I crave moooore. Do they let you look at creation mode or any of the creation tools? Can we get an example of voice acting? How about more of the Creatinator in action? So many questions. | 2010-06-16 08:10:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
wowie, i see fast-paced gameplay coming right up! i wonder what devious obstacles captaincowboyhat could make with this. | 2010-06-16 08:16:00 Author: kiwin Posts: 218 |
I don't think they'll be letting people play in full create mode on the show floor. judging by what the guys said from the game jam, it was quite buggy and prone to freezing. not what you want people on the floor talking about. i'm very interested to see some cutscenes in action. Hah, taking requests, donkey? I require cutscenes! And lobster tail. | 2010-06-16 08:40:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
here this vid has that in HD and part of the E3 show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogU1eRwhOdY go to 0:35 to see this part of it. No sound on it though | 2010-06-16 09:13:00 Author: fodawim Posts: 363 |

And I'll be able to get a closer look at the game aside from what is shown on the show floor assuming the stars align the way they should, lol. | 2010-06-16 17:09:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
This is exactly what I've been wanting to see! More actual platforming. Awesome! | 2010-06-16 17:10:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
I'm over in the SCEE press booth right now and I have some good hands on HD vids of create mode and the other levels LBPC'ers made in the Community Jam on top of other neat things by the Mm level creators. =) Will attempt to post when I get back home. | 2010-06-16 20:15:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |

Awesome, awesome! Thanks gev. Forgot to mention before, some shots or clips of circuit boards and microchips, the more complex the better, would be oh-so-grand. Most of us still have very little idea what these are really going to look like all spread out. Your vids are at the moment my most-anticipated upcoming E3 reveal. Because, frankly, I've seen pretty much everything else I care about. | 2010-06-16 20:19:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |

Are the cogs seen throughout a decoration or object? They appear to pass through things. Would be a nice feature to be able to disable collisions on certain objects. | 2010-06-16 20:39:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |
Awesooooome! Subscribed to this thread Thanks for doing this, Gevurah! | 2010-06-16 20:55:00 Author: GreyMRP Posts: 588 |
No problem guys. I've had to help out a bit on the show floor while they work some press stuff, so I'll try to absorb as much as I can, although it'd be regurgitating what the community jam guys have mentioned, but with vids. | 2010-06-16 21:10:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
WOW, i cant thank you enough! thats good stuff! So if its you playing, how was it controling it? was it hard to aim in the air/shoot like that? or was it easy as pie... i like pie so yea, thanks for recording and i will be looking foward to some more awsome gameplay! | 2010-06-16 21:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
Had any time to make any Z.o.E or Gundam stuff? | 2010-06-16 21:11:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
it'd be regurgitating what the community jam guys have mentioned, but with vids. That certainly wouldn't be a bad thing, we're woefully missing media from what we've published, and a lot of people wil "get it" better if presented visually | 2010-06-16 21:32:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Thanks for this... your like our man on the inside... (one of the many these days) but your efforts are really appreciated! I am instantly attracted to that microchip looking material/object or decoration that is electrified in the vid. I'm also in love with that animated electron skin... Oh baby! Sky's the limit. | 2010-06-16 23:46:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |

