Hey guys, I'm a bit of a newbie here, as well as when it comes to making LBP levels. Nice to meet you

I just published this level a few moments ago, it's my second (first if you don't count a music level) and I would really appreciate some feedback on what works and what needs work in this level, where it's too hard, too boring, too ugly, etc. I've tried something a little different by giving a complete backstory to the level at the end, and I'm still not sure if it's such a good idea, lol. Again, I'd be very grateful for some feedback.

Also, I've hidden four prize bubbles with my objects throughout the level, but they don't seem to do anything other than give me points when I play test it. Is that normal? If you decide to play this level, please drop me a note on whether or not the prize bubbles worked (that is, if you can find them)

For a noobie I would say your level is pretty good. You had some good gameplay ideas and some of them were tricky.

What you can do to improve is to make the level a little brighter as it was too dark to see what you needed to grab. The tricky parts could use some clues--I had some trouble figuring out what to do. I didn't get the "ah-ha" feeling.

Anyway, good job.

Thanks for that, antman! I didn't notice the gamma setting on my profile was turned all the way up, so thanks for pointing that out. I've turned the overall brightness up on the level a bit, as well as illuminate the switch to control the elevator and change a frustrating section near the end to make it clearer where to go next.

right now, the most popular tag is "frustrating", lol. I'd find the frustrating parts myself, but I'm kind of jaded from playing the level through so many times. If you're planning on playing this level sometime, I'd really appreciate some feedback on the parts that were frustrating to you so I can improve them.

Checked it out tonight and yea, too dark. I like the green accented water areas. Those are nice. And some of the mechanics are cool, like the bridges you have to jump and pull the lever to get where you need them. The caverns look nicely shaped but it's hard to tell in the dark.

For a first level it's really not bad at all. 4 stars.

thanks, Morgana! Still too dark? I've raised the lighting some more; I'm trying to find a balance between making the level bright enough to be visible and dark enough to retain a cavelike atmosphere.

Also, I've added some screenshots in the opening post

It's a smidge dark in parts (near the end as you walk towards the storeroom in particular, though there's nothing there to oppose you really, it's just kinda hard to see what's in front of you), but it's never too hindering. Some of that looked like it would be outright impossible, but never really reached that point, which is a good thing I suppose. Challenging but not too absurdly so, and a good variety of tasks from basic platforming to grabs to using mechanics in some pretty fun ways.

I rather liked it. : ) Much better than some of the junk I've been playing on LBP lately. : | The effort put into it shows, and is very much appreciated. : )
