robbit10's Logic Packrobbit10
http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/9665/aphoto35.jpgThis is a pack of Logic that i've made. All the logic in this level has been built by me, none has been captured from the logic pack. The logic in this level takes the best from the logic pack and extends upon it, modifying the thermometer usage or size so that it takes up even less.
The logic is given away at the end of the level. As usual, I welcome constructive criticism, comments, or ratings. This pack expands upon the logic pack but isn't intended to replace it, although you could do that if you wanted to. Once enough people have played it, I will release a copyable level that contains capturable logic, like the Logic Vaults from the logic pack.

Saying the emmiter permanent switch uses the least amount of thermo isn't necessarily true. It has one more switch than the dissolve permanent switch. How much thermo it uses in your level depends on what thermos you've been maxing out.

Your "pulse" switch is more of a rythmic output switch (a more well-known and descriptive name).

Your ANDs and ORs aren't the lowest-thermo ways to make them. The reason the logic pack didn't use what I'm talking about is probably just because of simplicity for the player. To make an AND, have two low-strength connectors that can only pull a piece of material inward if they're both active. To make an OR, have a high-strength winch and a low-strength piston. The weak piston can pull inwards when active and push outwards when inactive. The winch has no effect when inactive because winches can pull but not push, and when active, it overpowers the weak piston and pulls inward because it's stronger. Those are the basic concepts. You could make a 5-input AND with two pieces of material, one key, one keyswitch, and 5 connectors.

For your emmiter toggle, the way the key is invisible can confuse the player.

For your switcher, you can rotate the keyswitch on the right, invert it, increase the radius, and group it with the keyswitch on the left to save 4 corners.

The paint-based counter switch demonstration was funny, lol.

Thanks for playing it

I've tested the emitter permanent switch in a blank level (with an entrance), and the max switches before the thermometer maxes out, is at around 360. However, my switch might take up more than the dissolve-based permanent switch.. And in that case, please correct me. However, my switch DOES take up less thermometer than the winch-based permanent switch which is in the logic pack. I've tested it.

A rhythmic output switch? I thought a rhythmic output switch was one with multiple keys, so it would pulse a few times in a row - i just made one with one key, and called it a pulse switch.. Is that still a rhythmic output switch?

About the switcher tip, thanks! I'll implement that

Rhythmic output doesn't need more than one key. The lowest-thermo way (if you need water switches anyway) to make a rhythmic output switch is to put a water switch on dark matter and add water with waves .

Another low-thermo permanent switch is rtm223's hystereperm. It uses a little-known property of magnetic keys that makes the radius extend slightly once the keyswitch detects a key. In the hysteraperm, a magnetic key on a piece of cardboard flips toward a key, turns on, and is always on even when it goes back to its starting position because of hysteresis (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23046-A-quick-guide-to-Hysteresis&highlight=hysteresis).

Ok, so I played your level!

It was nice and informative, if a bit basic in the logic used. The 0.0 emitter is a nice prize, by the way.
I found it bore quite a resemblance to the logic pack, but with (unsurprisingly) a few new elements. It was an ok logic showcase, but I didn't really find I learnt to much new stuff from it.

Overall, it's a nice level for logic beginners, but not so much for more advanced logic-ers.
I gave 4 stars! And, for F4F, could you please leave feedback on my level, River Rush? The link is in my signature.

Thanks for the review. I'll play your River Rush as soon as I find the time.2010-06-18 07:08:00