PLEASE. I CRAVE IT. I'd love to see camera/cutscene features!! But it's okay if not. Just show us what ya got!! | 2010-06-17 00:03:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
Had any time to make any Z.o.E or Gundam stuff? Nah, was really busy helping out on the SCEE booth showing off LBP2 to showgoers. Hopefully tomorrow I might have some time. =) That certainly wouldn't be a bad thing, we're woefully missing media from what we've published, and a lot of people wil "get it" better if presented visually Good point. The vids I took with Spaff (thanks to my wife recording, lol) do help with the visualization of it all. Needless to say, you and the other guys made an awesome level (I think it was the Cow herding one... right?). You get blitzed by enemies so quick, lol. So I'm back home now working on the vids. I'll be uploading them on youtube soon. | 2010-06-17 04:38:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Woh awesome dude! All I have to say is wow! | 2010-06-17 05:27:00 Author: CheesyDemon Posts: 170 |
One new vid up now. It's a more indepth look at the Controlinator (DCS) with microchips and other various object tweaks. It starts off the same as other DCS vids, but I get a short but deeper look into it with Spaff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awnqU471ZZE | 2010-06-17 06:04:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Yeah, new backflip whenh entering hover mode! | 2010-06-17 06:11:00 Author: JspOt Posts: 3607 |
Lol, the Controlinator. Love it. Nice video man. Really appreciate seeing some videos in create mode. It looks as though that "simple logic" section has parts designed after RTM's logic guide diagrams? xD It sure looks that way (unless rtm didn't come up with the symbols for AND/OR gates, I really don't know). The ease that seemed to come from the "Controlinator" (that'll take some time getting used to...typed DCS first) and movers combined makes for something unbelievable. I love you Media Molecule. | 2010-06-17 06:35:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |
Thanks man! I have about 3-4 more vids coming up for youtube processing. - An up close look at the press release Controlinator Vehicles (sidescrolling shooting metal bee, fuzzy worms, chicken) - Community Jam levels - RTS and crazy Starfox-like level from Johnee and Kristoff - A little up close chat on the camera controls (unluckily no vid of the actual camera controls) I will get more tomorrow if I have the time. ^^ And in all honesty, I don't think I can play LBP1 any more thanks to messing about with this game. | 2010-06-17 06:42:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Excellent videos mate, well done. It's making me wish I was playing around with it again! It is awesome though isn't it! I agree that it will it hard, if not impossible to go back to LBP1 now! Needless to say, you and the other guys made an awesome level (I think it was the Cow herding one... right?). You get blitzed by enemies so quick, lol. Haha, thanks for the cool comments on my level. They do come thick and fast the enemies, I would have set them up in waves if I'd had a little more time to tweak it, there were so many things I wanted to add but couldn't fit in! Can't wait to see the other videos. | 2010-06-17 06:49:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Thanks man! There's going to be more opportunities to mess with LBP2 in the near future, so no worries for us. ^^ Anyway, second vid is up! An up close look at the press release Controlinator Vehicles (sidescrolling shooting metal bee, fuzzy worms, chicken) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIgsIxZm0nI | 2010-06-17 07:05:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
That is a very strange looking level... I also saw the fabled star material there, right? | 2010-06-17 07:10:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Now you're just making me giddy. lol I must have this game even more than before. Can't wait to see even more videos from you. xD | 2010-06-17 07:19:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |
Lucky for you, here's the third vid! Advanced Camera Control convo... and Johnee is doing the voiceover in the cutscene, lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8vSSzAVrh8 | 2010-06-17 07:31:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
That sounded like some very cool music, and the camera tool looks a lot simpler to use rather than hooking about 200 LBP1 cameras to make a simple zoom in technique. The voice acting was hilarious too. | 2010-06-17 07:37:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
now i have tons of new videos to watch. so little time and so many videos.. | 2010-06-17 07:37:00 Author: kiwin Posts: 218 |
I'm in tears dude. That was wonderful...magical, and I couldn't even hear the interview. lol Think you can write up the questions you asked and his answers? (I could turn up the sound really loud, but I doubt my sleeping family would like that). The voice overs sound great (from what I can hear), although I'm not sure if Mm is using the PSeye or any other low tech microphone (or if they're even using the in-game feature of voice over). Very comical that's for sure. xD | 2010-06-17 07:38:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |
I basically asked if we had to essentially jury rig switches to pistons in order to get the effect in this level. He said the new camera controls will allow you to control the panning of the scenes and link them without having to resort to what I mentioned. Also you can add your own voice. | 2010-06-17 08:25:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Oh my god. This is the video I've been waiting for. That opening shot was gorgeous. Truly the game of the decade. Thanks for everything, gevurah! You rock! Edit: Oops, I forgot to hit reply with quote. I'm talking about the cutscene video. | 2010-06-17 08:36:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
Questions. How far in can you zoom in the game camera? And can you attach it to an object and have it project at different angles, such as ending up being able to make a first-person game by attaching it to the hood of a car or something? Also, can you make DCS invisible or change its size? Also thank you soooo much for the video. This was the most amazing thing I've seen in a long time XD | 2010-06-17 08:40:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
Not sure about the specifics of the camera. I can get more in-depth tomorrow, but for now you might get more info from the community jam guys. Also, I'm currently unaware of making the Controlinator invisible, but you can set it to remote control so that you are not directly on the object you are controlling. | 2010-06-17 08:46:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |

