Filming for Last Harry Potter Film Ends! D:

D: (http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/3574) <--- Click for more info

I basically made this thread to discuss what the HP books and films mean to you and , as cheesy as it sounds, how they have changed your life.

I personally am extremely upset all of this is ending. It is my favourite book series of all time, and the films are some of my favourite films ever.

I usually hate it when people clap at the end of films in the cinema, but I know for sure, at the end of Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows Part 2, I will give it a standing ovation!

What are your thoughts? Happy? Sad? Indifferent?

Thanks!

I never read them (although I attempted) all. Read bits of a few....

By bits I mean the endings...

The books were quite good, but the films were terrible. The Half-Blood Prince was the worst offender in my opinion.2010-06-13 17:21:00

^^^^^^^^
Agreed. *HBP Spoilers!* (Highlight to reveal)

They cut out Dumbledore's funeral, and replaced it with the Burrow being destroyed.. I don't remember that ever happening.

*spoilers end*

It will be a huge disappointment, just like the others. The majority of films that are based on books are bad, it's a law of nature.2010-06-13 21:15:00

*wonders how I missed this thread*

Apparantly I'm quite a big Harry Potter fan. Much prefer the books to the movies though, I've lost count how many times I've read them (probably about 10?).

Kind of sad that it's all coming to end now... Still, I faith in the last two films being good because they've split the last book into two parts. Should give them time to fit all the important stuff in!

Well I actually really enjoyed all the films, but particularly the last one. I've managed to make a mental break between book and movie (necessary sometimes) and just enjoy them on their own merits and I really have enjoyed them, especially taking my older two kids to see each installment on it's opening day.

I did my grieving on the day I queued for, bought and finished The Deathly Hallows. I was mad that I'd rushed it and really felt a massive loss that it really was the end of something amazing (and I was upset about the characters who'd died). I think I was down for a couple of weeks after, but it's the same after any high. I'm just glad my kids grew up in the generation that will always remember the excitement of the 'next Harry Potter' coming out. For us it was Star Wars.

Something else will come along eventually - not the same, but maybe just as good? Maybe.

I hated the 6th film, it was so different from the book. I'll admit that it would have been a good film if I hadn't read the book beforehand, but the amount of differences between the book and the film annoyed me - Why the hell did they have to burn The Burrow down? I'm waiting for a film that sticks exactly to the story of the book it's based on... Then, then the future has arrived.2010-06-16 22:34:00

Yeah but then we'll have to camp out in the cinema! It'd be so long! I could handle that, but I don't think anything but 'screen adaptations' are likely. Sadly. Yeah, there were some annoying changes, but still, I'll let the movies take me where they want to. The books remain untarnished for me.2010-06-16 23:51:00

Watch the first two films again . They aren't exactly the same as the book, but it's only really minor details that didn't really matter that were left out. Only problem with those of course is that the acting etc wasn't as good as it is in the later films.

The movies change what happen in books to make them appeal to a wider audience. Same happened to Eragon. Book is amazing. Movie is awful compared to it in my opinion and a few others that have read it, but to the masses it was a good film. O_o

That is why I try not to relate anything in the films to how they are in the books.

Also, Emma Wattson shall be nude in one of these. If it is real/animated I do not know.

Biggest understatement of the century. If there was a prize for 'Blankest face while announcing that you are scared/dying/in love etc.' HP 1 would have won it. That's not to say they were bad films, I enjoyed them when they came out, but I can't watch them now without wetting myself laughing.

Eragon was a crap film, and an amazing book, just like you said.. But I don't think the masses thought it was a particularly good film, I don't know anyone that enjoyed it.

I have seen worse acting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyophYBP_w4&feature=related

I think it is mostly the really young people and their families that enjoyed the film.

I loved Troll 2, that's got to be the finest film ever made, and that's including Titanic.2010-06-18 18:11:00

YES IT'S FINALLY OVER! The last couple of HP movies were terrible, the ones coming out are probably going to be too.

how they have changed your life.
Wow. They're just a few poorly written books, that ignore the term "Quality not Quantity".
The films however are pretty good.

I loved the books and the movies and I'm so excited about the deathly hallows part 1 !!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6lUS4iG5dE

here's the trailer!! I can't wait to see the movie!! Sorry if it's already been posted, if it has, then just ignore mine.
But I think J.K Rowling is an amazing writer, the stuff she comes up with the all the twists and turns and just how everything ties together is amazing.
