【Warning】!!! This LBP2 Beta Phishing Scam guy is getting serious

I posted here yesterday about a suspicious guy claimed to be Media__Molecule* ( * 2 _ _ in the middle)

He sent me a PSN msg about the coming lbp2 beta avalaible to be purchased soon.
We soon figured that was a total scam. Clearly, I?m not the only one receiving that msg, I thought this guy has to be stopped before more innocent child gives away their login informations. So, I did report this guy. However, this guy doesn?t seem to know when to stop. And today I received 2 more PSN msgs from him. He?s even more serious this time claiming he?s working with SONY. Here are all 3 msgs I received from him. So, guys watch out for this guy, don't let this jerk get any of us.

The 1st PSN msg I received:

'Dear PSN online user, we would like to notify you of the ?LittleBigPlanet2 Beta? that will be released shortly. If you wish to purchase this limited beta please confirm your online sign in and your password. Everything on or used in connection with our Sites, including text, images, graphics, logos, audio and video content and software (collectively, ?Content?) with the exception of User Generated Content is owned by us or our affiliates, subsidiaries, licensors or suppliers."

The 2nd PSN msg I received:

"To participate in this Beta you must confirm that you as the PSN online user are over 16. If you wish to purchase this limited Beta please confirm your email and password. If you have any queries please contact us at Riley RussellLegal & Business Affairs DepartmentSony Computer Entertainment America Inc. 919 East Hillside Blvd., 2nd FloorFoster City, CA 94404 By phone: 650-655-8000 By email: infringement@playstation.sony.com"

The 3rd PSN msg I received:

"If you wish to participate in the LittleBigPlanet2 limited beta you have 24Hours to reply. Thank you for your time. "

This guy seriously wanted to fool some innocent users. He has to be stopped.

X-NOBODY-X

BTW: I replied his message titled "My login ID ^^ "

ID: You are such a liar
Password: You have been reported

I can't thank you enough for giving me this opportunity to play Lbp2, please give me your bank information, I'll send you the money ^ ^

Yeah, it's fake.

They should never ask you for your login details whether it's Sony, or Media Molecule, or anyone else for that matter, I expect if for some weirdly strange reason they did need your login details they probably have it recorded on some super secret thing...

And this is actully something they encourage you to report to them, please, report them here (https://secure.eu.playstation.com/psn/support/grief-reporting/), immediately before some innocent child gives away there login details.

If and when a beta comes out, it will probably be announced in advance and the invitations will go out by email. You will not be required to provide your account details to anyone as you will simply need to sign into the PSN store and enter your code as though it was a DLC code.

As doopz suggests, please report this using the link above.

Are you definitely using the same email and password you use to sign into PSN on your PS3? Click Forgot Password (https://store.playstation.com/accounts/reset/beginPasswordResetFlow.action?target=login) and try that, I've had trouble before and found out I was just using an old password.

Sony or any other game developer/empoyee will never ask for your login credentials, password, credit cards, or any other personal information related to your account. And definately not via the PSN.

Note: Moved this to the Everything Else LBP2 subforum for lack of actual news/media content.

why would sony themselves need you to give your password? they already know it, so you have a very good point

Actually, the US site doesn't have the same grief reporting, it's just a "report user" thing, and it sucks. It makes you enter your email and PSNID but not your password, and it doesn't let you specify what they did or when. So it's not recognizing my email, and it's definitely the right one.

The original thread was asking if it was fake or not. So, they all have every right to "confirm" it was fake. After a while, Nobody (I mean the person Nobody) changed the thread title to avoid people getting there hopes up about this thread (As it was originally called "LBP2 Beta!" or something similar).

Phishing scams are a breach of SONY's EULA. The best we can hope for is that SONY track his PS3 via the PSN ID and disable it. That is if he is using a PS3 to do this.

Hmm I just searched on LBP @Media_ _Molecule..... He has 1 very short conspiricy level that *****es about stickers and materials that are not included in the game.

Oh oh i know what we should do, if any of us recieve this message we give him a beliveable but fake account info!
The idiot's gonna be there for a while trying to get the info right (caps lock and stuff.) XD

Like for example, if he sent it to me i'd writte something like:

"Oh cool really?
Ok!

E-Mail: Yarudark13@Hotmail.com
Pw:thedarkness13"

(^fake email/ pw )

Or somethin like that, the fool's gonna think its real and keep trying various similar (caps on/ off) convinations or try over and over.
If he replies saying that its the wrong info just give him another similar but still fake log in info and watch him keep doing it to see how many times he does it before realizing he's being tricked.

I'll do it if he send me a message at least, i mean, its gotta be funny watching a scammer being messed with no?

did anyone think that he is trying to get Tons of stuff free? have you heard of "Game Sharing" on PSN? me and my mate do it between us to save money, but you can do the same "type" of thing to steal Credit card info, you need some items like a KeyLogger to uncover the pin for the Credit card, so you can then make Forgeries to effortlessly Drain the Bank account of all Info & money, wow i sound like a bank robber i just hope nobody falls for it2010-06-27 17:41:00

Sony never punish anyone for game sharing. They've allowed it for a reason. They only punish people who phish, or gain other peoples details by questionable means.

I get people attempting to get my crown/beta costumes :/ Its funny how many people say 'I have the week one tshirt. want it' lets game share'
And I say get lost.

This is a direct quote of my personal favourite:
"hey yo can u help me get da crown im doin a competion fir mm and they said i need a crown so they could allw me"

Hope it gives someone else a chuckle

Actually I'm pretty sure that Sony doesn't allow game sharing. It's just that they haven't found a way to stop it. Maybe idk, but if I was the owner of Sony I would get really ticked off if I found out people were just sharing stuff with each other. It would mean that your loosing alot of money.2010-06-27 18:58:00

They could easily stop it, by only allowing games to be played by the user that bought them.

And while they may not 'approve' of it, they still allow it. Its just like Mm saying they won't listen to proposed dlc: they have to say it for legal reasons, but they don't actually care about it too much.

Policing something thats such a grey area would not only use alot of resources, but earn them some bad PR and give them a bad reputation. Being stringent on the legal issues as long no-ones getting hurt is in the companies interest. And its kinda an incentive if you can share a game with your friends, as you have someone to play with.

Its no worse than buying pre-owned games, because the publisher and dev team get no money that way either.

That said, I wouldn't advise talking too much about your own game-sharing habits, especially on official sony forums! (or sharing your details with anyone you don't entirely trust)

Hmmm. Your right (lol I just heard my family screaming because their team made a goal in the world cup CX), so what your saying is that it's not allowed, but they just won't do anything about it? Just frowned upon?

P.S. I'm not talking about my game sharing habits. It's just that people have asked me if they want to gameshare I say no. (<------only read if you meant that statement towards me. If you meant it in general just ignore it CX)

1# A GROUP of people doing this, how can they send so many invites in so little time

2# He/They could be Ex-Sony employes because one guy said they have un-released items on LBP

3# He/They have to be over 16 because they know the ins and outs of certain stuff