And can you attach it to an object and have it project at different angles, such as ending up being able to make a first-person game by attaching it to the hood of a car or something? I had the feeling that you can zoom in (and out) further. Don't think first person is possible with using tricks. Also, can you make DCS invisible or change its size? You can make it invisible, not sure about changing the size. | 2010-06-17 08:48:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Judging from the vehicle vid, I guess there's no "flipper" device. You know, something that allows you to turn objects in the other direction? That would have been cool. | 2010-06-17 09:04:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
One more vid for tonight... RTS and "3D" Star Fox-esque Shooter Gameplay (WITH BARREL ROLLS!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afjZUFRNLqc | 2010-06-17 09:11:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
What the......WOW. I wasn't expecting that! *tears* | 2010-06-17 09:28:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
I'm off to bed guys. I'll hopefully have more juicy info and vids tomorrow when I head back to the SCEE booth at E3. | 2010-06-17 09:40:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Sleep? How dare you! Just program a sackbot to sleep in your place. | 2010-06-17 09:55:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
Donkey...I...I.... *faints* If you can, please try to get a video that toys with Sackbots, programming their speed and whatnot if possible, and jumping into them. Maybe even something playing with a Creatinator if you get the chance. Not sure about the specifics of the camera. I can get more in-depth tomorrow, but for now you might get more info from the community jam guys. Also, I'm currently unaware of making the Controlinator invisible, but you can set it to remote control so that you are not directly on the object you are controlling. Ah, I see. Thanks. I asked because I'm brainstorming workarounds to having to have Sackboy "on" something to move around in top-down mode. If the control seat was invisible, that might help. Or if you could shrink it. OR if you could place it on a material so incredibly small that it wouldn't look like Sackboy was on anything at all. | 2010-06-17 09:58:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
>:/ Gevurah, you and Mm owe me a new pair of pants... No but seriouly, grat vids man, good to have some more to see and so many more answers! Speaking of answersm do you know how much can you edit sackbots to not loook so sack-like? You knoww, make an arm larger, a leg shorter, change the torso size, make it the body skinnier/ thivker/ fatter and stuff. Aye, nay, possible? | 2010-06-17 10:05:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
How did you do that picture of Lenny Da Vinci in the RTS level at the bottom, giving the speech? Did you paste the picture onto the Holographic material or something? | 2010-06-17 10:09:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
This is really awesome I can't wait to play it. Is it just me or is November(hopefully sooner) a really long time away? I can't wait to see all the story levels people creates. | 2010-06-17 10:34:00 Author: GhostViper Posts: 110 |
The last one is staggering Thank you so much, these are the best LBP2 videos I've seen during the E3 ^^ The shooter looks so stunning ! Do you know if there's an illusion of depth, or if it's real ? | 2010-06-17 11:16:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
watched latest video, im now having trouble typing on account of my head asploding. | 2010-06-17 11:18:00 Author: kiwin Posts: 218 |
Do you know if there's an illusion of depth, or if it's real ? It's an illusion. It's all flat. | 2010-06-17 11:20:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Just a heads up... that wasn't level designer Johnee doing the voice-overs. It was another Johnee... or someone not even named Johnee. When we went on the tour of the office, we met the guy who did the voice overs, and it wasn't Johnee. That said, I'm terrible with names. : | 2010-06-17 11:44:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
It was "Johney" the programmer, as apposed "Johnee" the level designer. | 2010-06-17 12:02:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |
Amazing! Great compliment to the recent write-up by rtm and the jam fellers. Just one thing I'm wondering. How could you not resort to violence to get Spaff to show you the star fox and RTS levels in create mode? This is your mission for tomorrow, should you choose to accept it. Spaff cries easy, so I suggest make him cry (punches work, or making fun of his eyebrows). While the waterworks are going, apologize to him and go in for a hug. He'll appreciate it. As he reaches for you, gingerly take the controller from his hands. Make sure his back is to the tv screen. Now. Gently hold him while you play his game. Tell him it's going to be okay. But secretly just get into those levels. mm hm... That's the stuff. | 2010-06-17 12:08:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
Well, I can describe the starfox-ish level at least. Sackboy is actually in the back layer on his direct control seat. Then, everything you see on the screen is actually in front of sackboy, and entirely in one layer. We went into the level and turned the camera way off to the right, and it was mind-boggling seeing all of that run in one thin layer. @David - Your second task is to get into Wex, rtm, and I's level, which we not-so-aptly named 'Go Kart Rally (With Better Glue).' It has no Go Karts at all, and the glue only means that I fixed the level just before we ran out of time. | 2010-06-17 12:13:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
I've seen the starfox level in create - it's even more mindblowing seeing the entire thing from the side as the perspective breaks and you can see it's all compressed into a single thin layer! The RTS we could have seen in create (we had access to everything in create if we wanted it - debug builds FTW). I don't think there was much point though, it would have been a mass of wires and holograph materials all over the place. Having played with the tools, it's clear how such a thing could be done, just that it would take an awesome amount of time / effort. Plus ambition to be the first one to do it (I'm ever so slightly jealous of christophe for pulling it off so well ) @comph: didn't we change the title when we stopped it from overheating? | 2010-06-17 12:14:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
D: ... So, uh... how many of these will actually be in the game? XD Like will the Star Fox or RTS? O-o At any rate... D: /implodes | 2010-06-17 12:33:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

