New LBP2 Font?
Archive: 62 posts
Does anyone know where to get the new LBP2 font from/what it's called? I've got a firefox add-on that's telling me it's called ""BlimeyPhatSemiBold", but when I search the internets for it there's nothing to be found. Is it a custom font Mm have created perhaps? You can see the font being used in a few places, such as: At :http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/2/ http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4015/4712720446_d170d21a36_b.jpg On the in-game start menu (seen at 2:00) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDexx9bDblU So yeh, anyone have a clue where to find this funky typeface!?! | 2010-06-18 21:20:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
I have absolutely no idea, but what a brilliant name for a font eh. | 2010-06-18 21:24:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
Its called "Font a la Molecule" or "The Mm specialty" No but seriously, i haven't seen this kind of font anywhere that i can remember so i can't really tell you. | 2010-06-18 21:30:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I'm sure I saw it used on G.O.L.D (a UK tv channel, formally UKTVGold). Anyone else understanding me here? If someone fairly close to Mm wishes to ask them feel free! | 2010-06-18 21:31:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
Ive never seen the font used on gold, but then again I dont pay atention. | 2010-06-18 21:34:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
Well pay attention! They use like 10 different fonts though, so look closely. | 2010-06-18 21:36:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
I also searched for it, but didn't find it.... I only found this free one which looks a little similar, but it's not the good one http://www.dafont.com/fr/font.php?file=kohicle25&page=1&nb_ppp_old=50&text=TO+SEE+WHAT+YOU+DO&nb_ppp=50&psize=m&classt=alpha | 2010-06-18 22:02:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |

No problem LM But yeah, as you said, if someone close to Mm could ask them what's the exact font, it would be cool Oh I also saw the Mrs Strange one, but the one I gave previously (Kohicle 25) is more close to MM one I think | 2010-06-18 22:26:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
look at the o ont the mrs strage one its a fair bit off. | 2010-06-18 22:28:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
Does anyone have a .pdf of a press release or something with it on it? I could use my software at work to list the font names. | 2010-06-18 22:28:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
if anyone can find software to convert a eot file to a ttf I might have the exact font if you look through the css coding you can see links to the font on their servers but the ttf file isnt a ttf for comps. | 2010-06-18 22:33:00 Author: fodawim Posts: 363 |
Here's the one you found dajdaj compared to the actual font: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4031/4712266677_26224d3c57_b.jpg (The bottom image was made entirely from scratch, the top was just part of the screen I took of lbp2.com) The bottom type is slightly bolder and has [small] differing details but they don't look to different. Does anyone have a .pdf of a press release or something with it on it? I could use my software at work to list the font names. Wow, you can do that!?! I'll have a look around. | 2010-06-18 22:44:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
Nice work Looks pretty good. | 2010-06-18 22:46:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Morgana can your program at work scan websites? I tried searching google for pdf's but just found ones with boring old Arial-ish fonts. I found this too... http://www.lbpcentral.com/images/LBPmanual.pdf But yeh, if you could do websites then the text at the bottom of the lbp2 website (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-gb/2/) is highlight-able. | 2010-06-18 22:55:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
Guess who got the alphabets!? | 2010-06-19 18:17:00 Author: Zac Posts: 165 |
Hey cool! This is the good one Where did you find this? Is there a downlodable font file somewhere? | 2010-06-19 18:23:00 Author: dajdaj03 Posts: 1486 |
There isn't one, I searched for ages and alas I found nothing. But.... I used a tool called: WebEdit (https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/knkafdhggfbbpbdojbegpokhiiclpnml?hl=en-gb) for Chrome. It allows you to edit things on the web on the fly, and so I edited the text on the page and typed in the alphabet. It'd also be possible to change the colour of the text and background using another Chrome extension to edit the CSS. One screenshot later that picture. Hope this helps. I also tried downloading the font directly from the CSS but it corrupts or something and can't be read. Tom would you kindly supply a means of getting the font, sil vous plait. | 2010-06-19 18:49:00 Author: Zac Posts: 165 |
I went into the CSS files and found this, the only font they needed to import using "@font-face". @font-face { font-family: 'BlimeyPhatSemiBold'; src: url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.eot' src: local('☺&apos, url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.woff&apos format('woff&apos, url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.ttf&apos format('truetype&apos, url('/images/assets/shared/announce/fonts/blimeyphat-webfont.svg#webfont&apos format('svg' font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; You have to assume the font is you're looking for is called BlimeyPhat, but just to be sure it wasn't another font on the page, I checked the same CSS file and found information which told me it's used in the "downloadlinks" ID. #downloadlinks p { margin: auto; font-family: "BlimeyPhatSemiBold", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 24px; When backing up into the HTML file and searching for "downloadlinks", I found where on the page it was. Sure enough, BlimeyPhat is the font used as it is the font targeted at the links below the video. <div id="downloadlinks"> < href="http://e1.dl.playstation.net/e1/campaignsite/littlebigplanet.com/lbp-announcement-trailer-pegi-HD720.mp4">Watch in HD 720p</a> < href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs0T5l24JL0">Watch on YouTube</a> < href="http://e1.dl.playstation.net/e1/campaignsite/littlebigplanet.com/lbp-announcement-trailer-pegi-psp.mp4">Download for PSP</a> < href="http://e1.dl.playstation.net/e1/campaignsite/littlebigplanet.com/lbp-announcement-trailer-pegi-mobile.m4v">Stream to mobile</a> | 2010-06-19 21:26:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |
Wow, thanks Killian - this has turned into a proper investigation thingy ma-bob! XD So I think we have to assume Mm created the font and just use the one dajdaj found if we want to mimic it. Thanks all! | 2010-06-19 21:34:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
I like the font too. And whats the really bold and blue one's name? | 2010-06-19 22:32:00 Author: Chump Posts: 1712 |
That font reminds me of the movie adaptation for 'Where the wild things are' | 2010-06-19 22:43:00 Author: tomodon246 Posts: 624 |
I think they're also using it for the category titles in the new Pop-it. I hope they don't; it looks rather strange. | 2010-06-20 00:08:00 Author: estevangz Posts: 57 |
I like the font too. And whats the really bold and blue one's name? That one is called "Omnes", that was easy to find that one. Omnomnomnomnomnes. | 2010-06-20 19:04:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
hows this? http://cdn.myfonts.net/s/aw/720x360/81/0/41896.png http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/canadatype/firefly/ | 2010-06-20 19:58:00 Author: flamingemu Posts: 1872 |
So I think we have to assume Mm created the font... Ehrrmm... I kinda saw it on the packaging for an M&S Sandwich... Oh well! At least we now know two companies that use it! Media Molecule and Marks & Spencer. | 2010-06-20 20:06:00 Author: FlipMeister Posts: 631 |
I like the font too. And whats the really bold and blue one's name? I had that one a while back, Tried to giv it away on LBPC but the thread was later locked because the font was copyrighted. Almost was banded the week I signed up. All I can say though is that its called "Omnes". EDIT: It seems LM has beaten me to the punch. Dang! | 2010-06-20 20:22:00 Author: acdramon Posts: 332 |
BlimeyPhatSemiBold seems a nod at the fact that the font is neither fat (phat) or semi-bold. Tom's humour goes through out the website's files in annotations and notes so it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case. Just look at this from the source of the LBP2 site: < ! -- Like a mother-in-law you've never gotten on with, you simply have to bite your tongue and be nice to Internet Explorer. -- > | 2010-06-20 21:53:00 Author: Zac Posts: 165 |
MM hide that type of humor pretty much wherever they go. Fixes: * General fixes, polishing and improvements. * Fixed “Wheel of death” bug where Sackboy could get stuck endlessly respawning out of a checkpoint. * Fixed stretch Sackboy arms. * General server improvements and optimisation. * Fixed lights so they don’t forget their colour. * If anything I can say this cab is rare. * Improved Online multiplayer level selection. * And I yelled to the cabbie ‘Yo homes smell ya later’ * I looked at my kingdom, * was finally there, * To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air… * Fixed material properties glitch. | 2010-06-20 22:28:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Haha I remember reading that when they posted that, I love it. | 2010-06-20 22:59:00 Author: Zac Posts: 165 |
Hmm, I may have seen it before... But I can't put my finger on it... | 2010-06-21 05:10:00 Author: Tmjtk Posts: 258 |
Hmm, I may have seen it before... But I can't put my finger on it... I tried to put my finger on it but then I got finger smudges on the screen. | 2010-06-21 18:52:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
I looked for it for AGES! Never found it though. What's the addon in FireFox that tells you font names? That would be awesome for me (I have like 1000+ fonts). | 2010-06-25 01:00:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
I just spoke with Tom, and it is a custom-made font. Mystery solved. He also provided a link to a similar font, which I don't believe has come up yet: Men in Black Credits (http://www.dafont.com/men-in-black-credits.font) Here's how it compares: http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/2019/mibcredits.png | 2010-06-25 16:06:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |

In non-capitals, I'd say the font looks exactly like Akbar. It's a nice font. | 2010-07-03 17:21:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |

I got their font... Not shure if i can share... I think its copyrighted... Really? How did you manage to get their custom font? And by the way, you cannot put a copyright on a font or typeface; there's no law that allows it. | 2010-07-04 17:26:00 Author: Night Angel Posts: 1214 |
He can't tell us, it's copyrighted!!! Lol, I don't think he does have it... | 2010-07-04 17:30:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |

He can't tell us, it's copyrighted!!! Lol, I don't think he does have it... In all fairness I thought it too, but the last time I told someone on the forum I thought they were lying I got in a huge argument. | 2010-07-04 17:50:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
Here it is for u all who want it! http://www.4shared.com/file/XyQ4NBa1/webfont.html Edit: Two things: SVG and font converter... | 2010-07-04 20:29:00 Author: Gui_Rike Posts: 184 |
I'm not sure if I should download that or not! At least you've explained yourself now, sorry for doubting you ...I think? | 2010-07-04 20:52:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |

Nice work, Gui_Rike! Good idea. I wish you'd named it LBP2 or something though - webfont seems weird xD | 2010-07-04 21:24:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |

What do you think? http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/469/wecantwait.png - I wish I could get the top font though. I used Akbar in this. | 2010-07-04 21:55:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
Looks good! I thought the top font was just the lower case of the font we've been looking for? | 2010-07-04 22:02:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
Doesn't seem that way. The lowercase version of this one is all squiggly and not right. | 2010-07-04 22:04:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
So it's safe to download then? | 2010-07-04 22:05:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
So it's safe to download then? Yup. Enjoy. | 2010-07-04 22:06:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
Im gonna try to rename it and reupload EDIT:Renamed version (http://www.mediafire.com/?vytmwytezqy) | 2010-07-04 22:14:00 Author: Gui_Rike Posts: 184 |
There's one problem with the renamed version (first version is just a textedit document for me), is that the A is weird. The cross line has reversed colors, so the line is white on the black, and black on the white. Is that fixable? | 2010-07-09 17:20:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
