Two directioned conveyor belt problem

Archive: 9 posts

Hi! I am making conveyor belt that can move both directions and pause with style that has been descripted rtm223's blog.
The idea is that there are two emitters emitting conveyor belts for both directions.
Problem is that the part that goes from left to right don't align probably even if I copy the right-to-left part and flip it.
I have tried to tweak it and create auto-align system with wenches but neither would work. So what I could do?

Are you saying for the conveyer belt to be able to move left right and stop?2010-06-14 22:28:00

If you flip an object even if you were using the grid there is always a gap/overlap. Yes I found this annoying too.

Soloution: you can turn the grid off and carefully manover the objects together

Q: If you are making it move both ways are you using a 3 way switch set to direction?
Because if you do that you can then attach pistons to the switch to be controlled by other typs of buttons/grab/proximity switches

Do not flip the emitted conveyor piece! Simply rotate it 180 degrees. This will keep the grid alignment and prevent the emitter from glitching out.2010-06-15 07:19:00

This don't work. It still leaves cap when emitted.

No, I use same system that Logic Packs Sackboy Tracker uses to change directions.

I mean when you're designating the item the emitter emits, rotate it without flipping it, ensuring that the grid is on. If that still doesn't work (I can't see why) turn on big grid, move the conveyor piece around, the turn on medium grid or whatever size you're using, and line up the conveyor piece with where you want it emitted. This should ensure that (a) the emitter piece is the proper rotaion and (b) the emitter piece is properly aligned to grid. (Sometimes after rotating items within the emitter, the object comes out of grid alignment - turning on the big grid to realign then reverting to the smaller grids helps to fix this).2010-06-15 19:30:00

No, the problem is that the emitted pieces won't align probably with each other.
It seems that when flipping the part movement to platforms height won't be able to divide by 0.1 thus creating cap between emitted platforms.
Sadly the only solution that comes mind is to change height, interval and speed to fix it but then both parts wouldn't mix well with each other.

Does your emitted conveyor piece move towards or away from the dark matter it is attached to? If the conveyor piece starts far away from the DM there is more of a chance of the piston going askew. If not, I don't really know what's causing your problem - unless you didn't use grid?2010-06-16 22:38:00

It moves away from the dark matter.

I did use grid and thats the strangest thing in it.

I have noticed in other things that left and right forces aren't equal (mainly when making logic gate from tree-way switch) but this is first time it prevents something working.