@comph: didn't we change the title when we stopped it from overheating? Yeah, from "[With REAL WATORZ]" to "[With Better Glue]" | 2010-06-17 15:03:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Thank you this is awesome. Alot more informative than the actual thing showed at the e3 presentation, it's cool to finally see the create mode. Also the direct control (seat) and microchips is just like i imagined, it must be much more cool to create complicated logic. The camera tool is very useful and cool, i will be creating alot of cinematics in my levels. I think the final video is amazing it really shows the new dimensions and possibilities of LBP2 compared to LBP1. On the second video i think the level did break (?) at the end because all the vehicles were gone and the sackboy couldn't continue (also everytime they tried to load a level it said failure ). I suppose this is still the beta (you can also see the text at the bottom of the screen like in a beta) and i hope they will release it too. I really want in the beta and play this as soon as possible but i know it probably wont happen | 2010-06-17 15:17:00 Author: thi766 Posts: 135 |

I smell a delay on this to 2011. It's not even done with alpha yet and it only has like 5 more months to go. That would suck though because there would hardly be any PS3 exclusives this holiday...just SOCOM 4 and Grand Turismo 5 (neither of which I'm interested in). Hope this can make it to the target release. | 2010-06-17 19:42:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
DO A BARREL ROLL! Ha, thanks so much for uploading these. The new features look completely insane. The only thing that worries me is that dreaded 'Failed to load level' sign that pops up All through I'm sure there was a reason for that happening! | 2010-06-17 20:04:00 Author: Heckboy88 Posts: 179 |

Hope this can make it to the target release. Alex stated in one of his interviews that it will release Q4. He said it with extreme confidence too, so I'm fairly certain they'll work double time if they have to to get the game out for us all before '11. If we have to wait until '11, that's no big deal. We're getting this amazing piece of hardware from them regardless, and if they take that extra month or so to perfect it, by all means, I'd be more happy to have a perfect game (yes, LBP2 will be perfect) rather than one that has a few bugs that drive me insane. And I loved the helicopter level. :3 I can't wait for this game now, and the water material looks fantastic! | 2010-06-17 20:08:00 Author: AeroForce22 Posts: 392 |
I sat down with Tom today and got some good create mode vids that go much deeper into Controlinator, Sackbots, and Advanced Logic. I also got a little behind the scenes with Barrel Rolling. The vids will probably be uploaded by tomorrow at the least. ^^ | 2010-06-17 20:25:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |

MM still has the same company and the same group of gamers breathing down their necks, and now this company owns them. You were there when the first game was released. Worst case scenario is that they release it prematurely (again), Murphy's law goes into full effect (again), then they slowly fix the problems after they return from sabbatical, and release the update in the spring (again). So there's really no way that the game will not be released for the holiday season. Of course, that's assuming the people in charge of localization don't screw up (again). | 2010-06-17 20:45:00 Author: DarkDedede Posts: 672 |

And besides, i think i's preffere an early glitchy releast then a latter "perfect" one, don't you? hink about it, if LBP1 had been "perfect" from the begining (altho no game is, you know what i mean) we would've never been able to do so much stuff, remember, cow materials, gravity control platforms, and the oh so famous 3D glitch, among so many other useful, fun and helpful game exploits, are all bugs/ glitches that would've NEVER happened if the games had been perfect! It's not so much about these 'useful' gltiches, more all the problems with the cool levels, lag and other annoyances that were the big problem when LBP1 was released. I'd much prefer they eliminate as many of thsoe problems with LBP2 rather than rush it and miss a load (but you can guarantee there'll still be one or two, there is with any game). I'm sure there'll probably be even more 'useful' glitches that people will find when it's released. | 2010-06-17 21:39:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
So i say bring on the "too early" release for ust to create and exploit all those unsuspected glitches! The more glitches the better! Quite a foolish thing to say. I'm sure you weren't around for The Spinning Wheel of Death, extremely small profiles, corrupted profiles, corrupted levels, and let's not forget all the goodies that came with bRoquefort. I'm sure all the work that was lost, that could have been prevented, far outweighs any of the benefits that came with any of the more "convenient" glitches. More glitches, indeed... No thanks. Yes i know about all those bad glitches, but hey, you can't expect them all to be good, of course you're gonna have a couple of bad ones, but if yo know how to deal with them it's not really a problem, specially now that we can back up our data regularly, that shouldn't be a problem at all, unless of course you're one of the ones that thinks nothing will go wrong and only backs up their data every 6 months of course. Oh but enough about this little discussion m8, don't wanna start with the wrong foot here. | 2010-06-18 03:42:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

