Sack of Persia and the Sands of Time TOBSn08 http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_8-2.jpgIt says the one who finds the giant hourglass in the Sultan's temple gets the power to control time. So what are you waiting for... Sack of Persia and the Sands of Time by TOBSn08 http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_9-2.jpg http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_14-1.jpg "After making the mistake of your life you are searching for a way to make it undone. Rumors say that there is a giant hourglass inside the Sultan's temple which contains the sands of time. And the one who finds it, can control time. " http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_18-1.jpg http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_12-1.jpg As you maybe already mentioned, yes this level is based on the Prince of Persia saga, especially on the sands of time. But I dont copy the story, i just take some little parts and invent my own story. In the first of 3 levels you will jump and run through a orientalic and kind of steampunk temple to find the sands of time. http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_10-2.jpg http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_11-2.jpg This is a single Player Level. It's not impossible with more people, but cameras and jumps and the gameplay is very hard for multiplayer. Also I'm an enemy of the infinite Life Checkpoints, cause I think with these checkpoints there is no challenge. So there are only a few on some hard keypoints of the level http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_16-1.jpg http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_15-1.jpg For the Highscore and Secret hunter among you I have implemented a 5-Diamond-System. Look for the hidden sticker switches throughout the level and get a reward in the end! http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_13-1.jpg http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv356/TOBSn08/EinFoto_17-1.jpg Leave some feedback. But I already know that it's hard ![]() Good Luck and may the Sands be with you - lol edit: does look much better in play mode cause of the bad photo tool ![]() | 2010-06-18 18:20:00 Author: TOBSn08 ![]() Posts: 143 |

Great job, I liked it a lot ^^ The atmosphere is really unique and seems to have been very polished. The challenges are way clever too ^^ I loved the last scenery with Mr. Time. I hope you'll make a second part soon ^^ | 2010-06-18 20:31:00 Author: Oddmania ![]() Posts: 1305 |
I just love the layering in your levels TOB, its always impressed me going right back to Tick Tock Clock. Beautiful visuals and lighting in this one, it's got a look all its own, and some really interesting platforming to boot. The only suggestion I could make would be the placement of the first few checkpoints, there's a point where you can slip down from level to level if you get wrongfooted and activate not just the previous one, but then the very first one too if you're really unlucky, and you're forced to re-do a big section of platforming. Not a problem in the big scheme of things, but it might help the flow of the level for those end up at the beginning again after passing two checkpoints..... | 2010-06-18 20:42:00 Author: julesyjules ![]() Posts: 1156 |
Very nice level like always. it wasnt hard at all you just have to get your timing right in certain areas. I also see what julesy was talking about because I fell through 4 times (I try not to leave any point bubbles behind ![]() ![]() On a side note what happened to the Hearts for Heroes series? Been waiting on that for awhile ![]() | 2010-06-19 01:51:00 Author: L1GhTmArE ![]() Posts: 519 |
Yeah, I accidentally fell down and had to do the first massive section again. I don't think you really need to have the keys on the flippers visible either, but this was a very nice level. The timing on the section where the blocks spawn in alternately where you jump from left to right was difficult to work out but not impossible. Mr time was a bit strange, you could have at least made him father time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father_Time) ![]() I did love it though, so :star::star::star::star::star: and <3 | 2010-06-19 01:51:00 Author: Asbestos101 ![]() Posts: 1114 |
LOVED IT! At the right beginning, I felt the magical feel in the air, I totally dig the lights hanging everywhere and the mix of bi-colored sponge and fence is brilliant! The story is just enough great, very Prince of Persia, it's true. You really should make another one ![]() In the beginning, the gameplay where you have 2 pieces attached to one block which throws you up was simply clever! Overall, I really really enjoyed it and I just feel like I want ore now ![]() :star::star::star::star::star: and a lovely <3 | 2010-06-19 02:04:00 Author: Chump ![]() Posts: 1712 |
Just played this level in a group of 4. I loved it and I'm going to have to play it later by myself since I really shouldn't review it now since 4 players didn't work too well. The visuals looked really nice, and the platforming is really solid. Ill post again later with a full review once I play it alone. Edit: Just played this level alone to get a better feel of it. Love the effects you have here. I love the way the lights are everywhere. The bouncy platform at the beginning was really neat. I really liked the bits where time sped up and slowed down, or even stopped. 5 stars and a heart with the Brilliant tag. I'm probably gonna replay this later to get all 5 diamonds. | 2010-06-19 02:47:00 Author: DreJ1212 ![]() Posts: 240 |
Began playing it yesterday, didn't have time, and then I lost power last night! Just got electricity back an hour ago so I'll play this soon! Thanks for the heads up! :] | 2010-06-19 22:49:00 Author: piggabling ![]() Posts: 2979 |
One of the best levels ever made. No, I'm serious. Incredible. | 2010-06-19 23:08:00 Author: KQuinn94Z ![]() Posts: 1758 |
Only thing i didn't like was the ending with...Mr. Time? He will play a major role in part 2! I hope you'll make a second part soon yup ![]() The only suggestion I could make would be the placement of the first few checkpoints, there's a point where you can slip down from level to level if you get wrongfooted and activate not just the previous one, but then the very first one too if you're really unlucky, and you're forced to re-do a big section of platforming. I already updated the level so that you cant reactivate the very first checkpoint. Im still improving that! One of the best levels ever made. No, I'm serious. Incredible. smells like spotlight ![]() Thanks fot the very positive feedback so far I promise to make part 2 even more epic ![]() keep on feebacking ![]() | 2010-06-20 01:10:00 Author: TOBSn08 ![]() Posts: 143 |
