Archive: 58 posts

Update: valmassoi's new review for the level on page 4.

The Color of Musiceagerneph
A colorfull world full of joy and music...
In this level you will experience vivid colors and mechanical contraptions. This is the first level that I am actually proud of and the first level that will be published by me to stay on the community moon. Hope you enjoy! Feedback will be appreciated!

Feedback on the new complete version will most likely not be on the 1st page and about the first half of the second page.

And also, thank you so much for all you great people who helped me test out the current versions and older versions of my level. (You know who you are)

You asked me to check out your level and see how my point of veiw to it.
Firstly I want to say that your materials chosen and stickerwork are Top-Notch. The environment is, of coarse, colorful. The song stood straight with the landscape and the stickerwork melts thoroughly into the environment.
In other words, I loved your Creativity. As for landscape goes, your corner editing helps show the mood of the level.

The platforming and obstacles were great.

There isn't much to say since your level end short and it's still unfinished. I will tell you though, my favorite part was the slow motion switch. Those electrified blocks were fast, but you grabbed that sponge to slow down the clock and electrified blocks. I've heard of people doing this, but it's actually the first time I've seen it.

You said you had a creator's block and you wanted people in the community to finish the ending. I already mentioned in a pm and I won't go into this.

Other than that, the level is great.
Let's end this now by giving you your rating.

Length: N/A (Not finished, so I won't rate you here)
Creativity: 5/5 (I already mentioned this before, it's great!)
Corner Editing: 5/5 (You do it, and that's good enough for me)
Theme: 5/5 (I loved your mechanisms, and of coarse your terrain)
Story: N/A (Noting here)

Total: 15/15
Your a great creator, but you have to snap out the creator's block.
Maybe finishing the level too would help.
Therefore, I gave you 5 stars :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart <3
I will be looking forward to see what you build next too!

Until we meet again,
-Spark

Hey man!!

I really liked your level. It was so colorful and vibrant!! The gameplay had everything that I could want from a lbp level. I loved your launcher that was hooked up to the bolted contraption. Very cool!! I had a great time playing this, and then it ended. I was kind of sad.

I gave you five stars. I'll give you a heart if you finish it !!

Hidy Ho eagerneph! As you know, I left feedback for you long ago on a different forum, but I figured I would jump in and let people know that this is a very high quality level with some unique ideas and great gameplay. It's great to see you posting it over here at LBPC because it will help you get the level noticed by more LBPers :-D2010-06-25 05:53:00

Hi, eagerneph! I was really impressed after trying your level. You did perfect materials choose and created nice environments! It looks perfect. And level has very good flow.
It is very sad, that such great level has so little length. I gave you 5 stars for this level part and will wait for next part!

This level is a lot of fun. You do some pretty cool things with emitters, and the art-style is fun and nonsensical. The wacky fun reminds me of Euphoric Physics, and being compared to that level is HUGE praise. I might just give the level a short ending after I finish up Chomp To It.

Five stars and a heart, and a creator heart. I'm eager to see what you do next!

Hello eagerneph!!

I just played your updated version, and it was awesome. You are going to be a great creator, this I have no doubt of. I like the little tweaks you made, like the grab sponge with the bubble emitter when you get launched. And I know I said it before, but the obstacle you made with the launcher hooked to the gears is great!! The bubbles are placed in some good hiding spots too. I went ahead and hearted this for you and gave you one for creator too, beacuse like I said, you are going to be great, heck.... you already are.

Later Buddy!!

This level used an emitter skillfully.
And it was colorful.
Coolness was very fine for a device of that rubber.
I want you to be completed early.

Hiya-

I just got done playing the completed version, and I'm impressed! You've done an amazing job with this, I love the colors, and the use of sound objects was very amusing to me. I also liked how you had a few secret areas, I enjoyed trying to find them all (even if I probably didn't ). The level reminded me of Euphoric Physics by Fullgorr in some areas, but that's a good thing, because that was one of the best levels I've played. Overall, fun platforming combined with a crazy color scheme, fantastic job!

I rated the level :star::star::star::star::star: and <3ed.

