.2010-06-29 17:10:00

I made a crazy switch not so long ago.
People seen a 3 way switch moving the direction of a moter bolt, right?
Well, I created a mechanism that can control a moterbolt using 2 2 way switches.
It works like this:
If both switches are off, the moter bolt will not move.
If one switch is on, the moter bolt will rotate clockwise.
If the other switch is on, the moter bolt will rotate counter clockwise.
If both switches are on, the moter bolt will not move.

How can we use this:
It can be used to make a windmeel that is being controlled by two wind currents.
One switch gets one direction, and the other switch gets the other direction.
And, of coarse, if both wind currents are on, the windmeel will not rotate.
If both are off, same effect.

I will use this mechanism in my upcoming level.

When I know what to do with my RED SCREEN OF DEATH PSP then I will be happy to contribute with some counting mechenisms, binary converters, how to use winches instead of wobble bolts and some other stuff.2010-06-29 18:42:00

That sounds pretty interesting!

And I would definitly like to see a level that showcases something like the randomizer on the PSP. I've seen videos of randomizers on the PS3 but I still don't fully understand how they work.

Wait are you saying you have a permanent red screen? Because it crashes your PSP then you'll have to turn it on. After that, your PSP should be back to normal, with a chance that your data is corrupt.

Can I ask you to provide it in B3's(BlueBulletBill) LBPC Ultimate Starter Kit? It would be awesome to see what you got in terms of logic. You may need to ask him quick though, he may be almost done with his final touches.

I agree. So whos going to start on the logic pack? I only know most of the simple logic stuff, and I've created a few logic switches on my PSP. Thats about all the experience I've had. I also made some sort of switch in my Color of Music level, but I'm not sure if that would be logic.

Well a good starting point would be the simple (but always useful) stuff such as always ON switches an AND switches and OR switches and the different ways of making them because their seem to be several ways of makinng basic switches. then we just get more complex towards the end and finish on a randomiser and some combinations of switches and stuff to make machines of some sort.
Who should do it however is a different question. At the moment I think that you should start eagerneph because you said you can do simple logic and then move on to someone who can do more more complex stuff until we need specialists (LBP users capable of well just about anythingin the feild of logic)l to build insanely complicated stuff
The only thing is that complex logic can take up quite a bit of thermo so their may be more than one part to the pack

Hmm, I think that your level visuals would be great for this level. I think we shouldn't include in any stickers though. It would be like Euphoric Physics - The Hidden Logic.

Hidy Ho SackLogicFolks! Thanks for the kind words :-) Logic is certainly my favorite thing about LBP, so I would be more than happy to help out.

The logic pack (on PS3) came out after I moved to China, so I never got to see it, and I can't check out videos on YouTube because YouTube is not accessible in China since the government blocks it from the country.

So, I am a bit in the dark with how the level was set up. I would be glad to help out with any sort of logic. I'm not really sure how to approach this sort of thing. If you have anything that you would like a switch to do then just ask and I will build it if I can :-) I love a challenge so feel free to toss me whatever you want.

In an earlier post someone mentioned that we could start off with AND, OR, and ON switches. I am very familiar with AND and OR switches, but I have no idea what an ON switch is. Is it a PERM switch? That's my guess, but I have never heard of it as an ON switch. I would fear that calling it an ON switch would be confusing since we already have an On/Off setting as it is. The name PERM implies what is special about it, and that is that it is on and remains on permanently.

That's all that I've got. Thanks for VMing me eagerneph. If there is ever anything else that needs my immediate attention then please don't hesitate to VM or PM me in case I miss it :-D

Sorry I did a mean to say PERM switch but I didn't know the correct name for it.
Also seeing were mentioned a while ago I did manage to build one well five actually but I can make them.
I also do not feel that we need too many stickers because euphoric physics by fullgorr so over stickered just play it and get out the sticker edit tool and you can take off 5 layers of stickers off of a single cog. This is why I think the level has so much lag.
But stickers do look nice don't they

Yeah, the stickers do look nice, but another problem might be that there are too many moving things in the level at once. And the original logic pack on the PS3 didn't have that many stickers, so they aren't really needed. I just watched a video of it on youtube.

well I currently think that a bright and basic theme so that it looks nice but not too overwhelming. that is all that i can think of now.
but while the unresponsive public stare at this page I think we should begin to make the logic stuff so that we have it and then pop it into whatever theme or style we come up with. sound good? so lets get going!

I believe the theme should be very colorful yet streamlined and simple, a lot like the Logic Pack for PS3. However, different characters and a different location than the PS3 Logic Pack would probably be a good idea. The whole copyable levels/Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced logic/Tutorials at LBPCentral/etc. should stay, though.2010-07-19 01:32:00

Just search LBPC and you'll find it.

As for going with AceCreator's cardboard look, aren't we all going for a bright and sort of colorful one?

White Plastic would look really good, but due to the Turbo! bug, we can't use it without risking corruption.

That style would be extremely boring, in my opinion. What made the Logic Pack so appealing was its unique style, fun tutorials, and user-friendly substance. Cardboard and a blank background would just be out of the question.

By the way, who exactly is the "head" of this project. And who is actually working on it. If people just start throwing levels together without any communication, I don't see how this would work out.

EDIT:
This project should be a process. This was sort of like the feedback and idea thread. A whole new thread should be created just for getting/"hiring" people to actually work on the project itself. Then a new thread should be created to trade ideas and communicate with other team members. With dedication and communication, I don't see how the Logic Pack PSP could fail.

