It says the domain name has expired. I figured I'd ask on its sister site. What happened?2010-06-12 00:54:00

It's saved in my bookmarks, so I didn't misspell it. That link takes me to the page I showed you earlier. I've even Googled it. No, it's definitely not my error; it's down 2010-06-12 01:05:00

There are only 6 members online on MNRC (I think it's more usually) so it works for some but not for the most people...2010-06-12 01:26:00

"KablooieKablam posted on LBPC that when he tries to access MNRC it dericts him to this site.
I don't know what is happening but this site works just fine for me while not at all for others."

Nothing much but they should get the point

EDIT: Now it doesn't work for me either, but at least I got that message there.

Yes, it is linked on the word "this"
Obviously that didn't appear when I copypasted the text.

According to my stalking skills (CC's discussion with Shadowcrazy), it's something about a domain failing... or needing to be re registered. So apparently he just needs to reregister it or something. I unno. But it'll be back up soon or something when he reregisters. Just saying it isn't gone or whatnot. I know no more, check CC's page D:2010-06-12 02:07:00

The domain expired. And when fallowing the link "how to renew" that fallowing statement appears: "It seems that the domain listed above has already been renewed. The domain should be reactivated shortly. You do not need to renew it now. If you still see this message in 72 hours, please contact us."

So the site will be fully running soon!

Here:

Looks like the domain registrar was a little jumpy about cutting off the domain. It has been renewed, but there's some processing involved so I'm not sure how long until the URL works again. Don't worry - even if the domain was canceled (which it has not been), our site would be fine. We'd just have to re-register the domain name.
Almighty Rock was right.

Yeah, I mean they obviously have backups for the code even if they did lose the site. I figured it was a domain renewal problem - I was just checking to see if others were affected.2010-06-12 03:12:00

For those of you who are network savvy, here's what happened: our domain registrar has a poor policy regarding notification of the expiration of domain registration. Poor in the sense that they don't notify you at all before they cut off the registration. We weren't expecting it. As soon as it happened, we paid for the renewal and got things set up, and just had to wait for them to process the changes, which they eventually did.

For those of you who aren't so technologically inclined: the link between you (the client) and us (the server) is our URL - namely, "mnrcentral.com". We have to register that URL with what's called a "registrar" so that when you type in that URL in your browser, it correctly links you (the client) to us (the server). This registration is not free, and it is not permanent. It's like taking out a lease on an apartment, except in this case the landlord did a **** poor job of notifying us before kicking us out. We essentially didn't even know we had been kicked out until we returned home to find our locks changed, all our furniture sitting out in the hallway, and a sign on the door informing us we either had to pay next month's rent or find somewhere else to live. The only difference between the "landlord" metaphor and our situation is we don't pay monthly, we pay annually, which is why we didn't know the exact expiry date offhand. We will next time, we promise.

What I want to know is why did it work for some but not others?

Is it because we're special?
