So, who here is considering getting Playstation Plus?

Archive: 71 posts

Me personally, not too sure... may get it just for the freebies though they would be free.

And apparently I'll get inFamous for free if I buy it in the first month or so. D:. Or if you're in Europe, you get a free downloadable LBP. Does that mean that these games will start to be downloaded? Not too sure who here needs LBP though. D:

But yeah. I'm vaguely interested, but not too sure. Chances are I will at the moment, but yep, it comes out June 29th.

Who here is considering buying it?

I wouldn't mind it, gets you a free subscription to qore he said, so I presume it will give you a firstplay subscription tin the uk.

Gets you free PSN game, PSP minis and PS1 classics, and he said there will be a 3 mont free trial.

I also believe you get free costumes in home, it make the ps3 a bit cleverer aswell i believe, it downloads updates automatically so i think it gives you a feature similar to wii connect 24. were it is connected in standby mode.

You get a one hour free trial of all psn games and get early access to demos and betas.

Its a package worth $200 for only $50 a year, it isn't too bad.

> You get a one hour free trial of all psn games and get early access to demos and betas.

Hmmm...the one hour free trial is interesting...hadn't heard about that. Of course I'd rather just have a free demo, seems rather silly that I need to pay so that I can decide if I want to buy (I usually just pass on stuff without demos that I'm not sure about).

No way I'm paying to be a software guinea pig (beta) and I'm happy to wait for a demo.

I'm not at all interested in the free games...the odds that it's something I actually want are pretty slim...and if it's a PS1 classic I probably already own the disk and wouldn't want to play it now anyway (for example Rally Cross is the first one that was mentioned...that's when I tuned out).

Home is really creepy and the issue of Qore I checked out was rather meh...

Would never enable the auto-update...these never take me more than 10 minutes anyway so I prefer that they happen under my control.

Hmmm...sounds like I probably won't bother with this. But by all means, eveyone else sign up...I own Sony stock.

The free digital copy of LBP is interesting if you subscribe in the first month, I know a lot of people have wanted a digital version of LBP and there has been no announcment of getting it on the store, so this could be the only way of getting it.2010-06-18 21:20:00

I don't know, the PSN games never appealed to me much. I don't have a PSP ... and I have every good PS1 game I ever wanted to play... so... there's no real point for me to geti t.2010-06-19 05:25:00

To do list for Foofles:

Buy:
Flower
PixelJunk Shooter
Wipeout HD (although that can be bought on disc now as well)

Maybe in Europe, but not in USA! USA! USA! USA! Where he seems to live.

Plus it's looking like that'll be free with Playstation Plus... as long as you're subscribed anyway :/

100% possible, IE Burnout paradise, its just a matter of whether developers want to do it, however with the memory capacity of a blue ray you can get a lot without filling up peoples hard drives .2010-06-19 14:10:00

Yeah, considering I have 'Less than 500 MB' of hard drive space, I'll probably need to get a new hard drive before I get this. It looks quite good though, 2010-06-19 21:13:00

I am not feeling Playstation Plus at all. I was absolutely not sold on it... Early pick at game demos? Qore subscription? Slight discount on games that I probably already have and other games I'm not interested in? Other downloadable content that I'm technically paying 50 bucks a year for, but that disappears permanently once my subscription runs out?

Eeeeehh... I really, really don't think so. They really haven't sold me at all on it. But I do like the logo!

I am considering getting two months of PS Plus, just to get the exclusive stuff that comes out and most definetly inFamous, but I really hate the fact that Sony is doing this. I know why they are, but I wish they wouldn't. (That is my opinion.)2010-06-22 22:20:00

I would if it added some of Xbox's features
(Not being fanboyish here but)
Party chat i would definatly get it if it had it!
Perhaps some game like 1vs100

eh idk maybe last.fm or pandora integration

Party chat and cross game chat will not be offered into PSN+s for one reason, you are limiting the usage, to be able to party chat in this case all the participants would need PSN+, imagine going down your friends list and finding out none of your friends had PSN+, you would be sad because the one service you paid to have you cant actually use.2010-06-23 10:30:00

I see nothing there that I am interested in.
I just bought another PS3 because the little one just wants to play LBP all the time and I can't...and it came with a free copy of LBP so I didn't have to buy another one.

That's silly logic. Adding it in would be a benefit to Sony as it would encourage people with friends who have PSN+ to go out and get PSN+ too. Better integration of the social side of PSN+ would be a selling point down the line. And if they add this for no additional cost on what PSN+ is without it, no one loses out.

It's basically the same enticement as a mobile network offering you free calls to anyone on the same network. It encourages friends of your customers to also become your customers.

From what I read when the feature was going to be included everyone could chat but only + members could start one and it would end if all + members left.

I am pretty sure this will flop. Most people are not willing to pay for a monthly service fee and that is why we love PS3 in the first place.

Take the money you would spend on this scam and spend it on buying every pixel junk game (except racers). Oh and savage moon that game is ****!!!!

I personally don't think party chat would be worth a subscription. It is my understanding however that party chat has been in the PS3 development kit for months now, I have no idea why SONY haven't implemented it yet but Meh it doesn't really affect me.

The only thing that would get me to get PSN+ would be ps2 backwards compatibility, even then it would be a bad move from SONY.

This is the first step forward paying for playing online. Why? very simple:

This subscription will contribute into people getting used to pay a subscription for PSN (like Xbox live). So when paying for that is banalised, they can charge you for more stuff. If the next gen they tell people that the subcription also gives you online play, most people will go "oh well, I was already paying and would pay for the extra stuff anyways so I guess it's not a big deal".