Well I think avioding dlc would be good as i dont have any and I dont know how much the rest of you have.
beacause you cannot copy levels with dlc in unless you have that dlc.
anyway I am experimenting with materials and the red green blue combo works well as does white

I don't have DLC or Turbo, so I wouldn't risk compromising the copyable nature of the level . I'll make a tester logic pack, and maybe I could get someone to Beta test it. I'll repost when I've done it. I'm going to make it bright and use stickers and metal (No edges visible) to get the bright block colors.2010-07-27 12:37:00

I've started construction on the Begginer logic pack, The first section is done minus the speech bubbles. If anyone would like to place feedback on it, i.e. the choice of theme and how it is develeloping, now is the time to tell me as I have only just started.

The level is called LBP Central Begginer Logic Pack (V.1.00) and has the sticker I <3 LBP on it. I'd just like to know how people think it is progressing and if there are any changes it's current progress needs. I'm basing the content on the Begginer pack on PS3, I beleive that eagerneph posted the youtube video on the forums.

This version will be on the community moon from 27/07/10 to 3/08/10

I just downloaded it. The theme is great, but the first part where you drag the cube down, the switch blocks it from coming down? so? ya.2010-07-27 22:11:00

Oh, I forgot. You forgot to set the piston to backwards. So just move the perma switch so it's out of the way and set the piston to backwards.2010-07-28 17:48:00

I played the level demo level. Its was good, but it was too much of that neon pink! Maybe a nice light blue color?

And also you can use my character on page 5 or 6. Reply to this post if you want to.

Anyways good job so far.

@NightAngel he's making the Beginner Pack (even though we didnt all agree to it).

I've released LBP Central Begginer Pack (V.1.05)
It's progressed a bit, I think I'll go off on a tangent to the PS3 version, as I did base the start on it...
You may notice there's a Beta lock on the door, this is to prevent people who are not meant to see it yet out, i.e. the public. To get in use the code 2929,
I haven't come up with a character yet, but I think somebody creative could help me there. Could someone make it a prize in a level named logic character please?

Here, I'm trying to develop a "tester" level to come up with ideas and suchlike. I would never publish the full version without having a majority vote + maybe a moderator.

Could you put it on the community moon, and post the level details here when you're done?

Thanks,

Not unless they see this thread lol

Good luck with your "tester" level, though. I'll post feedback if I play it soon.

By the way, you spelled "Beginner" wrong in the level and here. And it's not very private when you tell people in the level that the code is in this thread...

And yeah, hot pink isn't so easy on the eyes...but it's a quality level so far.

Ok, so I played the version that is up there right now. And I think that it's pretty good. I like the intro and everything, but I think that all the pink is a little bit...too much i suppose? We could try using another color and keep it looking professional and whatnot. And don't forgot to place checkpoints throughout the level, cause as of now, the only checkpoint is the entrance at the beginning of the level.

Thanks for working on this man!

But there probably should be a personal thread or group to discuss and work on the project itself. Then there should be a separate public thread to take suggestions and make polls. If this project isn't organized, then I don't think it will be finished.

Yeah, NightAngel your right. If your working on the pack reply to this post and state what your helping with.

*Example* Name: Caywezy1 Helping With: Logic, Testing, and Character's.

I say we get about 3-5 people. After we get all of the people I can make a thread where we can share information. Sound good?

OK! V1.10 has been published, here is how it has progressed

- No more spoilers on the beta tester lock. It's completly secretive and no nosey people will find out
- I've figured out how to spell beginner,
- More checkpoints scattered about the level
- AND switch added
- Character added, need approval from eveybody before it stays, but in my opinion, it looks great! Thanks caywezy1
- Destroyed that blasted pink! Some is still there but with a nice soothing orange gradient
- Truck dies as you near the end of the intros

Anyway

That sounds great, lets see what people think of the current theme for the while, Publish it anyway. I like people helping out. Anyone can beta test and leave feedback, make sure you remember this code - 2929

I've created two threads with polls. These are:

(Developer) Logic Pack PSP
(Feedback) Logic Pack PSP
Find them under the suggestions forum. This is to keep everything organised and tidy. It may help me organise the feedback from what needs to be added to the level. Please read the thread guidelines and post appropiatly. Thanks for the ideas for the threads. I beleive that it is something which hadn't yet happened but really needed to be sorted out.

Okay, since you guys are well into the beg. pack and you said I could help out, I decided to start on some of the tools for the intermediate. So far I've been working on the sackboy tracker and 3-way control switch. I also have the 2 or more inputs that must be triggered and on at once to trigger one output . I'm using it at the beg. of my level as a lock. Since I don't know how to lock a level (if it's even possible on psp) I made a sticker lock in the level. To see the stuff in my level look up the name:
Logic Pack 2 v.1.1
1. Go onto level and jump behind the "r" in lbpc logo. grab [R] button at the top of your jump and you will activate and hold onto a hidden winch.
2. Grab sponge at left platform and 3 sticker switches come down to bottom of level. Put in the stickers 9 4 7.
3. The dissolve blocking you dissolves and you can see the tools I've made.
I'm having some settings problems with the tracker switch v.3 and the 3-way control switch winches. Anyone who sees them please give me the correct settings so I can fix them and work %100 proberly. Thanks in advance

Great, but It would be a good idea to repost this under the developer's Logic thread, we're trying to migrate and reorganise to make it easier.

I find the best backup in on your PSP itself...
Use the USB cable to open up the PSP files within the PSP,
Find the data and copy it to a new folder within the PSP, call it something like backup,
Copy both the install data and the save data to it,

Good thing about this, unless you format the memory stick, it should be safe from people deleting it...
