Emitter troubles.
Archive: 7 posts
I've been working on my level for at least two months now, I feel like I can finally see the finish line but I keep running into this snag. Anytime I put down an emitter and turn off the PS3, the emitter disappears the next time I enter create mode. I've tested it five times now, it always happens. I figured this may be associated with me using the emitter trick to cheat the thermo. I might just be imagining things though since other objects with emitters seem to be working, but anytime I put a new emitter up, its gone. Any help would be much appreciated. | 2010-06-24 18:44:00 Author: ArcFire43 Posts: 11 |
I figured this may be associated with me using the emitter trick to cheat the thermo. I might just be imagining things though since other objects with emitters seem to be working, but anytime I put a new emitter up, its gone. I've never had an object just disappear in this way, but I have had objects fail to render. Is it possible that it's still there, but just not being drawn? | 2010-06-24 18:52:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
No, its gone completely, I tried activating it and it just doesn't seem to work. If I can't figure it out I'll just try moving the level into another space and see if its just a glitch. | 2010-06-24 19:08:00 Author: ArcFire43 Posts: 11 |
Do you save and exit create mode before turning off the system? I remember reading somewhere that it's possible to lose data if you don't first exit to the pod before turning off the system. | 2010-06-24 19:47:00 Author: cgCody Posts: 16 |

That's exactly what i was going to say. You gotta go to your pod first and save changes. | 2010-06-24 20:16:00 Author: Shhabbazz Posts: 746 |
Yes, I do. Because the changes I made when I first did the Emitters are there, or I think so anyway. I'll try doing what you said and see if that resolves the problem. | 2010-06-24 20:38:00 Author: ArcFire43 Posts: 11 |
Anothing thing to try: AFTER placing and configuring the emitter, add a block of dark matter somewhere. Then try again and see if only the emitter disappears or if they both do. If they both disappear, then you've got a problem with it not saving. If only the emitter disappears, then you've got some kind of bug and you may want to put the emitter somewhere else. | 2010-06-24 20:46:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
