Worst thing in LBP

Archive: 8 posts

What does ''Worst thing in LBP'' bring to your mind? H4H, shark/bomb survival, logic or perhabs community itself?
I had a little pause from lbp. I would have not gone back if I couldn't have my very first fan message. I wondered that how could someone think my levels are the best and decided to have a look. Then I realized it. To me worst thing in LBP is the community. Cool page was mostly full of ****. What do you think?

logic

What? What's so bad about logic? Logic is the most useful thing when making a level. How is it the worst thing?

Oh? I actually love logic. I only don't like those levels when they don't give any clues at all as to what on earth you're meant to be doing. There's a difference between a challenge and a level that can only be completed by a mind reader. There are levels I have played over and over again and still not completed, but because it's my own skill preventing me, I still rate them highly (and it feels amazing when I finally DO complete it) but if it is the creator's ignorance that prevents me from getting further through the level, I am not afraid to give it 2 stars.

Bomb survivals, skateboard ramps, impossible platformers with far too few checkpoints... there are a lot of slightly irritating things on this game.. but NOTHING bothers me as much as those people who copy other people's levels and pass them off as their own. It not only shows disrespect for those who created the level, it shows a complete disregard for themselves and how others view them. Really shameful behaviour.

Oh and I guess bullying too. I've seen all too often that certain members become the target of abuse 'Your levels are so lame', 'you suck'. blah blah... Again, the people writing this stuff are as low in my opinion as those who copy other people's levels.

So I guess the community DOES have a lot of problems on LBP, but I still think the majority of people are great, honest and talented people. Those who are there for the sheer fun of it.. they are what makes LBP a great place to hang out ^^

Oh and btw, my little niece LOVES bomb/shark survivals, so they also have their place in the great circle of life!!

Copying levels without giving any credit whatsoever. Oh, and changing a few materials and shipping it as a "sequel".
Wink wink nudge nudge.

Logic? That's actually the way to work around the first big bummer I experienced as a greehorn to create:

Everything only takes ONE plug.
It took me months to realize there's logic behind and that you can literally build your own logic. So, logic is far from being bad to me.
The worst could probably be well summarized as:
"Bomb survivals clogging cool levels pages"

Further mayor annoiances:
No given or selfmade categories for levels, stickers...
The camera tool with a fraction of the zoom and angle you can do in create
You can't make moving stuff unbreakable (or do we?)
...

The whole thing is not bad on my account, I mean, I really like it from heart. That social problems like credit- or copyright-issues occur is not too surprising to me but somewhat just to be expected in any such project.

It would be nice to have separate pages for survival-type games. They have their place in LPB (my niece loves them) but they DO clutter the place up a bit. Another feature that would be nice, would be if the game automatically recorded the name (and link to) the original creator whenever someone copies a level. Even better, would be if the original creator got the credit each time the copy was played. That way a certain annoying duo wouldn't have such high ratings based on other people's work and maybe they'd think twice about plagiarising at all. I'm not even a creator and this gets up my nose, I can only imagine how those who can/do create must feel about this.2010-06-13 15:00:00
