Sharing main-story prizes between profiles on the same system?

Archive: 6 posts

Sorry, this is my first time posting to this site. Let me know if I posted to the wrong site or forum. I searched the forums for a solution, but apparently I don't know the magic words to search for (I tried "profiles share prizes" and "profiles share stickers").

My wife and I play LBP on our PS3. We always play under my PS3 profile, but when my wife plays she picks the LBP profile that matches her PS3 login. (If it matters, my wife's PS3 login does not have a PSN sign-on.) When one of us plays without the other, the prizes (stickers, etc.) that were collected only go to the profile that was playing; we would like the prizes to be automatically shared.

We try to play together, but I inevitably want to play more than she does. When I play alone I figured I could just go back and ace the levels we've already completed, that way my wife doesn't miss any of the levels. I did this, but then when we played together again we realized that only I had the stickers, etc. that were earned when I aced the level. I realize that this makes sense for some situations (e.g., siblings who want to "do it themselves"). But for us, it's annoying because we both have to play together all the time otherwise it gets confusing when we're trying to find a switch sticker.

I realize that some people might consider it "unfair" that one profile could get stickers from a level that they haven't even played. But the fact is, right now it's perfectly possible for one person to collect all of the prizes while the other person just tags along on the level. In fact, that's my current solution when I want to play by myself: turn both controllers on, and just keep my wife's sack person on the screen and alive while my sack person collects everything. Obviously, that's a bit tedious. Is there a better way to do what I'm trying to accomplish? I looked in the profile settings, but that didn't seem to have what I wanted.

I could be wrong but as far as i know you can't automatically share prizes. I'm pretty sure the solution you're considering now is the only way unfortunately.

btw this is the right section

Here's a tip, although some people see it as cheating
When you start the level, have a controller assigned to your wife's profile, she doesn't need to actually be playing though. Then when you start the level, just disconnect your wife's controller and go through the level as you normally would, collecting all the prizes etc.
Near the end of the level, connect your wife's controller again and bring both sacks to the end. Your wife will earn all the prizes that you did and also get the "Ace" and "Collect All Gift" prizes if you got them too.
This'll save you a lot of hassle when going through the level, as the camera will only be focused on your sack and not your wife's.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion. That was the kind of thing that i was looking for, but it didn't work when I tried it

I started the level with both sack people and disconnected my wife's controller. I played through, collecting all the prizes. Before I got to the final platform I turned my wife's controller back on and her sack person appeared. I put both sack people on the finishing platform and it said that I had collected all the gifts. When we got back to the pod, I checked and my wife didn't have the stickers I had collected or the bonus sticker for collecting all of the gifts.

The most annoying thing is, if I start the level with just my wife's sack person then the "about this level" still shows that all of the prizes have been collected, but the prize bubbles she hasn't collected are filled in. So LBP "knows" that her sack person is on a system where everything has been collected, but it won't give the prizes to her sack person.

You could back up your profile on the profile that has the most stuff, then save it to a flashdrive, and load that profile in your wife's account.
Altho the flaw is anything your wife has that you don't will be deleted.

Srry that's the only think i could think of, hope that helps!

The only other option I can think of is just to share the same profile for LBP. So if either of you plays alone, you use the same profile, and if you want to play at the same time, one of you just logs on as "Guest".2010-06-13 17:00:00