Hey there Eagerneph,

The completed version was just as good as the rest, wait, it's even better since it's complete!
You did a great job with the bright colored materials mish mashing into the level to really bring it out.
Awesome sticker work too! I saw there were some VJ and Sha-ja aspects to the level, and also some of Spark's Journey environment as well.
Anyways nicely done! I had a blast trying to find the bubble blasters, and other hidden bubbles. You got yourself :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3. You are already on my hearted creators list, so no worries about that.

EagerNeph, this is one of my favorite levels I've played.
I'm really happy to see that you didn't give the level away as copyable. Also, no one got the chance to copy it; therefore, no one stole the credit of this beautiful level. The level is very colorful, and I hearted the level before I played it. I just knew it would be good, and it was.

When I first started the level, I was deeply impressed. I noticed how the stickers on the front thin layer also melted to the layer behind it. It makes it look like one sticker, but it's really 2 stickers. I'm sure most of your thermometer came from a lot of stickers implemented, or at least I think it did. That's why my level "R.I.P Sack" took a lot of thermometer. The materials also helped making the colors feel alive. It was a very awesome and successful level. The song blends into the level and gives the level a relaxed feeling. Jumping over those fiery gaps and bam, a music note. I liked it a lot.

I liked your sticker work. It didn't seem you were aiming at very detailed stickerwork, but more as of artistic stickerwork. There were so many hidden scorebubbles. I found them all too. Since the place was fun exploring, it ave this level a good vibe to it.
Also, one of my favorite rooms, like I mentioned already, was the clock room. Those electrified obstacles went super fast. Then I saw the clock and everything started slowing down. My mouth honestly dropped and wowed me. Those stickers on the background help present a theme too. It was wonderful, and I deeply liked those emitted arrows. It flows through with correct timing and it was awesome.

The room that turns upside down creating a new path was great. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to see that. This level just keeps getting better and better. I liked how you hooked some checkpoints on thin layer being hung by a winch. Very creative, I thought. You also managed to seperate the two layers by glass. I also liked the themed newspaper type of style. It amused me. Then I also noticed you used ali's LBP logo. It really fitted well here. Then those emitted rainbows. Flung out of nowhere to an uppside down scoreboard. Nice effect, and very great level. One of the best. You got a creator heart from me.

Anyways, I'll go on and rate you.

Length: 5/5 (Very decent length and it was so fun I played it 3 times)
Material Work: 5/5 (This level has a lot of color and some of it comes from materials)
Sticker Work: 5/5 (This is what made this level artistic and color blended to materials)
Corner Editing: 5/5 (The structure was plain and the thin layer on front went along perfect)
Terrain/Mechanics: 5/5 (Very solid lanscape and I enjoyed seeing the mechanisms at work)
Story: N/A (None really implemented)

Total: 25/25 Perfect Score!!

This level is one of the best. You are a great creator.
I would love to see more levels coming from you.
Anyways, 5 stars :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart. <3

Hopefully we see eac other again,
-Spark

Yo Eagerneph
Man, great to finally see the final product with a true ending. That is, an ending made by you the creator, haha. The level is really nice, with some fun platforming throughout, and I really love the look of it. It's just so....colorful and happy! You did a great job finishing up the level with some fun and varied obstacles. I love the animated arrows pointing the direction, I've never seen that done before that way. I hearted it, and rated 5 star for uniqueness. Congrats on being sotlighted , even though it was the unfinished version, but people will be in for a treat when they load it up, and its the finished version, lol.

Say, I just noticed you're from H town. I'm from Dallas. We Texas folk are gonne take over this LBP thang, better watch out!

I have been waiting for some time to play this. I remember when you first posted this level ( on another forum, I think the workshop), I decided not to play until it was finished. I had a blast with this one! It is great, everything is perfect and ultra fun. As many others have said it reminds me of euphoric physics! Both levels are amazing and have to be some of the best. Your level has amazing mechanics/platforming/looks. I couldn't find a negative thing if I tried. I really hope that you continue to produce levels as amazing as this one.

