Toy Story 3

Archive: 47 posts

First movie I've ever seen in 3D actually, just because it was more convenient to see the 3D one.

Fortunately, 3D was subtle and enhanced the movie. And the movie was fantastic. The final scene.. I was very close to tears. Probably a lot of that is nostalgia but ssshhh. A very good end to a trilogy. I actually didn't think Pixar would pull off the perfect second sequel.

I want to play with toys now.

I loved it. I didn't even see the second one, but it didn't matter. It was masterfully done. And yes, I almost cried at the end, too, and I never cry at movies.2010-06-20 20:40:00

Oh god I said I'd go to see this with a couple of my friends. I am the type to cry like a baby at TV and Film(usually when no one is around though ) so I'm in danger of embarrassing myself here! Hah still looks cool, be sure to see it in 3D as well.

Seems it's not out till July here

I watched it recently. I swear this would be another terrible sequel, but WOW! I was truly amazed! I was also nearing tears, and I never cry in movies! I just didn't like how it seemed to go on, and on, and on, but it didn't bother me much. But still, WOW!2010-06-22 19:28:00

when I saw rugrats the movie I cried, I got all emotional when Tommy was going to pour peanut-butter on Dill.
Also Marley & Me made me cry, Because Marley reminded me of my dog Roly and I was sad when Marley died.

You all sound so surprised... We are talking Pixar here! A record setting one of a kind Movie Studio... One of the few studios in history to make a sequel (argueably) better than the original! So, now they've done it twice! Oh and if it was me... i'd just go ahead and let it out--cryings fine.2010-06-22 21:21:00

Just watched it, and gotta admit, the ending kinda put a knot in my throat, well done Pixar, not many movies manage that anymore!

Still, i hope this IS the end of the TS movies, it was a great ending, and making any more would just be milking it, and you know how bad movies/ games/ most stuff get when they milk them for all they have. :/
So just let it end with good terms.

Saw it last night. Had a good time, thought it was quite good, really funny in parts. "Big Baby" was hilariously creepy. I was the ONLY PERSON howling with laughter in the scene where the clown toy is sitting on the windowsill looking out into the night.

My god, they really pushed things farther and farther and farther in this movie. It had a bit of Indiana Jones in how you keep feeling, "well that's it. there's no way out of this scenario. what kind of ridiculous thing is going to save them at the last second here? ...oh... nothing... okay well now it's REALLY impossible to get out of, and something INCREDIBLY ridiculous is going to have to come up to save them... oh? nothing? ...okay... well...." and on.

Also, on the movie's disturbing content:
Was anyone weirdly disturbed by the "fire" scene, or as I call it the "toy holocaust"? It was a gas chamber scene! The close friends all know they're going to die, and there's nothing they can do to stop it. They hold hands and await their inevitable demise. What the hell! Of course it's all in the name of suspense here, but this seemed going pretty far, the whole thing just brought up holocaust imagery to me. And then, just like the real holocaust, a giant claw comes in from the sky and saves them at the last second.

And not to mention that they go far enough to imagine things like toys at the dump, toys that are abandoned or lost and become damaged goods, toys that are buried in landfills - but never showing you exactly what happens at the logical conclusion - never do you see a toy "die". What happens? Does a toy, buried in a landfill, suffocate to death? Does his agony release him from his earthly bonds, does his toy soul dissipate? Alone, stuck, half-buried amongst rotting garbage, does a toy's emotional turmoil force him to give up on life and simply pass away? I mean, what the hell! The movie goes so far as to imagine HELL ON EARTH for toys, in many different forms, leaving us to imagine the worst for ourselves. They're brave enough to take it to really dark places, but we're left to imagine the agony that awaits most toys at the end of their lives. I couldn't help but feel at the heartfelt and happy conclusion, that this was really a pessimistic vision - because we know that this loving ending is the exception, not the rule - it's not what awaits MOST toys when they're all used up. I can just imagine Richard Attenborough's "The Secret Life of Toys", chronicling the dark, violent lives that toys lead in their most extreme conditions.

"Here, is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. There were over 400 varieties, but this one, is among the most rare. He can transform, from a bipedal to a 4-legged turtle, his unused parts folded up inside his shell. This one, however, is missing two legs, and the humanoid head has been chewed off, perhaps in some previous brawl. He lives here, at the county dump, home to over 3 thousand discarded toys. Some of them have formed violent gangs - others wander alone in search of companionship, and others still wander alone in hiding, hermits amongst the sea of waste."

Which also leads me to this: Cormac McCarthy's Toy Story (http://www.villagevoice.com/2007-07-17/news/cormac-mccarthy-does-toy-story-3/). A hilariously dark scenario to be sure, but one that perhaps is happening right now, somewhere else in the world, and that would shockingly fit perfectly with the vision of the world imagined in Toy Story 3.

Aw, take it easy on Lotso. He's damaged goods. He was a huggable loveable teddy bear until his heart broke and his mind cracked. Clearly he snapped beyond repair. Maybe he should be put out of his misery. But it looks like instead, his misery will be prolonged indeed...2010-06-25 06:34:00

Bit scared to see this due to the fact Toy Story 1 was my favourite childhood animated movie, not sure if it can live up to my expectations. I'll just wait till it is out on DVD. 2010-07-09 16:14:00

It will most certainly live up to your expectations... to infinity and beyond!

There is no way you could watch this movie and be dissappointed.

I had tears in my eyes in the
incinerator scene <- SPOILER: Highlight to reveal.
And I had a huge knot in my throat at the end.
Such an emotional film.

I, too, laughed so much when we saw Totoro, one of my other favourite films.

Did anyone else see/hear Boo (from Monsters Inc) as a toddler in the Butterfly room? She was the girl with the long black hair with the pink hairband.

She is the girl in the bottom right of this picture (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/images/zz61eaddcc.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/04/23/who-is-directing-monsters-inc-2-and-what-is-pete-docters-mystery-project/&usg=__alK2Xo_ehvqHwtsJpVIbo0IirWE=&h=1075&w=1912&sz=645&hl=en&start=3&sig2=5GFjrnS0ojSZd9Oizx2I-A&tbnid=kbYibodzvBGJuM:&tbnh=84&tbnw=150&ei=-TlRTIb3AZTGsAbU9ujFAQ&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dboo%2Btoy%2Bstory%2B3%26hl%3Den%26biw %3D1463%26bih%3D713%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1)
She's holding a blue 'kitty' (representing Sulley, since he was blue and she called him 'Kitty' and a sunflower with legs (representing Mike)

Anyone else spot any easter eggs in it?

A113 is an easter egg Pixar use a lot. Pixar also put characters from their upcoming films in their films. I think a James Bond-esque car was on a poster in Andy's room. It's in the future Cars 2 film.2010-07-29 09:30:00

Amazing. All I can say.

Just shows Pixar can handle sequels... ya hear that Dreamworks! (except for Shrek 2, I'll give you credit for that)

Cars 2, Monsters Inc 2, a possible Toy Story 4, Pixar is looking good.

I don't think their will be a Toy Story 4. Maybe a short spin-off sequel where we get to delve a bit deeper with some of the new toys. Or maybe an episodic series!2010-07-30 23:01:00

The memories, I remember watching Toy Story when I was 4 in the cinema. And now I'm 16 and the main character 'Andy' is 17 in Toy Story 3.

I feel the need to apoligise to my toys.

@talbot Me too. It was completely filled of teenagers and young adults. I didn't see a single kid. And after we were coming out the room, there were loads of teenagers (school had just broken up for state schools) queueing outisde..
.. The next screening was in an hour.
