Suggestions - Various stuff

Obviously I cannot be sure if they have implemented it allready,
but here are some things they could/should consider.

When in co-create mode:

"Play Level Alone"
In this case, either the host or any guests can play the level alone, quite handy for 1p levels.
This way i.e. someone can play the level I am working on while I can keep on working on the level untill the player finishes the level/exits it.
Host should have options like
"Allow player to play level",
"Allow collecting prizes on/off",
"spectate",
"Seperate play" - Each person gets his own 1p game or have 2 games of 2 people co-op-ing.

"Spectate" could be quite valueble as a creator can learn a lot from watching people playing his level
Sure you can turn off the controller, but that means you cannot interact with the person playing.

Rewind in play mode (while creating),
did something wrong? want to find out what happened? Just rewind and try a particular part again.

Skip trough checkpoints
By pressing a certain button combination, skip to next/previous checkpoint.
Easy if you want to test certain things in play mode.

Noteblock
Have a noteblock ready when playing level (trough popit?)
So if you find a switch, just mark it with your noteblock and it'll either screencap the location, or you could write a small note saying "Hey this switch is still visable".
When returning to editor, you can either check the noteblock, or have "Icons" flashing or something to notify you that you wanted to change something at that specific location.

Object smoothing
Something everyone in 3dsmax probably knows,
This smooths the selected object by adding more corners,
Maybe even select multiple corners and add the smooth-tool only to the selection.
(lazy mans tool)

Usb-stick/drive mp3 support.
I got so many cd's, but not that much space left on my ps3, I would really appreciate it if I could just attach my mp3player/storage drive and play those mp3's in the editor. (just for my own pleasure, by no means do I want to use these mp3's in my levels.

I dont want to repeat myself, but some of the suggestions I have made in the past for lbp would still be nice in lbp2.

*Border-options*

With border options I mean, show thick green line around movable objects.
for instance:

*Green line: Moving objects. (aka objects that not have been glued to dark matter)
*Red line: complex objects. (the ones the engine hates)
*Yellow line: "Problem objects" for instance, objects that get "stressed" due to i.e. pistons and keeps shaking/stressing (often results in objects/pistons/winches moving very slow over a very long time when they are not activated/off state/unwanted movements)
*Blue line: Show complex area's.
Other colored line: Show un-used switches.. (like a not connected prox etc)

"Optimise object"
From the first day 3d was invented (polygons) there have been 3d models with vertexes (corners) that are exactly at the same spot, on all planes (X/Y/Z).
Pressing this should merge all corners that are on top of eachother.
maybe have an advanced option to merge vertexes (corners) that are within "X" radius of eachother.. something like a "Smooth"

*Set/Reset Pivot*
Pivot is the Main point any object rotates about,
as a circle rotates around it centre, that centre is called a pivot.
Sometimes when you create an object, rotating it with grid on will result in it being rotated/way off grid.
Resetting the pivot would result in the object rotate normally when grid on.
Setting the pivot for instance on the corner of a square would make it rotate around that corner instead of the centre of the square.
This is really handy for complex and strange shaped objects/copied objects.
And to get them back on grid.

thats it for now,
Poor old arms.

Nice list. Many of those would be incredibly helpful. Especially skipping through checkpoints and spectate mode. I really can get annoying having to play through your entire level just to get to the one part that you were working on/just added.2010-06-16 18:10:00

?

I was thinking people might be wth about that.

If you are in create mode, press "play level" you go into the level right.
Well for instance you are testing a certain cutscene,
pressing rewind would be great to have the cut-scene happen again,
or if something breaks for no reason, just rewind and try it again without going to create mode/restart.

Sure you can just add a switch to the checkpoint and invert it so that its "on".
this way you will start there next time you play the level (in lbp1)
But not having to do that would be user friendly imho.

There is a preview mode when you are in create mode. If you turn it on you see the level as it would in play mode. No need to enter play mode just to see which switch is visible.

That also solves your rewind in play mode problem.

Rewind in play mode (while creating)
So basically like in prince of persia?!

Good ideas! I want to see a paintbrush that works similar to the PopIt cursor!
