Motion Instigation 2

Motion Instigation 2Elguerogigante
A sequel to one of my favorite levels, I present Motion Instigation 2. Nothing moves on its own in this basic puzzle-platformer. Momentum, precision, and quick reflexes are the keys to success in this level.

Some of you may have played my Motion Instigation level from a few months ago. Like that level, this level is my attempt to make a level without any moving parts outside of the player's interaction with the environment. This level is full of some hard platforming and puzzle challenges for one player and made all the more borderline extreme with multiple players. Have patience, the level is challenging and hopefully rewarding for those who choose to fully explore the level.

Here is a link to the first Motion Instigation level.

Enjoy, and let me know of any problems, issues, or suggestions.

Thanks

This level was great! Found it very hard (i'm a bit rubbish) but managed to conquer it eventually. I really love the lack of motorised obstacles, something I tried in a few of my levels to varying degrees of success. Some of yours work really well, some not so well, but overall I gave it 5 stars as it has achieved something that I could not get nearly as right as you have. Played the first one as a result of this level and that is just as good.

Great level

This looks very well done! I plan on playing it later today after I play a bit more of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Notice that I said "I plan..." 2010-06-12 14:24:00

Thanks!

If anyone else has problems with certain parts of the level or certain obstacles, let me know. All of them are possible to conquer but I think some parts can be refined to make them more user-friendly.

Great job to all those who completed the level!

How many scarabs have you all found? Collect them all and create ridiculous combos for a high score!

To be honest, I just re-played it and I did it much better I don't think you need to change it. I am just rubbish haha2010-06-12 18:45:00

Great level, but there is one part where you need to fix the camera. It's at the part with the massive multi-storey pendulum platform thing, it's really hard to see where to jump to. I'd also change the rock weight on the bottom of it to wood so it's easier to make it tilt, because the jump to another platform from it is a bit hit and miss. Loved all the unique ideas though!2010-06-12 19:36:00

Well, I couldn't finish it because I'm pretty bad. But from the parts that I saw, it has the best physics-based platforming i've err seen! Great job! 2010-06-12 20:28:00

I've been meaning to go in and really customize all of the camera angles to maximize viability but always get distracted tinkering with something else. The weight at the bottom of the pendulum platform thing is already wood.

To get past the pendulum part you just have to really get it rocking at the top to make the rest of it "easily" passable. I put red button switches (illuminated by yellow lights) that allow the player to re-spawn at the top if they can not get through the obstacle prior to the pendulum losing momentum.

Thanks for the feedback!

Okay, just played the first one, And I have to say - It's very good! I love the visuals and the little scarab hunt!! (Some aspects a little frustrating, but very rewarding once you pass them!!)
I will play the second one a little later! (I already started, but I have to go do something. Looking good so far! But I did prefer the slightly darker atmosphere with the lights, and the boxes don't seem to fit with the theme)

This looks cool, I remeber playing one of your other levels a back and liking it, so I'll give this level a play sometime.

EDIT- I loved the purple lighting and the scarab hunt was really neat. The whole concept behind the level was very ingenious. I ended up getting number three on the scoreboard.

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star: and <3ed the level.

Nice level. Nice to see someone do something a bit different gameplay wise.
The only thing I didn't understand was the red/yellow buttons (which you explained in a previous post).
Better than your previous (imo) and nice boss too. 5 stars + heart.
Any plans on a sequel?

Those sinking boxes tied to balloons are a great way to make sinking platforms without emitting anything!

Really cool level. I loved the physics-based challenges and how they worked. Those are some clever and well-executed ideas.

Nothing seemed too hard to figure out, but you did have to use your noggin and speed quite a bit to get through some areas, which was great.

I recorded a video of the level:

Awesome stuff, gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3.

Great video! So cool to see how it ought to be done. A video of me playing that level would look like a series of out-takes!

Anyway, it's an awesome level with some very original gameplay ideas and definitely deserves more plays.
