New LBP2 Font?

Archive: 62 posts

Does anyone know where to get the new LBP2 font from/what it's called? I've got a firefox add-on that's telling me it's called ""BlimeyPhatSemiBold", but when I search the internets for it there's nothing to be found. Is it a custom font Mm have created perhaps? You can see the font being used in a few places, such as:

At :http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/2/ http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4015/4712720446_d170d21a36_b.jpg

On the in-game start menu (seen at 2:00) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDexx9bDblU

So yeh, anyone have a clue where to find this funky typeface!?!

I'm sure I saw it used on G.O.L.D (a UK tv channel, formally UKTVGold). Anyone else understanding me here?

If someone fairly close to Mm wishes to ask them feel free!

No problem LM

But yeah, as you said, if someone close to Mm could ask them what's the exact font, it would be cool

Oh I also saw the Mrs Strange one, but the one I gave previously (Kohicle 25) is more close to MM one I think

Here's the one you found dajdaj compared to the actual font:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4031/4712266677_26224d3c57_b.jpg

(The bottom image was made entirely from scratch, the top was just part of the screen I took of lbp2.com) The bottom type is slightly bolder and has [small] differing details but they don't look to different.

Does anyone have a .pdf of a press release or something with it on it? I could use my software at work to list the font names.

Wow, you can do that!?! I'll have a look around.

Morgana can your program at work scan websites? I tried searching google for pdf's but just found ones with boring old Arial-ish fonts. I found this too... http://www.lbpcentral.com/images/LBPmanual.pdf

But yeh, if you could do websites then the text at the bottom of the lbp2 website (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/2/) is highlight-able.

There isn't one, I searched for ages and alas I found nothing. But....

I used a tool called: WebEdit (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/knkafdhggfbbpbdojbegpokhiiclpnml?hl=en-gb) for Chrome.

It allows you to edit things on the web on the fly, and so I edited the text on the page and typed in the alphabet. It'd also be possible to change the colour of the text and background using another Chrome extension to edit the CSS.

One screenshot later that picture. Hope this helps.

I also tried downloading the font directly from the CSS but it corrupts or something and can't be read.

Tom would you kindly supply a means of getting the font, sil vous plait.

I went into the CSS files and found this, the only font they needed to import using "@font-face".

@font-face {
font-family: 'BlimeyPhatSemiBold';
src: url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.eot'
src: local('☺&apos, url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.woff&apos format('woff&apos, url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.ttf&apos format('truetype&apos, url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.svg#webfont&apos format('svg'
font-weight: normal;
font-style: normal;

You have to assume the font is you're looking for is called BlimeyPhat, but just to be sure it wasn't another font on the page, I checked the same CSS file and found information which told me it's used in the "downloadlinks" ID.

#downloadlinks p {
margin: auto;
font-family: "BlimeyPhatSemiBold", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: 24px;

When backing up into the HTML file and searching for "downloadlinks", I found where on the page it was. Sure enough, BlimeyPhat is the font used as it is the font targeted at the links below the video.

<div id="downloadlinks">
< href="http://e1.dl.playstation.net/e1/campaignsite/littlebigplanet.com/lbp-announcement-trailer-pegi-HD720.mp4">Watch in HD 720p</a> < href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs0T5l24JL0">Watch on YouTube</a> < href="http://e1.dl.playstation.net/e1/campaignsite/littlebigplanet.com/lbp-announcement-trailer-pegi-psp.mp4">Download for PSP</a> < href="http://e1.dl.playstation.net/e1/campaignsite/littlebigplanet.com/lbp-announcement-trailer-pegi-mobile.m4v">Stream to mobile</a>

I had that one a while back, Tried to giv it away on LBPC but the thread was later locked because the font was copyrighted. Almost was banded the week I signed up. All I can say though is that its called "Omnes".
EDIT: It seems LM has beaten me to the punch. Dang!

BlimeyPhatSemiBold seems a nod at the fact that the font is neither fat (phat) or semi-bold. Tom's humour goes through out the website's files in annotations and notes so it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case.

Just look at this from the source of the LBP2 site:

< ! -- Like a mother-in-law you've never gotten on with, you simply have to bite your tongue and be nice to Internet Explorer. -- >

MM hide that type of humor pretty much wherever they go.

Fixes:

* General fixes, polishing and improvements.

* Fixed “Wheel of death” bug where Sackboy could get stuck endlessly respawning out of a checkpoint.

* Fixed stretch Sackboy arms.

* General server improvements and optimisation.

* Fixed lights so they don’t forget their colour.

* If anything I can say this cab is rare.

* Improved Online multiplayer level selection.

* And I yelled to the cabbie ‘Yo homes smell ya later’

* I looked at my kingdom,

* was finally there,

* To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air…

* Fixed material properties glitch.

What's the addon in FireFox that tells you font names? That would be awesome for me (I have like 1000+ fonts).

I just spoke with Tom, and it is a custom-made font. Mystery solved.

He also provided a link to a similar font, which I don't believe has come up yet: Men in Black Credits (http://www.dafont.com/men-in-black-credits.font)

Here's how it compares:

Really? How did you manage to get their custom font?

And by the way, you cannot put a copyright on a font or typeface; there's no law that allows it.

There's one problem with the renamed version (first version is just a textedit document for me), is that the A is weird. The cross line has reversed colors, so the line is white on the black, and black on the white. Is that fixable?2010-07-09 17:20:00