Played, 1-stared, and not hearted. Not much else... No, I'm joking! This was one amazing level! Full of flinging things and emitter platforming. It was pure fun! The best part was that when I thought it was over there was still a lot more to the level! Pros: 1. Color choice 2. Design of big building 3. Platforming was pure fun 4. Simply beautiful! Cons: 1. Falling through the building and landing on lower parts/activating previous checkpoints was annoying, but you say you've fixed that... Well, great level! :star::star::star::star::star: and <3 EDIT: I think I found only 2 diamonds, but got 6th highscore! Well, at the time... :/ | 2010-06-20 13:26:00 Author: piggabling ![]() Posts: 2979 |
I loved this level, very innovative, as always I loved the first obstacle where the two wooden pegs attatched to the building with wobble bolts were attatched to a platform with strings and tehn they open up and launch you up into the air, I thought was brilliant. Suggestions -in some parts of the level you may fall down to the lower platforms you've already been through and accidentally activate another checkpoint which forces you to redo the entire obstacle all over again makes me go -_-" -and in other parts where you jump on to emmited platforms, they have no basic pattern so you don't know when and where to jump so you end up dying like 50 times also makes me go -_-" -if possible MAKE THE SWITCHES INVISIBLE!!! sometimes it looks really cool but in other cases like this level for example, they could be a real mood killer. -also, at that part where you fall into the hour glass, you see the brain, which basically tells the player whats gonna happen next. maybe put it under the sand or somewhere you can't see it like on a piece of dark matter then attatch it to the sand. because it also ruins the mood. ![]() but over all :star::star::star::star::star: and <3 | 2010-06-20 21:00:00 Author: wolverine_2008 ![]() Posts: 304 |
thanks for the review wolverine! I think I managed to avoid activating checkpoints in the beginning. Added some gas and more electric obstacles so that it's likelier to die than to activate old checkpoints. Switches are now invisible. I like when they are visible, so you can see some logic, but seems to be distracting. Next on my list is hiding the brain ![]() | 2010-06-20 23:07:00 Author: TOBSn08 ![]() Posts: 143 |
Hiding the brain shouldn't be too difficult. Attach it to a free piece of wood, then attach the wood to the object with invisible string. Connect your one-shot input to the brain, hide the wood out of sight and Bob's your uncle! By the way, awesome level man - even better now it's finished! :star::star::star::star::star: and <3 | 2010-06-20 23:15:00 Author: Holguin86 ![]() Posts: 875 |
Absolutely fantastic level: great visuals (materials work really well together), atmospheric lighting & cool gameplay. | 2010-06-21 12:16:00 Author: pickled-punk ![]() Posts: 598 |
Amazing level and great job! The detail was amazing and it was still really long for something with that much detail. The story was good and I loved the secret diamond. I got the first three and the fifth, where is the fourth one, hmmm. Anyway, I can't wait for part 2 and 3 plus I love your LBP2 series and can't wait for Under the Canyons. | 2010-06-22 14:08:00 Author: Dragonvarsity ![]() Posts: 5208 |
Hiya- Congratulations on the spotlight, this level totally deserved it. I forgot to leave feedback for this so here goes... First off, I was totally in awe at the quality of this level. The visuals were fantasticaly unique, and the material choice had a great steampunk feel that I've never felt from any other level. The length of this level is another thing that shines, along with me actually being killed multiple times (rarely happens in levels nowadays with most of eveything being very easy and all), it was a very long level! I love how this level feels like something MM made (IMO), because I rarely do see levels like that lately. I don't really have any criticisms except for I just don't like Mr.Time, but he still looks alright I guess. ![]() I rated it :star::star::star::star::star: and <3ed the level. | 2010-06-28 03:17:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X ![]() Posts: 1800 |
I think this was the very last level I played before going on vacation. As I write this, with 30 degrees C. frying me to medium hot I still remember how awesome the level was. The choice of material and the moody setting was perfect and magical, I loved it. I remember that I spotted some sections where there was danger for falling down to lower levels and have to redo again, but I think you have fixed most already, since I played it. I will play it again though, I missed the 4th diamond, and I want to find it. ![]() EDIT: I left a poem for your level: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=29383-Community-Spotlight-Episode-42&p=521530#post521530 | 2010-07-09 18:37:00 Author: moonwire ![]() Posts: 1627 |
Brilliant visuals...excellent gameplay...a level worthy of a spotlight.... Thanks Shawn | 2010-07-10 06:40:00 Author: shawneboi ![]() Posts: 221 |
Wow wow wow. Another great level out of Tobs hands. I played this one a few times now and I really have to say, that it's a top notch level. There are some criticisms in the level comments about the lighting but that's not a point to me. I love the foggy atmosphere here very much. And what else than "pure art" can I say about the visuals of this plattformer? There are -without a doubt- not so many creators who are able to work with the 3 layers in a way you do. This level easily could be an MM production. The only thing that I didnt like that much is the difficulty - I need some runs to make it to the end and to get all diamonds. It is very challenging for part-time-plyers :-) But I'm very very glad that you used unlimited checkpoints in the bonus-area! This level is a must play. And it's funny: after playing this i played tick tock clock again, like julesjules posted earlier :-) This is the great think about your levels: you will allways play them again from time to time. Allways pure fun..... and pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease: bring back A.I.R. One - Learn to fly :-) :star::star::star::star::star: and <3 you are a ![]() greets Neo Looking forward testing/playing part two!!! ![]() | 2010-07-15 05:46:00 Author: (___NEO___) ![]() Posts: 206 |