Nice... As much as I appreciated all of Tom's insight in his demo with me, on day 3 he seemed so burnt out and I kept throwing MORE and MORE questions at him. Maybe it was the 2 pints we had just before I sat down with him. Thanks again for introducing me to the Mm guys. Gotta lot to think about now. They are SO right... how can I even create in LBP1 anymore? BTW, I saw that you were recording when Tom & I were going through it, but did you happen to get some vid of the intro "cut scenes" that he showed me? Lots of VERY nice cam controls available. | 2010-06-18 05:13:00 Author: cdubb024 Posts: 247 |
These videos are great. I was bouncing around all day watching them, my amount of broadband getting smaller and smaller. No prob man. Gotta hook winners up right? =P As for the vid, I'd say... it's either the third or fourth vid I have up on the first page. It should be called Advanced Camera Control Convo. what WAS that background?? an arcade?? it looked immense!! better than the lbp 1 backgrounds! what it the whole background like?? lol It just looks like a huge old school arcade. ^^ And as an update to what's coming up, here's a little more detailed info in the next set of videos I took with Tom_Molecule on Thursday: - Create Mode: Sackbots - Create Mode: Another in-depth discussion on Controlinator (DCS) and Microchips - Create Mode: Simple/Advanced Logic (i.e. timers, sequencers) - Create Mode: Power Gloves - Create Mode: Bullet Types - Create Mode: Advanced Camera Controls (camera linking, options, etc.) - A quick vid of LBP2 Move - A quick view of the Star Fox-esque shooter and the RTS in create mode - Some other stuff that's pretty juicy ^^ Stay tuned guys. :3 | 2010-06-18 18:21:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |

I'd say maybe some go up today and the rest over the weekend. I have a ton of grad school stuff I have to catch up on, on top of lots of reports at work, so just bear with me. Altogether, I probably have about 30 minutes of footage from yesterday before editing and a bit more if you guys want me to put up Alex Evan's presentation at the SCEE booth. It should be similar to the Gamespot one that was posted earlier. And again, all vids are HD, but offscreen (thank you Sony HD camcorder, lol). | 2010-06-18 19:08:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |

Hey! First off, great vids! Thanks for those - and to the creators who made those levels - nice work! They were amazing. I was just wondering about the DCSs - like, in the helicopter level, what would happen if more than one player was playing it? Would there be multiple helicopters? Thanks! | 2010-06-18 20:29:00 Author: standby250 Posts: 1113 |

I was just wondering about the DCSs - like, in the helicopter level, what would happen if more than one player was playing it? Would there be multiple helicopters? Thanks! Hehe, I never really thought about trying it. You'd have to ask the guys who went to the Community Jam for some insight on that since they made those levels. They all seemed geared towards single player anyway. | 2010-06-18 21:01:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
No, because we didn't make multiple helicopters We thought about it, but the concept wouldn't work on a local system as shared screen wouldn't be practical, and we were only demoing on a single screen.# Basically if you wanted two helicopters, you'd have to make two helicopters | 2010-06-18 21:51:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

Don't worry about the platforming guys, remember that the sequel is built upon the current game - everything you can do in LBP1 you can do in LBP2 and I honestly believe there will still be a strong contingent of platformers and puzzle-platformers in both the story mode and the community levels. Platforming is just to much fun Plus grappling hook + bounce pads == win. As does grappling hook and low gravity. With maybe some bounce pads in there too :hero: | 2010-06-19 00:11:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

Excellente! Best one yet! Thanks a ton for the voice over work as well. I'll be going back in and watching that one again for sure. The closest I'll get to playing around with it for some time. I can already imagine the sackbot direct-control "schemes" we'll be able to create and share. Maybe someone will create the perfect Super Mario bros. sackbot scheme (if such a thing is possible), and share it for all. okay. okay. I'm off to watch the vid again. | 2010-06-19 09:36:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |

it seemed like that one sackbot took a HUGE amount of space on the thermo... and by the looks of it the checkpoints are colored white by default yes, but if you notcie, 6 sackbots take up around the same thermo as 1. it appears to be an initial cost of thermo then after that sackbots dont take as much. | 2010-06-19 23:05:00 Author: samalot Posts: 591 |

So we're a ways away until Beta. Maybe August? September? They said in an interview that the majority of the team has only been working completely on LBP2 for about 9 months now. P.S: Could you get the videos in a higher quality coz when watching that everything was blurry and when sackboy put on the power-glove I couldn't see him? | 2010-06-20 09:02:00 Author: CYBERSNAKE Posts: 280 |

