Lag. I'm interested to know the causes of it and how to avoid it when creating stuff. I'm not talking about the online lag you get from crappy connections. I'm talking about the kind of lag you get when the game engine can't cope with stuff, even when you're alone in create mode. I've noticed two factors that seem to cause lag. Over-condensed lighting and heavily compressed objects. Don't use ALL of your thermo on an awesome, detailed background that is almost fully in view at all times. That might solve part of your issue But yes, it tends to be heavily condensed visual aspects that cause the biggest drop in framerate. Essentially, the more the engine has to render, the more likely it is to occur. Do you know if decorations are a factor, or does that principle apply more to solid objects? Am I the only one that enjoys lag?
