The Game Generator Tool

Archive: 20 posts

"OMG!!! i read this guna b in lbp2!!!!!1!
heres how it works:
'Take the Game Generator tool and place it anywhere inside your level. Then, in the Tweak menu, insert anything to the text bar. Anything from "banana" to the whole "Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy" to 93856472039587902,9694. Here's where the awesomeness lies: it generates a whole level with random factors gotten from your input! Our Chinese slaves have put over 2 trillion levels together already!'
i luv u alex evons"

...
What do you think is the limit of the pre-made tools Mm has made us? There's the Bounce Pad, Randomizer Chip, simple Logic Gates...

I'm with all of them, but if Mm does the one above, I'll quit LBP.
What do you think?
(Actually I'm with anything that makes SMALL BITS easier.)

I dont think this makes much sense, wether its how you have said it or wether this is just stupid rumour. If it is real then it would ruin LBP, making a level by typing in 1. However are you sure this wasn't scribblnauts 3?2010-06-09 14:52:00

Scribblenuats 3? Are we skipping sequels now? Then I want LittleBigPlanet3!
This would make it waaaaaayyyyyy two easy to make a level and I doubt Mm would do that.

I'm going to go ahead and call this information questionable, to say the least. This thread is the only mention made of this "Game Generator Tool" when doing a google search. Also, the function of the tool (placing it in the level first, presumably on an existing block of material, and then it generates a level) seems unintuitive judging by previous Mm tool design. Finally, I doubt they would spend time making, tweaking and testing such a generally useless feature when they could simply give out level pieces and templates (like they did in LBP1) for people to build upon instead.

Was this information posted on a level in Cool Levels by any chance? I wouldn't be surprised.

Take that as you will

Well, actually, such a (or some) random-filling feature could be usefull, especially for newcomers to create. I read everywhere how userfriendly it makes modnation racers. Of course, a usefull implementation to LBP would be much more complicated - so I presume, these are just rumors.2010-06-09 15:51:00

...Lol. It seems I hid the true meaning of this thread deep inside a crypt protected by computer defense, laizors, spotlights and... what was the point agin?

THE POINT is, how many new tools should Mm still make. The fact that they made the Bounce Pads and Randomizer Chip made a few of my friends angry. They think Mm is making it too easy for us...
What do you think (asides that I'm a 9 y/o spammer)?

READ YOUR THREADS and notice the "" s.

The new tools will allow us to create more. Full stop. No matter who you are, you will be able to create more impressive things, faster. You're friends will realise how foolish they were when they actually see what the new scope of the game will be 2010-06-09 19:23:00

I shall so laugh at their face when they see wat kaskaroto makes in LBP2. Hopes the others' levels quality raises the same way.2010-06-09 19:31:00

Yeah, it's like: "I put so many hours in this, it was so difficult to make it work and now all that is meaningless, because some scrub can make it with the new tools".
Tell your friends, in the movie scene, the best special or visual effect is the one the audience doesn't notice. The best makeup is the one you don't see (not just concerning movies). Let your friends make the translation to "programming cool gadgets vesus creating fun levels" for themselfs ;-)

This wouldn't work. Not only would you get rubbish and silly levels, but you would get lots of these levels from new people who can't make levels themselves. It would fill up the servers.
Also, imagine Magic Mouths?
Insert Banana into game creator.
Speech Bubbles: "Banana yellow! Yes! Russian keyboard banana! OOh. Rescue the banana! Look! A flying Banana! Weeeee!"
Fail

@MagisterPS3: LOL, Well, it would make it much easier for H4Hers.

@coasterfreak: Maybe you should start a new thread, your ... irony in the starting post doesn't translate and no one is going to pay attention to your correcting post somewhereinthemiddle.

@coasterfreak: I find building stable (like: always working, tweakable, and especially not-breaking) bouncers everything but easy. If one already has perfected selfdesigned bouncers: Congratz, you can choose, wether the using Sackperson is going to show that new salto-animation or not.
A randomizer chip? I didn't know that, really? Because with none of the currenty existing logic, real (or close to real) randomization is achievable. So, a completly new feature. It could ranomize your entrance-gate for example.

Do you have more cases of ostensibly useless new "objects" in LBP2?

so its basically just a big blackhole spewing out random objects everywhere so it can make a level? jk jk

we do have alot of tools and that's not a setback infact it makes the entire game better, more epic platforming sequences and movie sequences if you know what i mean

Yeah, @coasterfreak I suggest editing your first post and putting something along the lines of " *This is total sarcasm! This is not real. It was only a joke.* " lol

Now on the actual subject of the post, I seriously doubt that Mm would ever make new tools that would hand a level/game to the creator at almost no effort from the creator. Mm knows what they are doing and I think they will find a great balance to "making creating easier" vs. "making creating effortless."
Obviously the new tools will make the game more accessible and I'm all for it

Sorry to smart-*** here, but could you give me an example (reallife) where an existing creative tool renders the act of creating new and great stuff (PR-speech: power content) effortless? Cause I can't think of any. Like model kits for website creation: You will never a great webdesign with those.
So I disagree: MM is going to make create as effortlessly as they possibly can.

Do you think anyone is going to think: "N?h, I don't like LBP anymore, all those scrub's levels are just as fun to play, visual impressive and swamped with ingenious ideas as the levels of any proffesional level designer is. It's so boring, I wish back those good old times when only great creators could do good work. It was so much easier (more fun?) to skip and tunnel through all these boring levels at "Cool Levels" just to get to the great ones, now I have to play them all, because I find every one just as great as any other."

I doubt that will happen too often

Unless the Mod Gods are looking down on this thread and LMAOing, I suggest locking this thread down, throwing the key into a kaskaroto level and deminning this whole thread.
i was hoping the purists would have been intrigued by the thread header and we would have gotten a "good" (read: entertaining) debate, but since we all agree about it (Coaster1235 is 9 y/o and new tools are great), there's no need for this