ITS UP!!! Power Gloves, Creatinators, and Cutscene Cameras! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUFZrVbnocU THANK YOU. *feeds on video* Aw man. Was hoping you could swing objects around with the power gloves. That'd fix the melee weapon need. Oh well YOU CAN EMIT WATER THROUGH THE CREATINATOR? *Faints* | 2010-06-20 09:04:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
P.S: Could you get the videos in a higher quality coz when watching that everything was blurry and when sackboy put on the power-glove I couldn't see him? I recorded all these vids in HD, so give it time to process. Also, as of now Sackboy glows when he has the power gloves on. Don't know if they plan on keeping that effect, but that's what I have for now. | 2010-06-20 09:07:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
They should make the power-ups more subtle...the huge helmet for the Creatinator and glowing for Power Gloves seems to be a bit much. Now that the video's cleared up...yeah...I really hope they make changes to the look of them, OR they let us make gadgets invisible (something I've wanted for a long time). I can't make, say, an inFamous level where Sackboy shoots out electricity with the Creatinator if he's wearing a ginormous helmet and tank on his back lol. And since "picking up objects" is a rather normal video game action...I find it odd that Sackboy's suddenly glowing like a superhero. | 2010-06-20 09:08:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |

Yes you could, you can have a sackbot and stick an emitter (that shoots out electricity) on him than use the direct control seat to control the sackbot and the emitter without making it look weird. | 2010-06-20 09:21:00 Author: CYBERSNAKE Posts: 280 |
Excellent, thanks for posting all these! Awesome to see this, I'm getting a pretty good handle on it. Still going to have to play with it to see how it flows. Particularly the TIMING or editing of cutscenes. I'm imagining that instead of going straight from camera to camera, we'll go out from a camera into sequencing logic, event-event-event, pause-event-pause, and then finally out to the next cutscene camera. The camera tools looked quite robust. Zooming, depth of field, rotating, handheld shake, animation, transitions... It seems that almost anything will be possible, though my big question is going to be HOW MUCH on axis can we rotate a camera in order to look at a sackboy as he runs down the level. Obviously head-on will be impossible, judging from how far the camera rotates in the video. But won't know how it looks for sure until we get in close with it on a sackboy and see it in action. I know 90% of my shots will be way way in up close, but it seems that you can actually move the camera up on a wide angle rather than just zooming in, like it is now. I'll check the video again once it's done processing so I can view the tweak settings in HD, but if the zoom and z-position tweaks are what I hope they are, you could do a hilarious vertigo effect by moving in while zooming out or vice versa. Hmmm... One thing I'm interested in is playing with the "freeze player" tweak for "live acting" during cutscenes. Either as part of the level (choose your own adventure style?) or simply for recording machinima. Argh, I just can't wait to get my hands on this. This is perfect though, the details are coming in such that we can all start planning out in some detail what we're going to try with this. | 2010-06-20 09:25:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |

Haha, shooting cows. I want to fire out little sackbots that protect you. Thanks again for the LBP2 fix, gevurah. LBP2 is still months away though. Do you know if there's gonna be anything cool coming out for LBP1 to help ease the pain of waiting? | 2010-06-20 09:36:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |

So, do the 'elements' like fire, that are currently all labelled 'water' activate paint switches? Or something similar? Can you destroy a sackbot/boy with them? | 2010-06-20 10:00:00 Author: Jedi_1993 Posts: 1518 |
Are the bullets(fire etc.) in the tools bag section always, or just when you use the creatinator thing? Also, I hope they get rid of the annoying glow(or at least make it so it surrounds/outlines sackboy instead of covering him) | 2010-06-20 11:12:00 Author: Unknown User |
This is inspiring yet discouraging for me XD I mean it's awesome and really blows my mind, but all these creators have a huge head start, and by the time this comes out, it'll take a while for us just to reach the level they're at right now Those videos give me so many ideas... | 2010-06-20 11:18:00 Author: Voodeedoo Posts: 724 |

In which case, why even have the Creatinator? Um... because sackbots are entirely different than just using sackboy? Oh, yeah... that makes sense... Not everyone wants to use sackbots for everything, you know. They do actually cost thermometer space, and take more effort to make and tweak. | 2010-06-20 17:19:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |

Um... because sackbots are entirely different than just using sackboy? Oh, yeah... that makes sense... Not everyone wants to use sackbots for everything, you know. They do actually cost thermometer space, and take more effort to make and tweak. Many people will be using Sackbots considering Sackboy's jump is terrible and they'll want to tweak his jumping physics...but anyway, if you can just have Sackboy automatically enter a Sackbot at the beginning of a level that looks exactly how you want it and can shoot what it wants, why would you want to have a silly hat and tank to use an emitter? As for thermometer space, I doubt there's going to be one level in LBP2 that doesn't utilize at least one Sackbot anyway. | 2010-06-20 22:24:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |
When I was running through these demos with Gev and Tom, I did pose the question about thermo space and sackbots... Tom's answer was something like "It's still in the early stages and still there will be room for adjustment." Meaning that Mm is still working on the sackbots NOT taking up SO much thermo space. Also I noticed that the thermo would bounce up and down, especially when Tom was messing about with the "Starfox" level... He said that was because the thermo was only taking into account what was "on screen" and not in the entire level. Still, he said there was plenty of room for the devs to adjust the thermo features. Hope this info helps. Thanks again Gev for posting the vids. I can't believe I left my camera... would've loved a few pics of the riot officers outside of Staples that night. | 2010-06-20 22:34:00 Author: cdubb024 Posts: 247 |