And then we will be in this retarded world where you pay to play online. Xbox live will not be the exception anymore but the norm. I can't encourage this (obviously).
Suffice to say I will never sign up for PSN+ just like I will never be a Gold Xbox live member.

Sony said they have no intention of getting rid of the free service. They just are giving some extra stuff to make some extra money. Typical, big companies...

I think it will be worth it. especially when they announce LBP2 beta exclusive to PS+ members I like the automatic update feature and I am sure new, awesome features will follow. I hate getting home and wanting to play a game and when I get on, there is a lame update I have to wait for. This speeds up the process a bit. And I think whenever the party chat feature, or whatever they want to call it, comes out, it will be free to everyone so that can point and laugh at microsoft. And I can't wait for this feature, because right now, my friends and I get on our xboxs and use party chat while we play the PS3 lol.2010-06-27 18:01:00

So I dont know about other regions but Europe has this on PS+
Just some highlights-
Wipeout HD -Free
Destruction Derby PS1(I actually have this on disc)-Free
Age of zombies and Fieldrunner (arguably the best minis titles)-Free
Loco roco and god of war DLC for LBP- half price
Killzone2 DLC-Free
Sackboy on the run(already own it) Dynamic theme-Free

PS+ is looking tempting.

But that is in fairness exactly what they said you get. 1 PSN game, 2 Minis, 1 PS1 Classic, DLC, offers and themes/avatars. Admittedly this month there isn't much I want. However with 1 year sub you get LBP free, so I think I may do that and just sell my LBP lol

It went live early hours of this morning (EU anyway). I think I may sign up for the year, and if I don't like, just leave it at that. Personally I think it's a decent deal, because that means over 1 year I'll have 12 PSN games, 24 Minis, 12 PS1 classics and all the extra stuff for ?40. Not bad really. And yeah I know you gotta stay subscribed, but if the first year works out well why wouldn't I carry on the subscription. Not bad I think.

I'd gladly go with this if A) I didn't already own every PS1 game I like B) I didn't consider the majority of the goodies garbage. C) If it actually offered anything else. I mean really, what's the point of saying OK GET THIS AND GET ALL THIS FOR FREE. Isn't it pretty much what you're paying for? Mmmmm... marketing.

True, though I wouldn't be suprised if they just give you access to 12 months then you have to re-new. I'll see how it goes anyway. I never buy PSN games/minis/PS1 games so this could go well for me. Those who buy things alot off of PSN though may find it a bit useless... which is a strange service to provide for their more dedicated users.

Haven't you got that the wrong way round?

If, like me, you never buy stuff apart from LBP DLC then paying a subscription is pointless. What's the use paying to get lots of discounts on things you'll never want anyway? It's only worth getting if you buy lots of different stuff already and therefore you can save money on future purchases. I don't want anything but LBP so PSN+ would be a complete waste of money for me!

Well yes, but that's cause you want only LBP stuff lol. I'd imagine most PS3 users play more than one game though. For me personally, even though I love my PS3 I rarely buy stuff off of the PSN, and I feel with this I'll get to play a ton of games I don't usually. And as I said before, 12 PSN games, 24 Minis (I own none atm) and 12 PS1 games sounds worth it on its own. I probably won't make much use of the discounts, though the themes and avatars are cool. I hope they support it well with Betas and stuff too.

EDIT: Really it will be best for new users or people like me. Because while the discounts are good, it's not worth the subscription alone I'd say.

In a sense it does sound kind of cool, but to me it almost sounds like buying a wonderball. "Pay $X for a surprise!" ... and I don't like surprises Especially since I have no use for the minis and PS1 classics anyway.

I bought it and Im loving Wipeout now for the first time! Its all a matter of perspective really. I just see it as "for the price of one game, I can get a load of nice features, games etc.) I was going to buy Wipeout anyway at some point so Ive already got 18 euros back. Add in the discount I got on the Fat Princess DLC and its 19 Euros. Now add on whatever I get for trading in my copy of LBP and I've already paid for half of it within the first month. Im sure I will get stuff (that I would have bought anyway) from psn+ that will equate to more that 25 euro over the next 11 months. Seeing as I would usually spend about 20 euro a month anyway on it.

My only problem is that what happens when something cool comes out on psn that you don't get for free or discounted on psn+. You will have to make a decision whether you want it now or wait for it to be on psn+. It would be kind of annoying to buy a 10 euro psn game the week it comes out only to be given it for free 2/3 months later. When the sales of it are dying off.

Yeah I feel that way about a few games atm. Fortuanatly my money situation has decided I'll wait

And Wipeout is pure awesome! The fury add on pack is worth it too when your done with the main game. It's basically as big as the original game. On sale too next month for Plus people i believe. I actually already had Wipeout from game sharing, but now I have my own copy which is pretty sweet.

So far I'm pleased with my purchase I don't see how people can diss PS Plus really, what you get atm stays free, so if you don't want it don't get it. It takes nothing away from the current PS experience, but just adds more for a good price I'd say. IGN did a neat little article on it http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/110/1102801p1.html

gameshare is a horrible idea...and not really legal....plus MW2 is too glitchy...MAG is better

I'm not! Seeing as I have an old 40gb fatty, free content would only clog up the little space I have. I'm not impatient and I can wait for the public release of a demo, and the hour long free trails are basically glorified demos.2010-07-01 17:46:00