Hidy Ho eagerneph! Man, this has been a long time coming. I remember back on LBW when you posted this level and gave you feedback. I begged you to finish the level instead of leaving it as a "finish-it-yourself" style level because it was soo good and I wanted to see how YOU would finish it.

Well, I'm glad that you finally did because it is really good! The level has an awesome crazy art style, the platforming is awesome, and there is a bunch of quirky stuff that really makes it stand out.

The ending section which I had not played yet is really good and it fits perfectly into the level. The section of the level that rotates was awesome, and I don't know if I have seen anything like that since upsidedown town (and this level is much, much better than that one!).

Incredible job :-) I am so happy that you finished this!!!

Hi eagerneph, while easy levels are usually not my thing and being walked through them even less so, you did it with such style and charm I could help but like this level. Everything comes together so well. I've seen many levels try to pull off this look and fail. You however nailed it. My favorite thing is the part where you have the jumping platform connected to the two gears with elastic. Its such a cool little funky contraption.

Great job 5stars and a heart!

Hey eager!

This is a great little level you have here - even better now that it has a scoreboard at the end of it.

As with the feedback I left you before, I love the colorful and abstract style you used throughout the level. The obstacles flow very nicely from one area to another in a VJ-like way, which is a very good thing. The part of the level that turns upside down is genius and well implemented, and of course you just keep the color and the fun vibe sustained through the entire experience. Great use of ali985's LBP logo too.

It can be very difficult coming up with new and unique gameplay elements, but I thought you did a very good job overall. It's nearly impossible to invent something totally new and fresh, so the answer to the riddle really is just to take something familiar and put your own twist on it. The end of the level is very satisfying but of course left me wanting more, so I'm really looking forward to your next creation. I don't know what your create style is like and/or how much you like to plan out your levels, but keeping a notebook handy for ideas can be very useful.

Great stuff and congratulations on finishing up the level! I gave you 5 stars, a heart, and a creator heart. Thanks for the outstanding experience!

The Color of Music
Score: 9.8/10
By: Eagerneph

What a great level! Very vivid. Your description: A colorful world full of joy and music... really describes the level.

Story: N/A/10
No story, just amazing platforming, cool with me!

Music/SFX Choice: 10/10
Music is perfect for this level, being a piano player, I think the music really defines the level. Your SFX usage was amazing, and they're put in the perfect places.

Appearance: 10/10
Wow. Eye-popping color everywhere. When you say The Color of Music, you really mean color! Stickers were also great, as they added a lot of detail. All the material looks great together, especially the newspaper, I'm glad to see someone fit that awesome material in a level! Beautiful corner editing in both layers adds a lot, including secret bubble spots. This reminds me a lot of that dream level (I'm not sure if you know what I'm talking about )

Creatures/Objects: 10/10
No creatures, but your objects are awesome. I really liked the object (machine) that ran on gears to make you fly up, that was really cool.

Gameplay: 9.2/10
Really fun. Everything seems to original, I haven't seen any of it anywhere else. My favorite part in the whole level was when you grab the box to slow down the clock and then those pillars slow down, that was real cool! Lots of bubble chains to keep things interesting.

Overall: 9.8 (not an average)
Phenomenal. There's not much you could add or fix when I think about it, the level is perfect length and I felt satisfied when I finished it. It's kinda funny but this level reminds me of the Introduction on story mode. It's no wonder this level is spotlighted. I easily chose :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3.

Thanks for the great review valmoassoi!

Played the level and I got to say it rocks! The visuals were great. Some interesting gameplay elements, though I have to say they did not exactly fit in, it was more of a mosh up of different stuff. Though I did laugh at the "A slow and careful sack is a happy sack"

Awesome work!!! 5 :star: and <3

Man, when I dove into this level, I simply smiled at the eye candy within the first three seconds. The bright colors and sticker variety just oozed cheery happiness and other feelings Im too lazy to put here! When I feel down and gloomy, I'll play your level to put a smile on my face !

Wow! Thanks man! That's pretty darn encouraging right there!

I don't think i've posted here yet, but eitherway loved the level and rated 5 stars and a heart. No time to review right now and it was a little ago when I first played, so I will play again and hopefully write a proper review.