As for thermometer space, I doubt there's going to be one level in LBP2 that doesn't utilize at least one Sackbot anyway. well your wrong already, most of the levels made by our very own best (in 24 hours) contained no sackbots, i believe the only one i saw was the UFO one were you destroy stuff and even then they were just there for the funny effect EDIT: and no, as far as i know there those silver little switches with the arrows, theres not much to explain except yes...they move stuff or atleast attempt to EDIT EDIT: QUESTION!! i noticed the hat had the options to shoot fire (which you demonstrated awesome ) water plasma and slime are these just options for the emitter hat and emitter or is water slime and fire and plasma an actual object you can pull out (if thats the case how do you pop out fire without it immediately disappearing? o.O) | 2010-06-20 23:31:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |

I hope those new bullet things have corresponding switches... so like you could emit fire at vines to make them burn. An idea that occurs for the burning animation would be to actually set it on fire using the lethaliser, than then destroy it after a time delay. Not sure which of the effects would work though. It would be cool to get a proper burn destruction animation though, like burning into ashes for a moment then poof into smoke | 2010-06-21 00:30:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
By the way, the Creatinator can spit out water? I'd lke to see that. Is it just a water spray or does it spray out the animated water material? | 2010-06-21 00:33:00 Author: jjmusicman Posts: 234 |

I'd love to see a video on those...but I know you're not with Mm right now xD Here's what I have sitting in the queue for me to start recording over. - Building a UFO Part 1: A deeper look at Controlinators and Simple Logic (does have more Mover and Object Tweaker information) - Building a UFO Part 2: A deeper look at Microchips and Advanced Logic (sequencer, multiple select, activating microchips with the Controlinator) I also have a 22 minute Alex Evans presentation that he did at the SCEE booth. (ex: Wooden for Larry Da Vinci levels, Grassy for the Garden levels) EDIT: I also noticed something else, in a menu that linked the 'My Moon' and Story Mode, there was a button called 'My Pins'. It seems from part 2 video at the end that there will be no new interactive music tracks. :/ The music isn't actually sorted out yet. The stuff that's in the current builds is largely unlicensed and I don't know if it's even intended for the final game. I wouldn't infer too much from the symbols that appear in the popit. I'm sure there will be some more interactive music coming our way. | 2010-06-21 10:22:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
So.... am I the only one that noticed the "sponge bag" and "health pack" power ups (they look like that) in the video with the creatinator & powerglove? Wow, love the new look of the wires and how they glow when you use them. People who were at the game jam - is it possible to make those wires display in create mode now? I presume you mean hide the wires in create? and you can do it two ways. hide everything inside a microchip or you can just press a button (forget which one) when pointing over it to make it invisible. | 2010-06-21 13:02:00 Author: wexfordian Posts: 1904 |

I presume you mean hide the wires in create? and you can do it two ways. hide everything inside a microchip or you can just press a button (forget which one) when pointing over it to make it invisible. You can hide microchips like Wex said. The other way to hide everything is through the start menu, and there's a 'preview' mode. Which let's you see exactly how it would look in play mode If you meant can you see the wires in play mode...then there's no way to do that as far as I know. | 2010-06-21 13:09:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |

This is just speculation, but usually pins are used to mark stuff. For example when on google maps you mark a location with a pin. So maybe I was thinking they are used for marking lvls that you want to play later or that you really like? idk Also.....Donkey you are awesome!!!!! These videos are great! Do you get a pin for getting a certain amount of hearts? please say no lplease say no please say no. I think they're hoping that people won't care as much because they are just in game and not actual PSN trophies. | 2010-06-21 17:52:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |
Well that's the theory behind the H4H phenomenon. Apparently if there wasn't a trophy no one would want hearts in the first place... which is a viewpoint I don't entirely buy. | 2010-06-21 17:55:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Ermmm... I think they're hoping that people won't care as much because they are just in game and not actual trophies... :f rightened::fri ghtened::frigh tened: Then they are WRONG :kz: ... well, at least if we don't have a trophy for it, the trophy peepz won't care... plus they will be hopefully be improving searching and stuff so H4H would be separate or something... But yeah, seems like we know the new "crown"... DON'T WE :kz: I like stupid stats, so I'm glad about that... cause I, uh... hey look, a monkey! /runs EDIT: @ rtm... yeah. If they get rid of the trophy they'll get rid of the trophy hunters and stuff... but there will aways be people who actually love LBP who want hearts. So it may cut down by getting rid of people looking for trophies, but you can't get rid of them all :kz: | 2010-06-21 17:56:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Well the pins that were seen/mentioned at the Create Jam and that are seen in Donkey Shows video has one for hearts...whether that makes the finished version of the game who knows...I wouldn't get worked up about it anyway | 2010-06-21 17:59:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |

Most people surely have the trophy by now but you still see lots of people after hearts and high ratings etc just so that they can stay on the cool pages and become 'famous'. So, these pins... do you know if they unlock anything, or if they're just there for show (so you can compare pins etc.)? | 2010-06-21 18:14:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
An entire sound category dedicated to the human body? I noticed there's a new category for music. How does the music in the Cinematic category differ from the other ones? | 2010-06-21 18:55:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
So, they are just in game achievments? Still sounds cool Gotta get em' all! O.o I'm not a H4Her.........you can go see my lvls if you want >.> just saying. One thing I still understand so much is how you use the holographic material. How exactly do you make it light up? And is it the same material as the dance floor in the trailer or are they different? | 2010-06-21 18:57:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
How does the music in the Cinematic category differ from the other ones Err, just a wild guess but I imagine its cinematic. While we are on the topic it would be great if this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV0wPBYDQ6Y) song was in the game. How exactly do you make it light up? Just like you set a light. And is it the same material as the dance floor in the trailer or are they different? That's a new light | 2010-06-21 19:01:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Ah..cool Thanx. Now I am complete U.U | 2010-06-21 19:04:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
That music that plays throughout Gripple Grapple sounds epic. I could see it in a Jungle level of some sort... | 2010-06-21 19:36:00 Author: FlipMeister Posts: 631 |
Hm, honestly I think they should eliminate all instances of automatic rewards given for being hearted. Whether trophies or pins, people are going to get rabies in their attempts to collect every pin. To me it's just sort of a thing where the community had a chance to be grown up, and failed. It's a "we're not allowed to have nice things" situation. There are ways to create rewards for things that will actually help the community - by playing and rating others' levels, for example. But they're going to run into the same level of H4H if there are pins for hearts. The hope is that with level streams and lbp.me, they will simply be drowned out by better stuff. But who knows yet what that's going to be like? Either way, as good as the IDEA is to reward successful creators, way too much of the community is going to abuse these pins and pursue them at any cost, even if it means hurting the community as a whole. It's going to end up cheapening the pins anyway. I considered maybe a better solution would be a pin you get for being "featured" on MM's picks. But then just imagine the extent of annoying non-creators pestering and bugging poor Tom and Spaff incessantly, begging and pleading to get on Mm picks. Indeed. Most people surely have the trophy by now I don't. I don't even have the "I published a level" trophy. I really should get back to finishing that two-player level, but thinking about what I'm going to do in LBP2 is so much more appealing! | 2010-06-21 19:47:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Sadly what Teebonsy said is right (At least in my opinion) WE'RE MONSTERS. I think that the only solution is to not include any type of trophy or pin that has to do with hearts U.U Nah, I'm just kidding.......Or am I O.o *DUN* *DUN* *DUN* | 2010-06-21 20:21:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
Will you show some of the new sound objects? Also, on the youtube video descriptions, you should warn that the game isn't final? | 2010-06-21 20:42:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Will you show some of the new sound objects? Also, on the youtube video descriptions, you should warn that the game isn't final? I think I have some stuff about sound objects in the next 2 vids. As for the game being not final, if people don't realize that, it's their fault. I'll put a disclaimer about it regardless. And yay sticky! | 2010-06-21 21:30:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Hey donkey, Any chance you got any vids of how the new movers actually work. They are the only thing I ain't seen in action yet and don't know exactly how they work.... It's hard to imagine exactly how they work and would be good to see them in action in create mode to get a better understanding | 2010-06-21 22:04:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
Wow. Donkey, you are like the god-of-taking-videos-that-give-us-a-lot-of-information-about-one-of-the-most-anticipated-games. This gives us a whole lot more information about what we can expect in LBP 2 | 2010-06-21 22:07:00 Author: Gamerman50 Posts: 72 |

Yes you could, you can have a sackbot and stick an emitter (that shoots out electricity) on him than use the direct control seat to control the sackbot and the emitter without making it look weird. If thats the case, Why do we even need Creatinators!? It'll look so much cooler coming from his hand | 2010-06-21 23:38:00 Author: Nurolight Posts: 918 |
If thats the case, Why do we even need Creatinators!? It'll look so much cooler coming from his hand Well because (at least I hope) The creatinator costs less than a sackbot with a DCS and an emitter on his hand. And if you would rather do it that way there would be no problem. Its just one more choice | 2010-06-22 00:22:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |
